    Shoyu Ramen
    Mike P.

On cold winter nights, what is more satisfying than a hot bowl of noodles full of flavor and taste? If you can make here before 6 pm you may have a good chance of getting a table. They have a bar area that's good for single or couple dining. Open kitchen design lets you see the noodle masters creating their craft. Mostly meat centric bowls but there are a couple veggie bowls. The miso is the less flavorful one compared to Shoyu. Parking can be tricky, we managed to find a spot on Central not far from the restaurant.

Cute little ramen shop across UNM. Got the black garlic ramen and added an extra egg--highly recommend. The broth was flavorful and not too salty. Chasu was a little on the drier side IMO but might've been the piece I had--my partner's was delicious and juicy. He got the Naruto ramen which came with 5 pieces of meat, and his broth too was flavorful, with a bit of ginger that gave it a lighter body. We also ordered Takoyaki, which were incredibly crispy on the outside and soft and doughy on the inside. We were seated quickly and attended to just as quick. Food came out quick and was delicious. The place was not gaudy and intimately lit, making it a great place to hangout or have a date night.

Solid choice for ramen in ABQ. I almost gave up trying to find decent Asian food. Naruto is a few doors to the right of O Ramen. Takoyaki had finely shaved bonito which I have never had. Nice touch!Broths had good flavor and noodles were cooked perfectly! We all ordered a different type of ramen that will be in our rotation. Service was very good and efficient. The restaurant is on the smaller side so they have signs that request to not linger over an hour. We easily found street parking right in front as a lot of the businesses have since closed. Free street parking after 6pm! We will be back!

Finally some decent ramen in the ABQ area. We were so disappointed from ONI Chicken karage 3.5/5: very good portion for $7; is it the best? no, I had better but still worth it for decent tasting - missing a mayo sauce to go with it too Miso tonkatsu 4/5: broth flavor just right but could be way hotter, came slightly warm, poach egg and meat didn't have any taste. Meat was tender so still good and it was only 1 slice of meat Black tonkatsu 4/5: rich broth, also only 1 meat and lacked flavor, didn't taste the black garlic as much as we liked, could be slightly bolder in taste

Ordered Curry Ramen because I don't care for Pork Chashu. Just a preference because of the fatty meat and wanted to try the black garlic ramen so I asked if they could sub for additional cost for the Beef Brisket and was told no subs. They can omit the pork and I would have to pay full price of $4.50 as an add on. I totally get it. Business policy no reduction in my rating because that's a preference thing. Curry tasted like Japanese curry from the old days my mom use to make me. Broth was flavorful and thick. Wish it had more meat. Egg was nicely cooked. The jalapeño in the ramen slowly made the ramen spicy. If you are sensitive to spicy ask for the ramen without jalapeños. Definitely worth a try.

I am currently pregnant and craving ramen, and was recommended this place. I'm usually very picky about trying new spots, so I decided to give it a go with my husband. I've lived in Japan and the restaurant was small so similar to a ramen shop. Pop music playing, definitely midtown/university area vibes. When we entered the was no greeting, so it didn't seem friendly or willing to serve us. Just asked if it was "for two?". We were first to come in during a little rush, and waited about 5-8 minutes. Then this couple who showed up next to us who just came in 5 minutes after us hthere order was taken first. So service is definitely not like Japan at all, which I can definitely understand, but I worked in the service industry for 7+ years and you should always know who is seated first to avoid an upset guest. That's just standard. Now when it comes to the food it surprisingly wasn't too bad. My husband and I had the miso ramen with substitution of beef brisket for the pork. It was a bit more on the expensive side to substitute the beef (4.50) instead of having pork. I don't eat pork so it was weird to get charged for a substitution. I'd probably order takeout than come in next time and skip the protein.

Wow the broth in the Naruto ramen was good! The noodles chewy and perfectly cooked. There wasn't any shichimi at the table but the ramen didn't need any. Spectacularly good. Pork fried rice was great too. I was hoping they had Hiyashi chuka but I suppose that's kinda specialty.

This place is awesome. Inside a food hall. Park outside (unless there's parking somewhere that I'm not aware of) and go in great choices including this place. Food is awesome. Would give five stars but there is a place in Milwaukee that clearly will outrank all Ramen places. This is awesome though and we would come back.

Nice little noodle place the server informed us there's no garish to add to noodle like the boiled egg and still charge full price. We asked him which noodle was what he didn't hear as I repeated hello sir as we sat in front of him.

Naruto Ramen was good. Delicious broth and decent amount of protein. Really enjoyed it that I came back twice during my two week visit to Albuquerque. Highly recommend!

I just moved to Albuquerque for the summer and I was pleasantly surprised to find a number of Japanese restaurants in the area that I wanted to try. I would recommend trying to visit this place during an off-time because the restaurant itself is small as well as the parking lot so I can imagine it getting pretty crowded around prime dining hours. My boyfriend and I went to dinner around 4 and we were seated right away. We got the chicken karaage (fried chicken) as an appetizer, the pork tonkotsu ramen and yaki udon for our entrees, and cheesecake tempura and mochi ice cream for dessert. The food came out super quickly and the portions were really big. I would definitely recommend this place if you're a fan of ramen.

    How is the takeout experience?

Great! The broth is separated from the rest of the dish to make sure it doesn't get soggy.

When will you start serving gluten free Ramen on your menu like your restaurant in Santa Fe?

Anyone know if they have Gluten-free options?

The quality of the food is great and everything is always aesthetically pleasing as well. I had their avocado bomb on my last visit and I was delightfully surprised with it. I like avocado in most cases, but sometimes, it can be a lot at one. I thought this was going to be like that when I saw it, but I was wrong. I look forward to getting one of these on my next visit! On my last visit my friend and I saved room for a dessert, one that we saw rotating on their screens that they have in the restaurant showcasing some of the menu items. It was a take on a bananas foster. It looked delicious but alas, we'll see if we can manage to get it next time. Note to self, have dessert first on next visit?

It was so good last year that we actually had a conversation with the owner about them being from San Francisco, after I told him it was the best Chinese food I've had in America outside of San Francisco. Well, that has changed significantly, and not for the better. We made a trip down from Santa Fe this week, specifically to eat at Noodle Works. Yes, we drove over an hour each way on Monday just to eat here. What a mistake! It was clear the General Tzo chicken was microwaved and not fresh fried. It was absolutely inedible! Mall food court Chinese is better than this dish was. Strange because almost exactly 1 year ago their General Tzo's dish was among them best I've ever tasted. I know this dish is not authentic, but to serve pre-fried then microwaved chicken is inexcusable! The Singapore Noodle dish this time was incredibly dry. The curry was more like a dry rub stuck to the noodles than it was a real curry sauce. Again... mall food court quality. Another dish that used to be amazing here. The crab in the crab rangoon was so fishy you could smell it before it was even delivered to the table. It had clearly sat out unrefridgerated during prep for far too long. It was inedible, or of fear of getting food poisoning... they did take it off of our bill. We are so disappointed in how bad the quality has fallen off in the last year! We loved them so much in the past that we will give them one more try, but we will not be making a special trip down from Santa Fe to eat here again. We REALLY hope they get their act together because we really like the employees and owner and want to continue to support them. Management did apologize without being prompted for the slow service and poor quality food, so hopefully they know serious improvement is needed if they are to stay in business. We wish them the best because they are great people. Good luck!
