I cannot begin to tell you how amazing my experience was! I went in with a specific car and price in mind. I was expecting to have to fight to get what I wanted. I did not leave with what I intended... I actually got the car of my dreams because of Andre and the staff there. I was going for a used Crosstrek and I walked away with a used Outback. Now I know that might seem unimpressive but let me tell you... The Crosstrek had nice features it was the mood model which is called the Premium package and it ended up being a little out of my range. Do Andre asked me how I felt about the Outbacks. I absolutely love them but they are usually way more expensive. That being said, the Crosstrek was a 2019 Premium and it really made no sense to go with it because the new version was only like $2-3k higher and the 2019 had around 20-30k miles. I can't remember the exact. I purchased a 2017 Outback Limited edition with only 7800 miles on it. It is fully loaded with all the bells and whistles... Leather, he's heated front AND back seats, navigation, and do much more for the same money. Yes I know that it's 2 years older but it had cloth, no navigation, no moon roof, and was basically missing the wow features. Limited to no warranty... I didn't care for the colors I had to choose from. They got the Outback certified so I have 3 years or 36k miles bumper to bumper which includes key fob replacement and programming, electrical and so on. If you are on the market for a car, YOU HAVE TO TRY THEM OUT!!! read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! We trusted Napleton to work on our Escalade as a certified Cadillac mechanic dealership and that was a mistake. Our truck left running worse than it was when we took it in and they have no interest in making it right after contacting them. They made their $220/hr labor through warranty and out of our pocket and suggested we check and change the spark plugs and wires. They didn't check them, only suggested. They didn't fix the problem, only made it worse. I understand paying for quality work and willing to, but also expect the problem to be corrected. Don't waste your time, money, or energy dealing with Napleton. Update: Buttia Brothers diagnosed the problem accurately and fixed it. Seals and gaskets needed to be replaced, which is something that a certified technician should have been able to diagnose and correct. Napleton is not contacting me to take any accountability for their lack of knowledge in diagnosing, after several attempts to contact them. read more

Traded my car in 2019 and purchased a used Subaru (not at a decent price might I add). They sold my trade in to auction, another dealer bought it and sold it to an individual that got into an accident. Surprise to me, the car was still in my name 6 months later. 4 collection agencies later and a wopping $20k in damages claim on my insurance. I called to complain and got a "there's nothing we can do." Then naplton sent me a $10 gas card "for my troubles". I will NEVER buy from any napleton every again. read more

Shortly after purchasing my "new to me" car I learned it burns a quart of oil EVERY 750 miles. I've used 4 quarts of oil already and havn't even driven it 3,500 miles yet. Crazy! While I realize it is 9 years old and it had 117,000 miles on it, I was shocked to learn this. For $12,000 I expected some wear and tear but this was a nasty surprise. When I initially looked at the car the exhaust pipe was mostly clean, a swipe of my finger revealed scant amounts of carbon buildup but I figured its an older car, that this was to be expected. The exhaust had no unusual odor, the engine was clean, sounded good and the oil was clean and full. I literally asked the salesman if there was anything I should know about this vehicle while sitting across from him, at his desk, eye to eye. He said something along the lines of "well, you know, its an older car with higher miles, but its a great car, Subarus are very reliable" He then proceeded to tell me of the things they did to it, including changing the spark plugs. With what I'm sure were fouled spark plugs, the fact they cleaned out the tail pipe and being a Subaru dealer, they knew that this particular year and model (2014 Forester) was known for excessive oil burning and was burning oil at an embarrasing rate. When I asked him about it after I had put in my second quart and knew for sure how bad it was, he said he would ask the used car manager what they could do. After a few days of not hearing back from him I reached out to which he replied that he just ran into that particular manager. The lies flow effortlessly. Its shameful. This guy, and likely his coworkers as well, have absolutley no qualms about lying. I'm embarrased to say I bought my car there. Ultimately they said there was "nothing they could do" as it was out of the warranty period due to its age and that I bought it "as is." While this is legal, I would argue that it's not that they "can't" do anything, but rather that they "won't" and I would add also morally bankrupt. I thought perhaps they would at least offer to pay for the oil, or some other laughably anemic response but they just told me it was an ethical sale (after I said this was an unethical sale) and a good car "for the money." Everytime I look at this car I feel ripped off and violated by Napleton Subaru. Just because they can. And I hate it. I hate having to put a quart of oil in every two tanks. I hate how they ripped me off with a smile and a handshake. And I hate being stuck with the car because I have honor, value honesty and refuse to sell it to someone else without disclosure of known problems. And lets face it- whos going to buy a car that burns through a quart of oil EVERY 750 miles? Probably nobody. I'm stuck with this OIL BURNING LEMON fron Napleton Subaru and they are perfectly fine with it. For all who have read this take it as a cautionary tale. These people will not tell you the truth even with a direct question nor will they do whats rights ethically. Be wiser than I and do your research. DO NOT trust Napleton to do what is right. read more

