My husband mixed up the days and our daughter's appointment was actually the next day, but they squeezed us in and took care of us anyway!

The entire staff made us feel so welcome and comfortable. Squeezing us in at an earlier appointment from the start. Getting checked in quickly with Sarah and Gina at the front desk! Chelsea had so much patience and explained every little step to my nervous guy as she cleaned his teeth AND successfully got his x-rays. Dr Shaffer was a very calming presence and everyone respected my sons boundaries and never pushed or rushed him to get anything done. Not to mention the facilities and the aesthetic of the place looking amazing. I'm so glad my son has a place like Howdy Dental to put him at ease. I highly recommend them.

Instead, she was left lying in the chair for over 30 minutes--no explanation, no reassurance, nothing. Just sitting there, staring at the ceiling while I kept glancing around wondering if someone was going to acknowledge us. When the dentist finally came in, the cleaning was so quick it felt like we were just being rushed out. And here's the kicker: my daughter still had visible stains on her teeth when we left. Isn't the whole point of a cleaning to actually clean? And don't get me started on I believe her name was Sheryl at the front desk. I mentioned our concerns and got a fake smile and the most passive response imaginable--like we were just being dramatic. Absolutely no urgency or care. For a pediatric office, this place seriously lacks warmth, professionalism, and basic attention to detail. It feels like a gentrified money laundering scheme. We will not be returning.

This review of Alora Dental is especially for my fellow neurodivergent adults seeking dental care…read more As many of us know, once we find a place, doctor, or even a favorite coffee shop that works for us, we're not easily persuaded to make a change. Here's what I've found with Dr. Bendi and the entire team at Alora Dental. They're on time. Waiting and uncertainty can throw off an entire day, so this matters more than many people realize. I've even felt comfortable texting the front desk before my appointment to ask if they're running on schedule, and they've always been kind and helpful. The sensory environment is also manageable and predictable. The lighting is bright but not overwhelming, which is to be expected in a dental office. The temperature is usually comfortable, though occasionally a little cool. The office has a neutral smell, and the staff wear little to no overpowering fragrances. Most importantly, I feel known, respected, and genuinely cared for. Dr. Bendi is gentle, thorough, and consistently puts both my overall health and dental health first. I especially appreciate his understanding that many neurodivergent people process information through bottom-up thinking. He takes the time to explain details rather than expecting blind trust, and that makes a tremendous difference. This may only be my second or third public review, but I felt compelled to write it. I hope it helps others find a reliable, honest dentist--especially those of us who need information, predictability, and understanding in order to feel safe and comfortable receiving care.

When I checked in, I confirmed that I was there for a consultation, and the front desk said yes. After waiting about 20 minutes in the lobby, I was brought into a room and told by an assistant that I was there for a teeth cleaning and X-rays. I explained that I had just had a recent cleaning with my regular dentist and already had X-rays. After waiting again, I was then told they could not do an exam without taking new X-rays. They offered to do them for free, but that felt odd to me since this is supposed to be a more health-conscious form of dentistry, and I didn't want unnecessary X-rays. No one told me ahead of time that I should have my existing X-rays transferred over, which is something I could have easily done before the appointment had I known. Overall, it was a very frustrating experience. The staff did not seem clear on the purpose of my appointment, and the communication felt disorganized. The work I was considering is not inexpensive, and as a potential new patient, I would have expected the office to handle a consultation inquiry with more care and professionalism.

It was one of the best "doctor" experiences I've had in my life: The office is immaculate and kid-oriented. Everyone was so friendly and relaxed. My kids read princess books, played with toys and watched videos while Dr. Angie and I talked extensively about my children's dental hygiene and diet. She was a great listener and respected my choice not to have my children's teeth x-rayed. I sat with my daughter while she had her teeth cleaned and my son was jealous of all the praise and attention she was receiving -- he couldn't wait to have his teeth cleaned too! Most importantly, my daughter's teeth looked great. She had a lot of tartar build-up and her teeth looked fantastic after Dr. Angie's cleaning. Will never take my kids anywhere else!

