We had used Jack Wolf Chrysler in the past and were very pleased. Wolf was purchased by Kunes about 6 years ago. We purchased a truck form them three years ago and noticed they play Christian music had a warm feeling. Our experience with them that time went well. We went to trade in that truck on 08/15/26 and we had a terrible experience. Our plan was to trade in our truck for a 2026 Durango GT plus and walk out the door having a zero balance. We found the Durango GT plus we wanted-2026 used. On our test drive, we noticed it had a 1/4 tank of gas and our salesperson indicated it would be full at delivery. I also noticed the inside had not been fully detailed and I assumed it would be detailed before we took delivery. That did not happen. During the negotiations, the vehicle price went from the online advertised price of $37,499 to $39,271.37 without us adding anything to it! We were told that the online price is determined by corporate but does not reflect the showroom price. ???? By now it had been 4 hours and we were tired. Since we were not owing anything for the vehicle due to our trade, we agreed. Then we were informed that there was only one key fob. What??? The "deal" they made with us was to take the remaining $272 trade in credit and apply that to a new key fob. When we took delivery of that vehicle having a less than "warm feeling". After researching this the next day, we discovered that there may have been a violation of Illinois Administrative Code Title 14, Section 475.310 regarding advertised price. I complained about the overcharge and asked for an explanation from the sales manager, and was told that there was a $1500 "Accessories fee" and this is customary in the automotive industry, and that Kunes' fee for this is much less than the competitors. ???? I did not get a satisfactory answer but I did get my money for the key fob back and a full tank of gas. I WILL NEVER USE or RECOMMEND KUNES again. I feel as if there were deceptive practices happening, cloaked under a "Christian" banner, and this really upsets me. read more

DO NOT USE THIS DEALERSHIP. they deceive you and string you along dragging you into their dealership to sit for 3 hours or more each time. I told them from the start my credit wasn't good at this time and that I had no money down. They called and text and said they will get me a vehicle and to trust them. I currently have to use a walker to get around and told them coming there was hard on me. I jumped through all the hoops they required and then was told we don't currently have a vehicle that would work for you with the bank. Told me I would need a substantial down payment (3k) or a cosignor then they could possibly help me. This was after weeks of going in there. The first week they had a van they claimed that would have worked but they sold it and don't hold vehicles. Then lied to me for a month and strung me along. I'm mad at myself for trusting shifty salesman Victor and the manager Josh. Just know walking into Kunes in Belvidere - you are taking your chances if you don't have great credit and 3k down. read more

Dylan is a very straight - forward and honest professional. He answered all my questions about a given vehicle and keep me posted as to it's status as I had to make a 450 'run' to see it. Thank you. read more

Never again will i purchase at Kunes. The worst dealership I've ever dealt with. After spending 30k on a vehicle. You would think they would help us with any problem we have. The excuse was always. We're under staff and we have no rental vehicles while we get our car fixed. read more

How can I start to make this review... So I'll begin just from the start, I bought a Chrysler Pacifica at Jeep of Chicago.. with unknown issues seems like the dealer just wanted to get the money but never made sure the car was running right,... As a new neighbor in poplar Grove I found kunes GMC, in Belvidere... Since I bought a warranty for my princess Pacifica... I took it to the shop.. Casey took it upon himself to call the warranty and make sure that they will check every item that was malfunctioning.. above All odds, he helped me prove my car had many issues when I bought it... Jeep Chicago gave me the run around .. I was very upset.. thousands of dollars I thought gone down the drain. That's when Casey stepped in and helped me prove that was not my fault and the warranty should cover most of the items . After almost a month I went to pick up my Chrysler Pacifica it now runs free as a bird, the way you should be since the beginning... Thanks to my hero Casey at kunes that helped me believe in miracles... I'm such a happy customer and will definitely come again for any other issues in any of my cars... Please come and see Casey he can work miracles of course along with his team standing behind him... I will forever be grateful for the shop and for finding people that really care about their customers... I almost felt he took care of me like if I was his daughter... More than above and beyond he is a hero in my eyes. So greatful read more

Thiefs! I am dumfounded and the audacity of these people! My wife traded in her car and removed the iPass. As we did not travel on Christmas, I did not immediately change the iPass information. I went on the iPass website today and see that the car she traded in has been driving on the tollway and did not have a new iPass so I got charged close to $20. Horribly dishonest!! read more