Our salesperson (Matthew V) did a nice job of presenting the many features of 2017 Outback. As part of the test drive Matthew drove it initially to demonstrate the various electronic safety features. After which, I was able to test drive. The next day we negotiated a price on the Outback prior to a determination of my cars trade-in value. Using several apps including Edmunds and Kelly Blue book I had determined a good ball park price range of what dealers were paying for my model and year of vehicle. Their initial offer was extremely insulting, about $2500 less than the lowest range of dealer prices. I was prepared to walk and they countered with a better offer but still less than the lower range the Apps (Edmunds and Kelly Blue book) had generated. In hind sight I should have walked away or sold the car privately. I hope Napleton Subaru-Rockford was happy with the money they made off me. While I did walk away with a new Outback with a no interest loan, the trade-in price I received still leaves me with a bitter feeling towards them, 3 days later. I was asked if I could come yet today. I rearranged my schedule to make it work. I drive 40 min to this location (the closest one to me) only to find out they don't have the vehicle at this location. But they wanted to sit down and 'talk numbers' to see if we could agree on a price for the trade and if I could afford the payments. Excuse me, how insulting! My issue with this place is the person I worked with. She lied to us off the bag saying she had been working here for over a year but her certificate at her desk said she'd been working there for 3 months. We asked her to pull up a lower trim car that was closer to our price range and she pulled up the most expensive car, the touring. We test drove it and she was trying to convince my husband to make exceptions behind my back like giving up leather or memory seats even buying a car TOTALLY out of our price range. I have a 2014 fully loaded jeep Cherokee and I told her the options my jeep has. She went on and on about selling Jeep's previously. "I know your car doesn't have this" when indeed, my jeep did have that.My husband bought his first Subaru from this dealer and had a great experience. We got texts today of her talking about us in an unprofessional way. I will attach screenshots. Well today I wasn't given choice when it came to installing our headlights (I bought them elsewhere.) The car was brought in for an alignment only.. The said they could install the lights so my husband said sure.. 80 dollars later... I'm angry because we were NOT TOLD the price For the installation of the lights.. I felt as though I was judged and considered a waste of time when trying to lease a car. I wanted to look at prices for a certain trim for the forester and was denied to see them because they weren't in the price range i mentioned earlier being $$ down and $$ a month. I was prepared to pay more than I said, but I was not asked how much money I make, my credit score, etc. when test driving the car I asked to see prices for two other trims and was denied. I would feel as though they should be trying to help me and show me everything rather than deny me of what I'm asking to see (literally just print out the paper and show me) how were these numbers pulled without seeing my credit score? read more

