The sake flight was also tasty and fun. My partner found the matcha ipa to be unexpectedly good. The menu could be easier to read though! Inconsistent formatting and usage of pictures. Skip the croquettes though, these were bland deep fried breaded mashed potatoes that seems like they'd been heated from frozen mass produced. TLDR: Ramen AMAZING, croquettes meh.

The vegan and GF choices here were actually exciting. My friends ordered the vegan Khao Soi and the Kati noodle soups, and both were full, thoughtful dishes, not afterthoughts. It made dinner so much easier and way more enjoyable for our whole group. This isn't a traditional ramen shop, but my husband's black garlic chintan was every bit as satisfying as some of our favorite ramen spots back in the Bay. Rich, comforting, and absolutely worth ordering at $19 for a hearty bowl. (The others were slightly pricier at $24 a pop) That said, the star of the night was my spicy shrimp ramen. Easily. The broth reminded me of a laksa base with a deep, layered flavor heavy with aromatics and umami. The shrimp on top were excellent in their own right, perfectly seared, well-seasoned, and not just a garnish pretending to matter. I also want to give the ramen eggs a shout out. I can't believe how many places get this wrong. These beauties were perfectly marinated and served warm. It's one of my biggest pet peeves to have an ice cold ramen egg dropped into my hot soup and I appreciate the consideration given to addressing this common faux pas. Fast service, a beautiful outdoor patio with a great view, and food that genuinely impressed all of us. Highly recommend if you're in the area.

Our waitress didn't understand the menu or the difference between sashimi and nigiri. I ordered the Sashimi Deluxe and was served nigiri along with a roll. To their credit, the manager stepped in and corrected it. Food quality was average at best. The sashimi itself was a C--nothing terrible, but not fresh or high quality enough to justify a return visit. One additional concern--there were empty food supplier containers sitting outside along the side of the building, which doesn't give a great impression from a cleanliness standpoint. Overall: Below average experience. Between service issues, food quality, and presentation, I wouldn't recommend it. --Ryan

Which I had to walk back to ask if I could sit at sushi bar. I couldn't it was covered in boxes they told to I had to sit at the bar to the right. I waited for awhile and then was asked for water. The bar was so dirty I asked for it to be wiped down I was so nice said thank you. The girl rolled her eyes. She said it was just water ,it was not, it was filth. The waitress Bridget L asked what I wanted with an attitude like I was doing a disservice in being there. She never serviced me ,she was so rude when I asked about specials that she didn't know about and asked her to check when she came back she said no I didn't check.why is this lady working here?!!!Never helped me was rude and unhelpful, barely even spoke to her. What a joke. She should not work In the service industry. She's absolutely terrible. I complained about one roll i ordered tastes rotten and I wanted one roll removed I would pay for the rest and this lady that claimed to be a manager told me to leave . When I went to leave ,she said she would call the cops if I didn't pay. Make up your mind lady. Should I stay or should I go?! I said I wanted to pay and you if the one roll was removed and she refused again. She is a head case. I tried to pay for everything else a she berated and yelled at me . She continued to threaten me and said they don't do that.. can't send back food because I didn't like it. I told her again it tasted rotten and I spit it out. You can see on the pictures below baked scallop roll where I spit it out. She also said if you don't like it it's not our problem. The last time I checked if its rotten ,im not going pay. . I proceeded to tell her I would not pay for rotten food. She fought a lot, was so terrible never experienced this in my life. . I started recording her because it was so crazy she said I was yelling the entire time, which I never did. I was on the phone with my boss who heard everything . I never did what she claimed was I was so nice and polite . MANAGERS AND OWNERS CHECK THE VIDEO RECORDINGS YOUR YOU HAVE SERIOUS LIABILITIES WITH YOUR EMPLOYEES ,I WAS TRYING TO PEACEFUL PAY AND LEAVE. Instead I got screamed at. I was there at 7/14 at 17:21:03. I also was throwing up afterwards because the food was rotten. Never in my life have I been threatened and disrespected in a restaurant. This place is a total disgrace and health hazard which I will report to the health board . The acclaimed manager could have just refunded me one roll instead of being combative. The waitress Bridget L is terrible and should never work in customer service again.. this dirty and unethical place needs to get shutdown. Do not ever come here. TERRIBLE FOOD AND SERVICE.

Breakfast plates were great with many options to choose from. I had the burger one night for dinner and it was well prepared and very tasty. This is one of our go-to spots on Hood River. We've been here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and…read moresomehow they manage to nail it every single time. Today's mission? Split the St. Helens Burger, an order of fries, and a side salad with the recommended goat cheese (trust them--it was the right call). The burger was everything you want it to be. A fresh poppy seed bun, a perfectly cooked patty, sweet caramelized onions... and then came the poblano pepper. That little bit of smoky heat tied the whole thing together. Now let's talk about the fries because they deserve their own paragraph. These are, without question, my favorite fries. They arrived hot, crispy, perfectly golden, and had that satisfying crunch that makes it impossible to stop at just one. If you're a fry person, these alone are worth the visit. The side salad was fresh and flavorful, and the creamy goat cheese took it from "just a side salad" to something I'd happily order again. It was the perfect balance to all those delicious fries. If you're looking for a place that consistently delivers great food in a welcoming atmosphere, Kickstand Coffee should absolutely be on your list. We've yet to have a bad meal here, and it's one of those places we recommend without hesitation to friends, family, and anyone who asks where to eat. I now wish I didn't let my husband eat more of the fries. Gotta head back up there soon! Service was great and love that the girl at the counter asked me if I was doing anything fun today - extra friendliness goes a long way!

We placed our order and headed on into the bar/gift shop area. They have so many cool books, trinkets, stickers, cards, etc. The plant and lighting set up in there is also incredible. I had a great Oregon Brewery Summer ale which accompanied my noodle dish perfectly. Of course, since I was in Oregon, I had to have a slice of Marionberry pie. Delish. If in the area make this a stop.

Currently listed at $15, it comes with double rice, double mac, a slice of pineapple, pulled pork, beef ribs, and barbecue chicken. The Big Kahuna is probably the best value on the menu. For me personally, it's big enough to split, or to feed me for a whole day. While I loved the Big Kahuna, I'm not really a big fan of pulled pork. The third time I came in, I ordered the Ginger Beef. I liked it, but honestly not as much as any of the three meats that came with the Big Kahuna. The next two times, I ordered the large teriyaki chicken with extra sauce, to go. The flavor is basic in the best way possible. It's not necessarily interesting or innovative, but is exactly what I expect when I think of good teriyaki chicken. It's tender, flavorful, and perfectly charred. The pulled pork tastes like it was cooked in a slow cooker, or via some kind of process that took a very long time. It just falls apart in your mouth. The rice and mac are also plain in the best way possible. Traditional and plain, but still perfectly done. This has become my favorite lunch spot in Hood River. It's hard to not eat here every day.

The meat had a nice smoky char and a sweet-salty glaze (from the smoker outside). Not served piping hot, but still reason temperature, not super-tender either though. One piece had a slightly acrid taste, probably over smoked, but the rest was solid. The rice was standard. The mac salad was chilled, creamy, and well balanced--mayo-based with shreds of carrot, bits of green onion, and a light touch of pepper. Overall, a classic Hawaiian plate lunch. Fast, filling, and good value.