I was crystal clear as to what our insurance and financial options were. Dr. Ring said she would take care of us or send us to someone that could. What instead happened was we were hit with over $2,000.00 in patient cost beyond our insurance 6 days before a surgical procedure and told that a child with a recent tooth abscess died. Dr Ring could have said "My office charges above insurance rates and I don't take Medical I don't think I can help you in your situation." We would have been on to another dentist that takes our insurance (two private and one state) and not very delayed at treating our son. Not to mention all the time and per-surgery appointments wasted at Kaiser. Setting up a dental procedure with a special needs child is complicated enough without dentist playing mind games. Even if you can afford the service I'd be careful entrusting your children with someone that's emotionally dishonest and treats children in pain as something to be used to negotiate with.

I'm so happy to have found Dr. Yarris and his office who have a positive vibe while offering restorative, implants and cosmetic dentistry. Dr Yarris is hands on, listened to my concerns then offered different ideas and plans. I was so well cared for, comfortable and confident in Dr. Yarris that when I left the office I immediately called my daughter, who is deeply afraid of dentists, and told her this was the dentist for her too!

That said, I want to offer some feedback about an experience I had with a dental assistant during my 3:00pm appointment on 4/9/2026. Right away, she asked about getting x-rays since I didn't have any on record. That's completely fair, and I explained that the delay had been due to insurance issues. Her response was, "Oh, so we're just gonna cross our fingers with a cleaning and not catch anything underlying that you might have?" It was an aggressive way to speak to a patient, and her attitude made it feel like she was cornering me into the x-rays rather than having a conversation about them. I told her clearly that I had no issue getting them done and that I wanted to prevent any bigger issues down the road. I did let her know ahead of time that I've historically struggled with a strong gag reflex, and I asked if she could offer some flexibility or support while taking the images. Instead, she shamed me for it, saying, "Well, if little kids can take it, so should you." When we attempted the x-rays and I had trouble, she gave up almost immediately, said "okay, we aren't doing this," and then openly talked about my difficulty with her colleagues within earshot. I was actively asking her to try again or explore other options, and her response was, "No, if you can't do these, there's no helping you. You're just gonna have to hope you don't develop something over time." I've never had a care provider speak to me with that kind of demeanor. It wasn't until Monce, the head receptionist, stepped in that things turned around. She approached me with genuine compassion, asked about my concerns, listened to my history with x-rays, and reassured me she'd do her best to help me get through them. And we did -- we got the images. I've never felt so supported in a moment like that. Even after Monce offered to help, I could still hear the dental assistant complaining that "he can't do it" and then telling Monce the x-ray chair was suddenly busy. Monce advocated for me anyway, and I'm so grateful she did. I really tried to hold my tongue during all of this, but no patient should be spoken to or treated that way. This is the first negative experience I've ever had at this office, and I truly hope it's the last. My three stars are entirely for Monce and Dr. Travis, who delivered the level of care I needed and deserved that day.

When the front office staff tell you they didn't even know you were still there waiting, that is a bad sign. When they demand that you sign a financial responsibility form for care they plan to perform on you, nobody goes over the costs of the work, which portion of the care is the patient responsibility, and get snippy with you for not signing; it's a bad sign. The front office staff were NOT engaged in the tasks at hand, it appeared they were having a talk among themselves about non-work related issues, and I felt like I was bothering them when I would check in about how much longer I'd be sitting in their lobby. During my care, the dental hygienist was very thorough, but also explained EVERYTHING in WAY too much detail and also there was some weird vibe going on between her and the actual Dentist. I don't remember his name, but it most definitely was not Dr. Nelson, this dentist was new to the practice; he seemed nice enough to me, but there was like I said, some weird tension between him and the hygienist and they DID NOT work well together. I am not certain who's responsibility it is to ensure a smooth visit for the patients, but it should be somebody's. Needless to say, I won't be back. I hope Dr. Nelson is able to find a staff who works well together, is engaged in the practice, and more experienced with giving great client care and service.
