If you've been on this earth a couple decades or more, you've got some trauma somewhere inside…read more.. or you haven't really been living. Trauma builds & causes us to have psychosis, &/or partake in vices; some of us are weaker than others. Working to face this stuff & get it out, strengthens us, helps us beat our demons, & have strength to live as we wish to live; to really live life. There are many ways to do your work, but holistic/Eastern practices & psychotherapies tend to be my best path, & a hybrid of the two is exactly what Airmid offers. First, my caveat... I've had my share of trauma, & I've done my share of work (& continue to). I had OCD in my teens & beat it, first, by relying on alcohol & other stuff, but I then stopped the use & practiced prayer & meditation in my later teens. However, in college, I was a party girl again, & put myself into more trauma situations. (A lot of people revisit & repeat traumas when they have not gotten to adequate awareness, nor have accepted/processed things.) In my later 20s, I had EMDR therapy, which was developed for/with Viet Nam vets, to relieve PTSD. EMDR goes to your earliest traumas, & tries to abate them with Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing exercises (Airmid offers EMDR therapy too). But for this review, my experience at Airmid was in TRE therapy, which I HIGHLY recommend, although, I give my prior experience above as a caveat, b/c, IMO, you really should have the cognitive therapy piece to help you through this, or you may be a total mess. Last night I went DIRECTLY from my TRE session to my therapist near me, but they do offer therapy right there at Airmid, so if you are local, you can have a more convenient set up than I did. TRE therapy is Trauma Release Exercises. Your first class is free, & if you like it, subsequent sessions are $30 each, or you can get a package deal. They recommend you have 4-6 of them with an instructor b/c it's a controlled environment, & they don't let you go into it too long or too deeply to unearth too much at once. Once you learn how to feel yourself & regulate it, you can then do it on your own at home. This is a really great piece to the therapy, to be able to continue your own work, & make it yours, without continued reliance on the center. My Google Maps led me right to this place in the rainy dark. It's in a development of townhome-like office spaces. They are all well kept & the space is nice & fresh feeling. My friend got me to do this with her, & when I notified her I'd be a little late due to traffic, Mike, the instructor, held off on the exercise a few mins for me to arrive, which was extremely kind of him. Mike explained TRE to us, both as the physical technique, & the brain activity that would transpire, which is what would activate psychological pieces (memories, flashbacks, emotions, etc.). He let us know how to stop if we needed to, made everyone feel safe & comfortable. He also gave a little of his own background & explained how he had epilepsy as a child, which was interesting considering the shaking & tremoring all over your body, that TRE produces. This is not meant in jest, Mike is an expert at shaking, & he well knows this process. I definitely felt he was qualified with the psychological & physical knowledge he had. My friend, who grows deeper every day in vedic spirituality, saw Mike's epilepsy as a systemic need to drain trauma (perhaps from a past life if not this one), & I can definitely go there & see that. But wherever you fall on the belief scale, science has studied TRE, & it has real neurophysiological benefit. Mike provided mats, cushions, blankets, etc. from the yoga room supplies. He demonstrated & instructed us through the technique, & led timed exercises, stressing that we rest twice as long as we shook. He provided a very calm atmosphere in the yoga room, with relaxation/meditation music. He also came around to visit each of us during the exercises to assist or advise as needed. At the end, he had us rest, & then slowly come out of our inner worlds, to reflect & share. He was very encouraging & helpful about our experiences, genuinely interested in helping. For me, I definitely had memories & feelings come up & I was grateful I had my therapy session. If you don't have therapy lined up, I'd recommend going home & journaling (prep home to be relaxing/calm beforehand). For me, I felt good physically, & I felt like I was lifting trauma. My friend reported initial headache/heaviness, but then she had great sleep & felt so much better today. I definitely want to go back. I now know the technique, but I want to do it in their controlled environment as they advised. Also, Mike knows so much about this, and there is a lot more he mentioned that I can't explain because I need to hear it all again a few times to fully gasp it. But this is definitely a worthwhile technique to learn for anyone's healing/growth life journey. Remember, first session is FREE! Give it a try!