I would like to start by saying the shop and upper management are great. They are responsive, respectful and honest. Now onto the bad, AKA the finance department, AKA Charles in finance. Back in 2018, I purchased a used Subaru Impreza from Napleton Subaru. Upon purchase, I was also sold an 84 month, 100k mile warranty active from the date of purchase. Approximately 3 weeks ago, my car started to smell like it was burning oil. When I took it in for the appointment, I was told that the warranty showed up as expired in their system. I showed my contract, the service department agreed that it was good, and that should have been it. However, the finance department, specifically Charles, decided to complicate it beyond belief. After a week or so of back and forth, I was told to contact Charles in finance. According to him, my car did not qualify for the warranty that I purchased. Basically, his claim was they had gotten the year of my car wrong on the paperwork, despite the registration being available and showing the correct year. Since the car was not able to be Subaru Certified, it could not be loaded into their system. So the warranty was "honored" by being bumped down from an 84 month to a 24 month. Charles claimed a letter was sent (but not on file) that this had happened. I never received a letter, nor was I ever informed of this on the few claims I had previously made. I was then told to come in, void the "incorrect"(84mo) contract, and sign the "correct"(24mo) warranty which was now expired. This did not sit right with me, so after a day of consideration I informed Charles that I was thinking of consulting with an attorney. His response was, "You know kid, there comes a time where you just have to play the best hand that's being dealt to you". Unprofessional. The "best hand" that was dealt to me was the warranty that I BOUGHT. I felt as though I was being punished for the dealership's mistake. This issue was black and white, but the finance department tried their hardest to blur the lines. I understand that mistakes happen, but if I were to give a customer as much grief as I received I am certain I would no longer have a job. Own up to your mistakes, Charles. The issue is now fixed due to Shaun in the shop and Joe at corporate. Throughout this whole ordeal they were the only two who spoke to me in a professional manner and did not talk down to me. Those two deserve an A+. Thank you guys, I really appreciate the help you gave me. read more

I just moved to Rockford and on the first day I arrived in town I set out to find a car. After doing a lot of research online we went to a dealership south of Chicago. That was a huge mistake. I won't get into the details here, but I'll just say it was a horrendous experience. Next stop was Napleton Subaru and we were feeling more than a little wary. As we were on our way Brenna called and asked if/when we were planning to stop by that day. She was really friendly and on top of it, and told us to ask for Todd. We arrived at Napleton and got talking with Todd. He was nice as can be and very professional. We ended up telling him about our last experience and he actually seemed to care. Todd grabs our salesman, Michael Price, and we talk about what we are looking for. Mike is AWESOME. He is so kind, very good about answering questions, and really really patient. Seriously, I would have been irritated with myself that day. Instead, he handled my nerves and questions with grace and let us have ample time to talk alone, too. Shockingly, I did not feel pressured or uncomfortable at all. Once I finally made a decision Charles handled the paperwork swiftly and we had a really nice conversation. A few days later I decided to pick up an accessory and Shawn ordered it for me and had it within a couple days. He was fantastic too! They seriously have a great team here, I can't recommend them enough. Plus there are free car washes if you get a car here! Oh, and the car is stellar too. :) read more

Do yourself a favor, avoid this dealer. I went in with intention to purchase a vehicle. I'm not going to call out the salesman, cause he was absolutely great and patient. However, I specifically asked this online person if the vehicle had any noticeable damage or swirls in the paint. Said no, and of course dumb me believed it. Car was what I like to call "swirl city". Anyway, I said I could forgo that if the price were right. Sit down, and they try to charge me $500 over the asking price for a lot fee or some bs and a detail. I'm like... who in the hell detailed this vehicle, because it looks like you ran it through an automatic car wash and dried it with a set of keys. The interior looked as if someone had taken 4.5 seconds with a vacuum inside of it. Also, this is always built into the asking price of the vehicle. I've worked, and been to dozens of dealers and I've NEVER had that happen to me. Then I presented a ridiculous offer because frankly I was done at this point, and I'm asked to hand over a credit card or check as reassurance that I'm buying the car. At this point, it was walking out time. I'm sorry, but that is just TERRIBLE business practice. I've been in the car business and in sales for 8 years, and I can tell you this was absolutely shocking to me. I can't believe scumbag dealers like this even exist anymore. This dealer is the epitome of why people hate dealerships. Again, not knocking the salesman, but definitely wish he would go to a different dealer where he can excel. read more

