Am very disappointed with the Kunes Service Department. When I initially took my vehicle to them,…read moreand explained the problems, they immediately started talking "Tech Speak" trying to talk over my head. They has no idea I am an Engineer, and have almost 50 years as a Maintenance Manager and Technician in the automotive and aviation fields. When I returned their "Tech Speak" it quickly deescalated their attempt to confuse the situation (i.e. "baffle with BS"). The vehicle has only 11,000 miles on it, and is under warranty. They have no loaners available. I made an appointment to bring the vehicle in, only to be told they are "way backed up" and may not get to my car right away. Because of these things, and them thinking they had fixed it a couple times, I had to bring it back several times. They kept it over night a couple times, getting very little to nothing done the first day. They did replace a couple items, thinking they had fixed it, but to very little avail. I ended up bringing it into them half a dozen times total. Finally they tried to blame my battery for the problems. Since it was the only "Non-OEM" part in the car (I had Advance Auto replace the Mopar battery with a Die-hard AGM battery prior to deciding to bring the car into the Dealership for repair). The battery tested fine with the place I purchased it, but Kunes tried to charge me a couple hundred dollars (fully under new car warranty supposedly) claiming the battery was the problem (?!?) and outside warranty. Advance Auto was very accommodating, even though the battery tested 100%, I convinced them to give me a new one. To no surprise, the new battery changed nothing. I will say this Service Department use to be pretty good, they had a Service Manager named "Chad" back then. Apparently they lost Chad, and it appears their quality of service went with him. I ended up both going to a different Dealership Service Department in a neighboring town, and also communicating with Stellantis support through phone calls, to get a solution to the problem. I have bought more than one vehicle from Kunes Dealerships over the years. There are some good salesmen (Like "Ken P." @ Belvidere). But based on this experience, and others I have had in the past, I would NOT recommend Kunes. Stay completely away from anything "Kunes." Both sales and service, they have issues.

They promised to reimburse me if I bought and programmed a new key myself. I spent $533 doing so, and now they have ghosted me and refuse to return my calls or emails. I should have done more research on the Kunes group's reputation regarding discrimination and poor management before giving them my business. Save yourself the headache and money shop somewhere else. If this is your only option, do not work with Josh Gaudio and Shane Gilwater.

When…read morenegotiating on the second car, a Volvo, I asked them to take it to a Volvo dealership for an inspection, which I paid for (Jack Wolf isn't a Volvo dealership), and to which they agreed. The Volvo dealership did the inspection and sent back a report, but strangely enough no one at Jack Wolf could explain what happened to the report. I guess it was sort of just 'lost accidentally on purpose', if you know what I mean. I contacted the Volvo dealership directly and requested the report, which they sent to me. After reviewing the report, I saw that there were repairs needed on the car, and Jack Wolf agreed to have the repairs done as a condition of me buying the car. A friend drove me over to Jack Wolf on the day I was to pick up the car. I asked for the repair paperwork and compared it with the report. One of the items, a repair worth about $100.00, had been missed. When I brought it up, the Sales Manager stated that they could reimburse me for the charge after the sale as it 'needed to come out of another account'. Well, I knew that was a line at the time, but I wanted the car, and my friend had left, as he had not been feeling well that day, so I was essentially stuck there with no other way to get home. Of course, the reimbursement was never forthcoming. About a year later, I was still thinking about this and wrote a letter personally addressed to Mr. Jack Wolf. I was contacted by phone by the same Sales Manager again, who just hemmed and hawed and didn't do anything. This happened several years ago, but I've never forgotten it. Now that I'm on Yelp, I can finally get this off my chest and warn others about the shady practices at this dealership. Here's a little advice to you, Mr. Jack Wolf. If a customer has a problem with one of your employees, please do not make them talk to that same employee again as a resolution to the problem, especially when that customer has reached out to you directly. I will never give another cent to your dealership, so I hope that $100.00 you saved was worth it.

We purchased a truck form them three years ago and noticed they play Christian music had a warm feeling. Our experience with them that time went well. We went to trade in that truck on 08/15/26 and we had a terrible experience. Our plan was to trade in our truck for a 2026 Durango GT plus and walk out the door having a zero balance. We found the Durango GT plus we wanted-2026 used. On our test drive, we noticed it had a 1/4 tank of gas and our salesperson indicated it would be full at delivery. I also noticed the inside had not been fully detailed and I assumed it would be detailed before we took delivery. That did not happen. During the negotiations, the vehicle price went from the online advertised price of $37,499 to $39,271.37 without us adding anything to it! We were told that the online price is determined by corporate but does not reflect the showroom price. ???? By now it had been 4 hours and we were tired. Since we were not owing anything for the vehicle due to our trade, we agreed. Then we were informed that there was only one key fob. What??? The "deal" they made with us was to take the remaining $272 trade in credit and apply that to a new key fob. When we took delivery of that vehicle having a less than "warm feeling". After researching this the next day, we discovered that there may have been a violation of Illinois Administrative Code Title 14, Section 475.310 regarding advertised price. I complained about the overcharge and asked for an explanation from the sales manager, and was told that there was a $1500 "Accessories fee" and this is customary in the automotive industry, and that Kunes' fee for this is much less than the competitors. ???? I did not get a satisfactory answer but I did get my money for the key fob back and a full tank of gas. I WILL NEVER USE or RECOMMEND KUNES again. I feel as if there were deceptive practices happening, cloaked under a "Christian" banner, and this really upsets me.
