It had been several weeks since we had Asian food. The decision was made that we would get some ramen in Albuquerque. It was either O Ramen or Naruto. Both are located on the same street two doors down from each other. I tried calling both for take out, but, neither of them wanted to answer. So, I drove there instead. We choose Naruto because of the reviews and because my daughter likes the Naruto Manga series. I went inside to place my order my order for takeout. Ordering was easy. The food was ready in about 20 minutes. The ramen came with chashu, fish cake, seasoned egg and bamboo shoots. It had a lot of ingredients. The ramen broth was a tonkotsu pork broth. Surprisingly to me, it was a very good bowl of ramen. It was cheaper than the ramen that I get in California. I don't know if O Ramen is any good, but, Naruto was very good. I liked it. I've been here twice so far and both times were great! The service is awesome and the ramen is solid. I love their amazing soft boiled eggs. Takoyaki was very tasty, too! If you like spice, you can ask for chili paste on the side for an extra kick. There can be a bit of a wait during the lunch rush but not bad at all. I came here with some friends and had a pretty good experience! We did hit a small speed bump at first, as there were three in our party, but only two of us were there at the beginning. The place was dead; we were the only people in the restaurant. The girl told us that she couldn't seat us cause our entire party wasn't there yet. This is a policy I can absolutely understand and get behind, but I feel it was a bit dumb to enforce when the restaurant was empty and every table was open. It seemed a bit rude and off-putting. The food was incredible which makes up for the hiccup. I tried the medium pork fried rice and received a rather large portion that was actually the perfect amount for me. I left very satisfied with only a $7.50 dent in my wallet. We also tried a pineapple sake that was delicious! It comes in a small bottle and isn't particularly strong, but it's sweet and satisfying. DELICIOUS BROTH. The meat was okay, the noodles were the slightest overcooked (but I'm just a super picky person when it comes to noodles) but the broth 100000x made up for it. I ordered the black(?) super rich tonkotsu ramen with a side of the chili paste. The paste tastes a lot like gochujang, and enhance the flavor of the ramen by adding a kick. I got the vegetable ramen and places typically like to toss celery into vegetable ramen. I am not a celery person, I end up picking celery out of ~everything. Much to my surprise and delight - no celery!! The staff was super friendly and attentive, our food came out really quick. The ramen noodles were just the right amount of tender, definitely not soggy and excellent flavor (and did I mention no celery?) with some veggies that were still a bit crispy as a wonderful contrast. I am so very grateful for Naruto being one of the first ramen spots I learned of in Abq. Even though it's in a smaller space than most places, it brings this authentic Japanese feel. Even during peak hours, the wait is never too long. I've learned to come outside of peak hours however just because I tend to get hangry. You won't be let down on service here. The time it takes to get your food along with how good the ramen tastes is worth the 20 minute drive for me. If you think about it, for its size, Albuquerque has a pretty diverse food scene. With that being said, I'm kind of confused on why there aren't more ramen shops considering there are sushi bars on almost every corner. It's a question that I'll just ponder on I guess. Back to Naruto, a small ramen shop on Central just east of University across from UNM. I really like this restaurant, everything is made from scratch and it shows. I always start off with the gyoza, made in house, steamed and seared to a perfect crispiness on one side. They give you little saucers and you make your own dipping sauce with the condiments on the table. This is not the ramen that people think of when they think ramen. I always get the miso ramen when I come here. This is not instant noodles. The broth is thick and rich, full of body from hours of simmering. Each bowl comes with a soft boiled egg, some veggies and cha su, which is Japanese stewed pork. Always delicious and always consistent. I wish this restaurant was bigger and in a strip mall with better parking. Depending on the time of day, parking can be a hassle and there's a line sometimes. No bueno when you're hungry. The staff is always nice and service is fast once you get a seat. Great food, I've not had a bad meal here yet, give Naruto a try if your I this part of town. read more

My food took almost 30 minutes to get to my table after I ordered it and I had to leave without my food because I was on a time crunch. They have signs in there that ask you to limit your stay to 1 hour or less because of limited seating. I showed up probably 15 minutes past 3:00, ordered as soon as I could, and I left at 3:45 because I had to be somewhere at 4. There were maybe 15 people in the restaurant and somehow the kitchen took 30+ minutes to make a dish they're making all day? So yummy! Naruto is not as polished as its neighbor ramen shop however for what it lacks in decor they make up in flavor. I had the pork ramen, green chile shrimp tempura, and cheesecake tempura. All of them were perfect. The noodles to broth proportion was perfect. The noodle texture was perfectly chewy. Unlike the neighboring noodles that taste like they came from the supermarket package. The menu was simple and easy to follow even if you've never had ramen. I got the pork broth and it was super rich. It made me wonder what the rich broth tasted like. I didn't know what to expect with both tempuras when we ordered but I am glad we did. The green chile shrimp tasted exactly like it sounds but better because it was fried, same goes for the cheesecake. Next time someone wants ramen, this is my go to. read more

Food and service is always good here. You can't go wrong with any of the items. We prefer the original location on Central despite that the seating is limited. We just learned to get there early before the crowd gets there or you're definitely waiting. Visited here after reading all the positive reviews on Yelp. Went here for a work lunch on Friday, February 5, 2016. Arrived about 11:45 and we were immediately seated. This place is across from UNM on Central in the student ghetto. There is a competing Ramen restaurant literally two doors down that was empty when walked by, but had customers when we left (not as many as Naruto though). If you go for lunch try to get there before noon, as it got packed shortly after we arrived. After ordering, we were eating ten minutes later and the waiter visited every four minutes to refill water and check on us. The presentation of the dishes was elegant, and it seemed like we were eating artwork. We ordered the Kimchi fried rice which was perfectly cooked and had delicately spiced Kimchi. I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen with super rich broth. This was pork broth with Japanese pickled mustard greens, green onions, an egg, and black mushrooms. To this I added Nori (Seaweed=Japanese Viagra) and Kimchi. The noodles were the star of the show, perfectly al dente, not too soggy or hard. The broth was extremely rich and tasty. The egg was soft boiled and I wished I could make them like this at home. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone that likes Ramen and good service!