He anticipated my needs better than I did, and in the end I chose to get another Forester (a 2015). Mike knew I had a budget to stay within, and he was respectful of that, and -- unlike 2 other dealerships I went to-- he worked with me on the final purchase price and add-on options to my new car. He always responded quickly to my texts and voicemails, and he is very knowledgable of Subaru vehicles. Mike is a genuinely kind person and made my car buying experience easy and pleasant. read more

My mother purchased a 2014 Forester XT from dealership. Sales department was ok but service department has been disappointing. She took vehicle in for oil change and a faulty seatbelt in back seat. The belt locked and would not pull out. They said they fixed. Two days after oil change, car is leaking oil all over garage floor. She takes it back and they say the seal wasn't good and it happens sometimes. Another week passes and the seatbelt doesn't work AGAIN. So now car has to go back a third time to most likely have a part ordered and then make a fourth trip for what should be a simple repair. She lives 40 miles from dealership so this isn't exactly convenient and definitely unacceptable for a car approaching 40k MSRP. Big disappointment, Napleton. read more

Very rude staff. I had the sales person Manny. He was very uptight and I asked to see the inside of 4 different types of SUV. He complained he had to get keys for so many vehicles. When I asked to test drive 2 he gave me the wrong vehicle turbo charged the first time. I drive 20 everyday and I asked if we could go on 20. He would not let me drive on 20 and he kept looking at his watch. He didn't educate me on the car he complained about how hard his job of a car salesmen for the last 21 years.On the second car he let me drive on 20 and complained on how long the test drive was and kept looking at his watch again. I requested another salesman for the third car. His name was Mathew. He would not let me drive on 20 either but told me to go on I90 without an Ipass. When I asked how to run the cruze control he said "Leave that alone. I don't want you to turn it on and run into the back of someone and tell me it doesn't work." He got mad when I figured it out myself. Then he got mad because he told me to exit at the last minute but I could not get over there was a car in my blind spot. So we had to go to the next exit. Both sales man used cuss words casually in sentences while talking. Please go to a different dealership. Never again will I go there. read more

Three Subaru's were bought this year by family members. The first one was a Forester was bought by a veteran and that sale with Tim went okay, except we were pushed because of the 0%. We were pushed to buy it earlier than we wanted because Napleton's kept saying the 0% will be going away for good. We didn't get a very good price on it. The 2nd car was bought by another family member that is in the military out of state. He didn't need the car until July 2017, but because we were told the 0% would go away he bought it in May. He had to pay full coverage insurance for 2 months for it to sit in our driveway until he could pick up his car in July. We figured Tim would be our salesman again, but he was too busy with personal stuff that day that we ended up with Todd. He wanted a certain color and had to pay the dealer swap of $200.00. They didn't dealer prep the car with door protection. Of course the 0% continued and they had his color in, in July. The 3rd sale by another family member was when we were really screwed over. This time there was a trade in and they offered a very low offer on a white AWD 2005 Chevy full size van. They first offered $2000.00 for it and said it was rusty and would not be put on the lot but would go to the auction due to it's age. This time the salesman was Tim, but Todd was also very involved. We were told by Todd to drive towards Chicago to see what Carmax would offer for the AWD Chevy van. They offered $4000.00. I took that to Tim and Todd and Todd said NO! I really wanted $6000.00 for it. At the end of July, Tim texted saying they would give the $4000.00 for the 2005 AWD Chevy Express and I needed to hurry up because there were few base models left and again I was told the 2018's would not be 0%. Once it is gone it won't return. I really wanted to wait until next year to see about the Ascent, but they said the Ascent would start in the upper $35,000.00 with no deals since it is new. So I ended up with a Outback and I could not get the color I wanted. Then there was an issue with the price. We were told a special price on the protection package that Tim gave us and I asked him for the paper and he said he would make a copy but never did. This lie wasn't caught until after the papers were signed and I had to go back to Todd to get it removed and he got nasty. He said we signed the paper agreeing to pay the $995.00 and that he didn't agree with the price we got the car for. It took more than 3 months to get that removed. Oh and the 2018's are all 0%. I could have waited and got the vehicle and color I wanted. We will never buy from them again because of how they treated all 3 of us. No care for families and no respect for the military people. I had talked to Bill Napleton about our experience and he called the other manager over at Subaru and Scott called me and offered me and insulting $100.00 good will credit to use in the service department. After a couple of months of waiting for the $995.00 to be returned I talked to the general manager, Geoff Feinblatt and told him the whole story and he only inquired about the return on our loan and dismissed everything I told him about how we were treated. I also called Subaru of America. No one should feel pressured into buying a vehicle. I regret giving up my white 2005 AWD Chevy Express van especially the way it was handled. It didn't go to auction. All they did was power wash it, put small dents in the hood and shampooed it out and sold it after they reduced the price from $13,000.00 down to $9,992.00. read more

