I almost went with the Classic, but saw someone with a BBQ Brisket potato and instantly changed my mind. When I took it back into the office and opened it up, at least 5 of my co workers came over to tell me how good it smelled. The brisket portion is generous and tender - and the cheese, sour cream, and green onions are the perfect classic compliment. It was swimming in melted butter, which might be a negative for some. But not for me! I was tempted to give 4 stars because a $10 potato is still pricey, no matter how delicious, but the girls on the truck were awesome and service was quick. I will definitely order again.

(Motivational pep talks obviously aren't my strong point). Literally, my dream come true on wheels. My friends and family joke that in my last life I lived through the potato famine which is why I'm so obsessed with this starch and I really can't argue with that. If you're a fan of the baked potatoes from Jason's Deli (shoutout to the Plain Jane) you'll love these. The potato itself is pretty hefty - it's not like the usual sizes you get as a side dish and the pictures on here make it look pretty tiny as well. In person, these taters mean business, especially with all the toppings they add to make it as tall as your face. This is definitely something you hold tenderly and safely with both hands according to OSHA standards. I got the Original combined with the Cheese and Broccoli because the broccoli totally offsets everything else calorie-wise. The potato isn't dry or hard, but soft like you're cutting into a fresh warm pancake with your fork. When you look down at your place, your tater is bathing in a warm bed of melted butter. It's so perfect, so beautiful ... GET IN MAH BELLY. If you're not a cheese wiz fan, I recommend you don't get anything that has the melted cheese - just ask for the shredded. I've been known to eat an ungodly amount of potatoes in one sitting but I hit a brick wall 3/4 into this with all the toppings on it. I highly recommend the Brisket baked potato if you like a spices (not spicy) in your food. Great price point, totally recommend if you ever see them!

Yeowch! At least I burned off my food while trying to balance? Anywho, this place is located right across from Barrio Queen. At 6PM in November, the Barrio Queen actually looks like true royalty with her bright neon sign lighting the way to hungry patrons looking for a bite to eat. There were 10+ trucks this particular Friday night, lots of people were in attendance to dine, and seating was a headache. We managed to snag a table right next to The Maine Lobster Lady's food truck at the last second. I wish I had known about this luck because I would have ordered the bisque! Oh well. Maybe next time. Anyways, Gilbert Food Truck Food Court has a rotating guests of food trucks weekly so make sure you check to see if your fave truck is in attendance on their respective social medias. As Chris said, why pay a cover fee for fancy food truck festivals when you can come here every Friday night? Live music and chocolate stout cotton candy from Sugar Hi awaits you!

Little details like that is what makes the food great. The flavor of both items blew me away. So yummy. So why only 3 stars? They took forever. We tried them at the Gilbert Food Trucks Food Court and they were super under staffed. Took close to an hour with waiting in line and waiting on food. Not exactly what one expects from a food truck. And while the food is amazing, it's not good enough to over look that long wait.

Wasn't sure where to find them since their website (travelingmonkaz.com) does not appear to be supported. However, their Facebook page is kept current and I was able to determine that they would be appearing on a Saturday evening at the Food Truck Caravan in Scottsdale located at 5th Avenue and Goldwater Boulevard. Fortuitously, I had bought tickets for a comedy show at Scottsdale's Stand-Up Live, which was a stone's throw away. I couldn't resist ordering the BBQ pork street tacos (beer barbeque pulled pork, jalapeno slaw, with bacon beer aioli) and they were phenomenal! They come three to an order so I was able to share with my comedy show compadre. He concurred that they were scrumptious. It stands to figure that porky goodness cooked with beer can be somewhat irresistable, and the folks at The Traveling Monk seem to know that all too well. I have since noticed that The Traveling Monk has been appearing at new breweries, which seem to be popping up in the East Valley as of late. I will keep my eyes peeled on their Facebook feed, since it seems like a perfect excuse to visit them at a couple of breweries on my list (Arizona Wilderness Brewing Company in Gilbert and Huss Brewing Company in Tempe, for example). I can only imagine how well their food goes down with a delicious craft beer, and I can only surmise that the folks responsible for The Hungry Monk (which maintains a very respectable craft beer selection) know exactly what they are doing.

