I have been interested in taking a class here since they opened about a year ago. I took an evening…read moreguided meditation class that was about 45 minutes. Upon my arrival, I was greeted by the meditation teacher & front desk staff. They offered me a free cup of tea, a magnet with their logo and a tour of the space. The atmosphere was calm, it was beautifully decorated, had lots of resources too-including books and items for sale such as jewelry, t-shirts and crystals. There was light music playing in the background and the smell of incense burning. While waiting for the class to start I was able to sit With the teacher and connect on a more personal level. I left class feeling rejuvenated. The center offers classes for adults and children, reiki healing, & massage therapy. It's truly a one of a kind place in the greater Philadelphia area!

On 01/27/26, I contacted Ethos clinic Emmaus office regarding an urgent need for a refill of my prescribed psychiatric medication. My voicemail was firm and direct, expressing concern about the urgency of my care and the risk of interruption in treatment. At no point did I use abusive, threatening, or inappropriate language. Subsequently, the next day (today 1/28/26) Dr. Rizvi left me a voicemail that I found to be unprofessional in tone and content. In addition, he sent me a text message stating that unless I apologized for leaving what he characterized as a "rude voicemail," he would not call in my prescribed medication. This medication had already been prescribed as part of my ongoing treatment, and no medical justification was given for withholding it. I am concerned that Dr. Rivzi conditioned access to medically necessary treatment on a personal demand for an apology rather than on clinical judgment. This placed me at risk of abrupt interruption of psychiatric medication and caused significant distress. At no point did he express a medical or safety-related reason for refusing the refill. I believe this behavior may constitute unprofessional conduct and a breach of the standard of care, particularly given the vulnerability of psychiatric patients and the importance of continuity of treatment. I am requesting that the Board review this matter to determine whether Dr. Rizvi's actions were consistent with professional and ethical obligations.

It is a philosophy and spiritual practice, not an exercise technique. = We met up with a group of friends to try the new cafe, Food4All, and ended up getting an in-depth tour from the ashram's founder. An ashram (in case you don't know) is a residential facility for spiritual learning. This one recently opened in the former BCIU buildings on this land, and oh how lucky the neighborhood is to have this foundation move in. They are making the building sustainable, practice zero-waste techniques, and are surrounding the buildings with organic farms. The ashram moved to Berks from Toms River NJ and is open to all, for dining, classes, internships, volunteering, and training, even an advanced certification in yoga therapy. YT can be applied to any workplace to help both the employees and leaders as well as the clients/patiehnts/customers. What a good idea for staff training. The cafe is all-organic and vegetarian, gluten-free, soy-free, mostly vegan actually. We had quiche, pancakes, salad, roasted veggies, and breads in a lovely bright dining area with lots of chai tea (made with coconut milk) and light. There are some innovative yoga classes here, for example, using swings, but they make it all sound welcoming to beginners. What a glorious use of two old school buildings which have been transformed into an open, bright, spacious retreat with many uses.
