He was very kind and courteous and took time to listen. I brought in our van at 7am on Monday, when they first open and he took time to better understand the situation and promised a phone call follow up. About 845 he called to give me four options on how to fix it. I never felt pressured to handle it a certain way and it was obvious he is there to provide great customer service. I approved the work and had the van back at the end of the day. So far, so good. Price was fair for the amount of work that was done, and certainly beats anything you would pay at a dealer. Turns out I had some work done at a dealer back in June and they didn't catch something that Powders did. Very happy to have found a great shop this quickly upon arriving in Rockford.

They got me right in which was nice but they then tell me that I have the wrong gasket and if I was gonna buy one from them it would cost me $90.00 for a $12.00 gasket.. So I asked them if I could run to the parts store and grab it and bring it back which they said was fine.. I get back within 15 minutes and they all went on lunch so I sat there for a hour waiting for them to get back.. I notice the guy once he was done working on my car turn it on to test it to make sure it sounded fine and wasn't loud anymore... I then get a phone call from them because I was outside in the parking lot so I walk in and they proceed to tell me that the gasket wasn't sealing properly and they'd need to cut a section out and re-weld a new section in which was them straight up lying to me in hopes I'd say yes so they can charge me more... Not knowing I'm a mechanic I ask them is my car quiet again to which they replied yes so I said then why would I do what you recommend and they said nothing.. Moral of this story is this place will try to bullshit you into thinking your car needs more work than it actually does and I'd recommend going somewhere else honestly where the people are more honest..

So it took longer than you had hoped, but who else in town gives a loaner out while we are getting our car repaired? If I would have had to rent a car for that time it would have been over $350!!! So my vehicle broke down on me 10 days ago. It needed a tow so I decided to have it taken to Tuffys…read moresince I live in the area. This was Monday night. After talking to Tuffys on the phone I was assured they would get right on it the next day. Well I live near the shop so I drive by daily and my vehicle did not move one inch from that spot for 10 days until I had it towed to a different shop. The kicker is Tuffys got an attitude about me taking it...they actually said they were about to roll it into the shop just when the tow truck pulled up! What a coincidence. Anyway they charged me $55 before I could take my car. Mind you they didn't even look at it. It just sat there for 10 days. Needless to say I'm done with Tuffys!