We had a pretty large party, so we expected there might be a few hiccups, but overall we had a good experience. The restaurant was clean, and they were able to accommodate our group by seating us in a booth and adding tables. All of our food came out hot and tasted good. One thing we didn't love was how the food was handed out. Instead of placing the plates in front of each person, they were passed across the table. One of the plates was extremely hot and ended up burning my friend's hand. When we mentioned it, the response was basically, "Oop, yeah, it's hot. I have a napkin, so it's not hot for me." We definitely felt like there should have been a warning before handing over a plate that hot. On the positive side, Joslyn was our server and she was very kind. She did her best to take care of our table, especially considering she was the only server handling our party of 13. She even brought out birthday shots for everyone, which was a really nice touch! Overall, I enjoy coming here. The food is good, the restaurant is clean, and there aren't a ton of places in Gilbert that offer bottomless mimosas and margaritas. I actually came back the following day and did bottomless again. That time, I sat at the bar and the bartenders were great and very attentive. It's also typically not too busy, which makes it easy to get seated pretty quickly. Despite the hiccup with the hot plate, I've had good experiences here and would come back again.

There are few times that I've gone to a restaurant to where I felt like just getting up and…read moreleaving. Last night was one of those times. And despite going here multiple times in the past couple years, last night was probably my last. Let's start from the top. Hostess: We arrive around 6pm. Sun was kind of still out, but starting to get dark. It was lovely outside so we asked to be seated outside. We told hostess that we were a party of 7. There was a party behind us who were clearly not with us (would have made us a party of 12) and they just seemed kind of confused. Seating: The weather was nice so we wanted to sit outside. It was starting to get dark and the lights on the patio were off. I get it if we were the first people out there but there was another table out there and it was getting dark. Wouldn't you notice that maybe you should turn on the lights? We were literally reading menus with the street light. We had to ask them to turn on the lights. Prior to the lighting fiasco there were all sorts of issues with the tables. One of our tables was wobbling like a top. Another table was seemingly unattached to the legs as the top flipped up like it wasn't attached to the legs. What is going on with the tables out there? Attentiveness: We got seated and it took a long time for them to come and even take a drink order. Like 5mins. Then another 5-7mins for the beer to come. Then we had to ask if they still had complimentary chips. So we didn't really have chips and beers until 15mins after being seated. And throughout the experience it was just very sparse - like you'd order something and it would come 5mins later. At one point I told the adults that if we didn't have kids then I would have just stood up and bounced. And I say this as someone who is very laid back - I'll even eat food that was improperly made because why get upset about it? But in this case, I just felt like we were invisible and had to ask for everything. Entertainment: This is nitpicking, but out of all the games on, not a single TV had the Diamondbacks on. Why? Beer: No Coors on tap, fine. Got an Ultra. Beers take 5mins to come out. Come out in mugs that are basically room temperature. I don't require my mugs to have literal frost on them, but I do expect my mug to not be feeling like it is basically warm. To add to insult, the beer was also not very cold either. If either the beer or mug was frosty then I would have probably been fine because at least something was cold. I can say this... if they had served us Coors in the cans - the mountains would have NOT been blue for more than 2mins. Food: We've been going to Salt for a while (multiple years, at least) and we feel like they've been constantly changing the menu. There used to be numerous [obviously] vegetarian options but this time all those were gone. The vegetarian tried to order a simple bean burrito and was told that the only bean burrito they make is on the kids menu. OK, so make a bigger one or something? Aside from that food overall was decent. One of the adults in our party felt that the meat was skimped on. Conclusion: When we were deciding where to eat that night I suggested Salt and the other husband was all happy. Even his Mexican wife (who is picky about Mexican food) was amendable to Salt. Of all the times we've gone in the past as just my family it has been terrific - loved the chips, salsa, margarita flights, food, people watching, and atmosphere. The wife and I have done date nights here and gone with groups. And I hate to say it though, I probably will not be back again after last night's experience. And if you look at some of the more recent reviews... you'll notice multiple other people noticing a decline as well...