I had a wonderful therapist here for three years who helped me get a significant part of my life…read moreback, until suddenly it was determined that I was too dependent on her. Instead of making this something to work on, I was immediately pulled out and transferred to a different therapist. I was not even told in person. A new therapist simply called me a few days later to tell me she was it now. No advance warning, closure or even a goodbye. Dubious reasons were given for the rush. The new therapist, who is also the director of the practice, could not have been more different from my first, or a worse match. I found her pushy, condescending and argumentative, and I never felt safe or comfortable with her, especially after she brought her personal politics into session. The issue in question was central to my trauma and the reason I sought therapy, and she invalidated me as soon as I began to speak about it. There was no way this could work. She also scoffed when I said my therapist was important to me - as if anybody would be doing therapy if it wasn't important. I dreaded each of our few sessions. Perhaps worst of all was the complete lack of empathy. She could not understand why I was upset about losing someone great who had helped me so much and who understood me. Anyone would be upset, but for someone with ASD it is catastrophic. I don't think they understand neurodivergence here. I don't think this therapist even understands people. Every time I mentioned my previous therapist (how could I avoid it?) it was read as more evidence of attachment. Therapists are not interchangeable. I did not feel cared for during this "transition." Rather, I felt like a product that was being shuffled around and discarded. I was manipulated and lied to throughout, by at least three people. Initially I was told that I would work with someone else for a few months and then come back. A few days later it was downgraded to a mere possibility. In our last session, when I brought up my anxiety regarding this outcome, she informed me that I was not going back, and denied ever telling me otherwise. They pathologize normal human emotions and I was treated like a criminal for having them. The more they told me it wasn't punishment, the more it felt like punishment. The director even said something about "the board" getting involved. It was madness. In the end, I was given an outside referral, which is the only thing that keeps it from being considered abandonment, but I was effectively abandoned. They know I don't have anyone else. You can look up "effects of therapeutic abandonment" to see what it does to the client. I never received any progress notes or a termination letter, which would be helpful if I am to continue on my own. These actions and the accompanying lack of humanity have done me a great deal of harm, too much to go into here. In short, it's like the past three years never happened. I am trying to hold on to the things that I know are objectively good and useful, but it is all slipping away. I want to believe that my original therapist didn't want things to happen this way, and that once she sought guidance her supervisors took it out of her hands. But I'll never know the truth, because no one was ever honest with me.

I had been sick off and on for a long time. Even so, I was always able to push through and deal…read morewith all of my responsibilities( Run a business, Raise a family, volunteer, etc). I was extremely active. I exercised daily, was a competitive runner, and was always on the go. I was known as an 'Energizer Bunny'. Then- in one day- it seemed- my batteries simply ran out. (I was only in my mid forties & THOUGHT I was in great shape!) That was about 5 years ago. I became chronically ill with more symptoms than I can possibly list, with severe, debilitating fatigue. I would get so sick, I couldn't get out of bed for days at a time. I was in and out of the hospital. I could no longer do any of the activities I loved doing. It was BAD. I went from specialist to specialist of every kind. I had test after test. None of my blood work was ever 'NORMAL' but my docs didn't seem to have a problem with that. The diagnoses I DID get were all over the place. Meantime, my quality of life kept going down. I had to DRAG myself out of bed. Any activity beyond absolute necessity was out of the question for me. I went to some of the best facilities in the country, if not the world, and docs identified all of the problems I was having. But no one had a clue as to how to fix anything. Some told me it was all in my head. Yet I still had medication after medication prescribed- many with horrible side effects. I was given all types of different diagnoses' but no docs seemed to agree with one another. None of them made sense to me either! No treatments helped. My health continued to deteriorate. Since I rarely slept at night, I'd spend hours researching my symptoms to try and make SOME kind of sense of things. How could this happen to someone as 'healthy' as me??? It was during my research time that I found the Clymer Healing Center website. I read about it and then watched the short video that Dr. Neville provides explaining his own journey with CFS & AD, and his understanding of it all. There is an option to take a short quiz, ( to see if CHC can be of help to you), which I took, and the rest, as they say, is history. I was contacted by CHC the NEXT DAY. I had reached out to so many other docs/facilities prior, and they'd been DEAD ENDS, so I wasn't feeling very hopeful with CHC at first. However, after speaking with Dr. Nevilles patient coordinator, and then with Dr. Neville himself, I FINALLY felt like I was in the right place. Of all of the countless doctors I'd seen prior- NONE MADE SENSE in their assessment of my symptoms. Many didn't even listen to my problems! Dr. Neville did.....and he understood. He then started explaining everything to me in a way that I understood and all that he said made PERFECT SENSE! I have now been in treatment for several months, and my health has gradually been improving for the first time-IN YEARS! Dr Neville explained that it would take time and emphasized the need to "Stick with it". He doesn't 'over promise'. His goal is to help people understand and treat illnesses that are totally dismissed by many medical professionals. He is a very 'down to earth', patient, kind, caring, compassionate man, with years of both professional and personal experience with CFS & AD, and ALL of the symptoms that come with these diseases, when left untreated. I have FINALLY found the help I desperately needed. Again----- Having been to countless docs and well known facilities that offered me little to NO HOPE------I am finally on the road to recovery! That's because Dr. Neville TAKES THE TIME to put ALL of the pieces of ones 'health puzzle' together. And he does it so very well. He LISTENS. He CARES, and it SHOWS!