At the end of February 2024, my check engine light came on. We took it into Kunes in Belvedere, Illinois. The part it needed was back ordered. They were kind enough to let us use a loaner car. Fast forward to October/November 2024, the part FINALLY came in. But this is where things went haywire. Depending on who you talk to, the car was fixed, and put on the lot with the hood not totally latched. Or the car had a dead battery and they maybe pushed it out from the building to jump it. By the way, the car is electric. The battery is in the trunk. Anyway, a strong wind gust came and blew the hood up and consequently the hood flipped back and wrecked my car. They took the car to their body shop 30 miles away, without my knowledge. We kept calling to find out when my car would be ready, after all, GM had told us that the part had arrived. They finally around November 20th, told us that the car was wrecked, and their legal department was reviewing it. And then silence. We called and waited. Then it seems that the paralegal was supposed to notify the insurance company, but she didn't, and then she was on vacation. Around December 20, the insurance company finally contacted us, and asked about our faulty hood latch. Really? The insurance company has finally told us how much we will receive for my totaled 2017 car. Not as much as I would have expected, but we have tried to be gracious during this debacle. Yesterday, we found out the price of one of the cars we have been looking at. Kunes did not drop the price by even one dollar. When we asked about that, we were told that it belongs to a different Kunes, so they can't drop the price. I thought they were all owned by the Kunes family? They were negligent, and we have been lied to, we have been ignored, we have never raised our voices. And yet, they expect us to give them more money after they destroyed my car. According to their website and all of their advertising, "Kunes Auto Group has stayed true to our values with our slogan of Faith, Family, and Giving Back. These four words embody what Kunes Auto Group is all about." Faith and Values? We feel that is an advertising ploy for trying to show how wonderful they are. 1 John 1:6 NLT "So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth." I will not EVER buy a car from them, or even go there for service. read more

Called me, I told them the same thing as in my texts. Noooo we will and can get you a vehicle, I'm like you sure before I waste time and gas from Freeport il to Belvidere il? Yup come on in etc. Waste 3 plus hours and probably $20 $30 in gas, oooooooo sorry we can't help you we lied. Absolutely abysmal communication from the service department, combined with outrageous charges- do not recommend.

While looking for a car, people told me NOT to go to Kunes, so what did I do? Go to Kunes. I wish I would had listened better. I love my Jeep. Is it over priced? Absolutely. The one thing that bothers me the most is that they weren't up front about the price. I saw the online price, so I just assumed that's the price I got. My dealer told me that it was a little bit more than online (why would you post a price online that you aren't keeping in store beats me)- however everything is included such as tire and rim service, etc. They told me a monthly price and I just went with it- especially because I was in desperate need of a car and my credit was good. I didn't actually find out the complete price until I started making monthly payments. Outrageous. And then I started noticing marks on the car- which, I'll admit- we should had looked over the car at purchasing, but since we were both first time car buyers from a dealership, I looked past it. Do I love my Jeep? Absolutely. They gave us a free first oil change, and I'll admit I love the service they provide. Skip to several months later, our car was in an accident. I took it to get repaired (back axel damage- which the guys at Kunes- shout out- noticed, however when I take it into the shop, suddenly I have front axle damage too. This is just crazy to me, mostly because the front was never damaged. But now looking at the dent when we initially purchased, I'm wondering if they didn't disclose other information to us. Like i said- I love my Jeep and I love the service. Everyone is very nice. Will I rethink purchasing another car here? Absolutely. read more

Thank you Kevin Salazar you was so much help with the purchase of our son's car. Thanks Kevin!

I purchased a vehicle there on June 18th. within 2 days, i reported to the salesman, the issues with the vehicle. by the time I got an appointment on August 3, It cost me $165.00 to diagnosis everything I said was wrong with it and they want to charge me over $1,100.00 to fix the issues.. This place has a system all planned out for bringing people to the store by misleading them into pre approval I talked to a guy named Tyler over the phone after I inquired about a car online. gave him my info and e said he had me approved for the money monthly and what he'd pay for my trade in. So he see me to come meet him and he would be there the next day from 9-9. I made an appointment and went just to find out he works from home. Then they pushed another salesman on me and reran my paperwork just to tell me the payment would be $600 a month from the $300 he told me over the phone. They run a scheme to lure people under false pretense. They can f'off. They are the reason people hate buying cars. Liars, scammera like the saying says, never trust a car salesman. read more

Watch out for them this time of year. it's when the scams come out!! This company doesn't give a crap about the customer. They're just looking for the next poor sap they can scam. DON'T EVER BUY A CAR FROM HERE. They are scam artists. There was no sticker price on the vehicle, and I was told 1 price, was supposed to be getting trade in value and an additional discount. Which they then applied AFTER raising the original price that was told to me to basically wipe out my trade in and additional discount, without any notice. Tried to bring the vehicle back the very next day, once I realized what they had done, and basically got told to shove it. If you want to be the victim of a "BAIT AND SWITCH" then Kunes is your place read more

Bought a performance vehicle from then, the whole experience was bad. Drove the car for maybe 100miles and it lost power. Motor is bad and I'm pretty sure it was sold to me that way. Dealt with them for over a month for them to tell me I'm on my own. They did nothing to help. read more

I won't buy anything from kunes ever again! They sold me a lemon! I paid $30,000 for what they told was a good used truck. I kept up with routine maintenance regularly. One year later the motor is junk and has to be completely rebuilt! I wouldn't buy a bicycle from them! 0 stars from me! read more

I purchased a GMC Arcadia from this dealer. I explained what my family needed and trusted them to be honest. They showed me the vehicle and how it had just came in from supposedly 1 owner. Test drove it and it appeared to be fine. After I purchased it and put it on the highway the problems began. After 55mph it started to shake and when winter hit electrical problems and the transmission started slipping whenever I had to stop uphill. I would have to roll backwards until it flat enough to catch. Embarrassing! Wanted charge a large amount of money to fix it or wanted several thousand more to exchange for only Yah knows what! Now I am in even more debt. Thanks for helping me establish credit! worse than before. read more
