Horrible dentist!! I have tried two weeks in a row to get an appointment. I told them I could only do early morning several times. They only text you when there is an issue. The first time I got rescheduled because they didn't have staff then I got a text 40 minutes before my appointment the 2nd time saying they don't have the doctor until 8am. When I said I couldn't do 11 am again, they scheduled me for that anyway didn't say anything but I kept getting their automatic messages. Here are the texts they are horrible!! Oh and when you try to call after they text you, you can't get them and they auto text you!

Worst dentist office I've ever been to. 1) The rooms are noticeably missing typical sterile coverings and drapes on their equipment. The technician was even using the keyboard and mouse (uncovered) in-between placing the x-ray insert in my mouth. I told him about this and he apologized and wiped down the mouse. Usually the offices I visit, all the water and suction tools also have sterile wrap on them that is replaced between each patient, some even do this in front of you so you're sure it's new sterile wraps. 2) After the x-rays I legitimately waited in the room for an hour before the doctor came in. She looked at my teeth for ~1 minute and said my teeth were fine and healthy. She then said she recommends the deep clean for me and that I'd have to schedule it and come back. [BACKGROUND: When I scheduled the appointment as a new customer I told them I want to have my checkup and cleaning on the same day because I have to get a baby sitter for the trip, they said sure and gave me a day that the hygienist would be in the office.] I informed the Dr. that I wanted to just get a standard cleaning today instead of the deep cleaning later. She said "Since I recommended the deep cleaning, I can't give you the standard cleaning". I reminded her that she just informed me my teeth were fine, why do I need some special "deep cleaning"? And I asked what the price difference is. She told me "neither cleaning is covered by insurance so both would be out of pocket" , that she "won't talk finances with me", that she had "other patients and couldn't give [me] a cleaning today". (Shouldn't the hygienist that was supposed to be here be doing my cleaning?). I said, fine, I'll go talk to the office manager about the price difference and consider the deep cleaning. 3) When I got to the front reception, I was handed a quote for $520 out of pocket for the "deep cleaning", and was told to ignore the $0 in the insurance column because "we don't bill insurance, we just give our customers the discount directly. It would normally be about $1500 but since you have insurance, we discount you down to $520". Seeing that as a red flag...I asked "why would you simply discount me $1000 because I have insurance, when you're not going to bill the insurance company for anything?". Normally, they bill the insurance $1500 (for example), insurance pre-agrees to pay $1000, and they bill you the remaining $500 for example. I was told, "it's just how we have it set up here". My GUESS is...most of their patients are "recommended" to get deep cleanings even if they don't need it. And to keep it off the insurance radar (because it would be a red flag to them) they don't bill or notify insurance. Of course when I asked how much a standard cleaning would be, she said $0 because it IS covered by insurance, but since the doctor already recommended a deep cleaning, they could not provide that service to me. I left, with no future appointment schedule. Spent an hour and a half there and only got x-rays and the doctor to look at my teeth for 1 minute.

The front desk was excellent but once you're in the back, you kind of feel you're on an assembly line. Very little "bed side manner."

Terrible service, makes appointments then doesn't have the parts to do the service it's supposed to do. Not once but many times.

That said, I want to offer some feedback about an experience I had with a dental assistant during my 3:00pm appointment on 4/9/2026. Right away, she asked about getting x-rays since I didn't have any on record. That's completely fair, and I explained that the delay had been due to insurance issues. Her response was, "Oh, so we're just gonna cross our fingers with a cleaning and not catch anything underlying that you might have?" It was an aggressive way to speak to a patient, and her attitude made it feel like she was cornering me into the x-rays rather than having a conversation about them. I told her clearly that I had no issue getting them done and that I wanted to prevent any bigger issues down the road. I did let her know ahead of time that I've historically struggled with a strong gag reflex, and I asked if she could offer some flexibility or support while taking the images. Instead, she shamed me for it, saying, "Well, if little kids can take it, so should you." When we attempted the x-rays and I had trouble, she gave up almost immediately, said "okay, we aren't doing this," and then openly talked about my difficulty with her colleagues within earshot. I was actively asking her to try again or explore other options, and her response was, "No, if you can't do these, there's no helping you. You're just gonna have to hope you don't develop something over time." I've never had a care provider speak to me with that kind of demeanor. It wasn't until Monce, the head receptionist, stepped in that things turned around. She approached me with genuine compassion, asked about my concerns, listened to my history with x-rays, and reassured me she'd do her best to help me get through them. And we did -- we got the images. I've never felt so supported in a moment like that. Even after Monce offered to help, I could still hear the dental assistant complaining that "he can't do it" and then telling Monce the x-ray chair was suddenly busy. Monce advocated for me anyway, and I'm so grateful she did. I really tried to hold my tongue during all of this, but no patient should be spoken to or treated that way. This is the first negative experience I've ever had at this office, and I truly hope it's the last. My three stars are entirely for Monce and Dr. Travis, who delivered the level of care I needed and deserved that day.

The offices are…read morevery sleek, organized and clean with gaming systems to play on along with complimentary coffee & hot chocolate. While I'd already recommend NVO due to the positive care I received, I'd also recommend it due to the family discount offered to related customers . Front desk staff are incredibly friendly and kind along with the other orthodontist staff that attend to customers during appointments (rather than Dr. Kuniharo himself). Dr. Kuniharo is also very friendly, chats are generally short but he's remembered my family members who've been past customers. I have a two critiques that are overall nitpicky; 1. During consultation it's stated that you can get MULTIPLE colored bands on your braces, including a rainbow. When I came in requesting 4 colors I was told I was only getting it due to it not being busy. I can easily understand this rule, but don't state things so simply during consultation only for it to not be completely true. 2. I noticed an issue on one of my brackets being crooked, this was due to the fact that my teeth had shifted and the bed was fully exposed instead of partially. I asked if the bracket had to be reapplied, I was told no. Dr. Kuniharo then came over to review my teeth and told the orthodontist that the bracket had to be reapplied. Essentially pay attention to the care you're receiving, your concerns may be incorrect but be sure to speak them aloud! 3. I was never told when my last braces appointment would be, this was upsetting as I had planned for my final set to be rainbow colored! It was just a let down as I was quite excited to have rainbow teeth for a month. Within the 18 months of my braces care (the estimated time I was given) these were my only complaints. To have the smoothest experience just follow the instructions you're given, wear your bands or retainers and you'll be good. If you're looking to get any ortho related work done I'd definitely attend a consultation with NVO to get a feel for the place! I'm very happy with the results of my teeth and have grown much more confident, along with improving my overall teeth health as I don't clench as heavily.