We are very happy with our new Subaru. Matthew Vincent and Todd Tifft were patient and easy to work with. We took a test drive with Matthew, did a bunch of online research and comparison shopping, then ended up making a deal with Napleton. Some of the dealers in the Chicago suburbs were cheaper, but when you factor in a higher sales tax, and the convenience of doing business locally, we took the deal with Napleton. The only surprise was that there was an additional $399 charge for "dealer accessories" that wasn't disclosed to us ahead of time, but we felt like we had gotten a fair price, so we didn't mind too much. Most of prep was done in advance, so we just had to show up, review and sign the paperwork, and go over the features of our new vehicle. Process was relatively quick and painless. read more

We had Napleton dealer locate a car for us. Got a call on Mon that the car was in but needed to be prepped and wouldn't be ready until late Tues or Wed. Seemed like a long time, but we thought maybe they were busy. On Wed., car was in "final inspection" whatever that is. On Thurs, we went to dealer to see what was going on. Car was in the body shop because of "minor imperfections" on the bumper. They said that the bumper wasn't level and the glue was still curing. Sounded fishy so we went to the body shop. Turns out that the "minor imperfections" were several scratches in the paint which required a whole new bumper, a fact they would not have told us if we hadn't gone to the body shop. The final straw was when we turned the car on and discovered that our "new" car already had nearly 500 miles. Sales manager couldn't understand why we wanted our deposit back. We went to Milwaukee and found the exact same car for $400 less. read more

I had to find a sale men, in terms of working with the sales men, he talked me out if buying a car, stating why buy something that one can't pay for and this was before working any numbers on paper. My experience with this dealer started in 2013. Was looking to buy a new Outback. After test driving a car, we contacted them about a price we received from another dealer. No reply. Tried calling, we were told to leave a message, left a message, no reply. Even after talking to the sales manager, we received no call back from any sales rep. 3 weeks later we just bought from the dealer that gave us the quote. I began bringing my Outback to Napleton's for service. 2-3 hours to get an oil change, nearly every time. Had a warranty issue with the drivers seat, they fixed it in a couple days. Picked it up, on my drive away the back of my seat fell off. Brought it back the next day, they put it back on, but without attaching the carpet under the seat to the inside of the seat back. Never went back for basic service. Transmission started acting up a little over a month ago. Brought it in, and they said they couldn't diagnose it because there were no codes showing up (the codes had been accidentally cleared when I had them checked). Their only diagnoses was hooking it up to a computer and then moving on. They said they'd leave the ticket open. Called back a couple weeks later because there were more transmission problems starting. I was told that they believed me, and that they'd find a loaner for me and have me bring it back in, but that they'd call me once they had a loaner. 2 weeks later still no call. Called back when I was driving by and having issues, asked if a tech could run out and I could show him what was going on, wouldn't have taken 5 mins (at the most). This has never been an issue with any other dealership I've dealt with, they said there was no possible way for them to do that, but that they'd schedule another time for me to bring my vehicle in. They never have parts in stock, everything always has to be ordered. Just a joke of a dealership, I'm shocked that Subaru allows them to sell and service their vehicles. read more
