I have spent all of my adult life not going to the dentist unless something hurt and I had to go. My fear of the dentist stems from trauma when I was younger and has kept me from taking care of my teeth. Since starting with Dr Daw one year ago although I still have huge anxiety it has lessened and I know go every 6months get me teeth cleaned and handle any work that needs to be done ! Everyone is very nice and helpful. My past experiences with dentists is not very good. Going to Dr. Daw's office had been incredibly pain free. Dr. Marcelo was awesome when I needed a crown. Really surprised by a dental office I had faith in. Dr. Daw quoted me $1,800 per tooth for bridge work after insurance. Paid the bill when the work was done. THEN, months later, they tell me my insurance did not cover that code and I paid $2,200 MORE! So, evidentially Dr. Daw used me to experiment billing process? Really, this could not be his first attempt at billing bridgework! And I thought Western Dental was bad. read more

If there were a minus 5 stars is the score I would give to this office and to these dentists, according to them, I went because of a small cavity, I would take it. the x-rays and according to Dr. Marcelo it was just a small cavity but she is not professional, she made a cavity that was too large in my tooth and touched the nerve and the worst thing was the unbearable pain I had, I couldn't eat but with the last two teeth and then she told me that I needed two root canals and two crowns for my teeth I told her that it was okay for her to take care of the costs of the treatment and that was where Dr. Jonh got into the matter and told me that they would not be responsible for anything. I told them that then I would seek legal advice and the man said that As I would like, I ordered my rhyographs to ask for another opinion in another office and they sent me the x-rays hiding my name and their name. The new dentist spoke to Jonh D Daw's office requesting my x-rays and they lied and said that I was never a patient of theirs. The worst thing is they are not there to help you, they are there to fill their pockets with your money, a lot of negligence on their part, I do not recommend them, be careful. read more

I recently got a sleep apnea device from Dr. Daw and I feel incredible. I had tried a CPAP but for whatever reason I would take it off in my sleep and have a lot of nose dryness. After several years of being a patient, having had several procedures done that cost me lots of $$, and after years of doing their "deep cleanings" that are not covered as a regular cleaning by my insurance, I have been "fired" by Dr. Daw. I missed a makeup appointment for a cleaning after the terrible fires last year, and a couple weeks ago I completely forgot about a cleaning until the office called. I asked to reschedule but was told by the head of reception that "Dr. Daw does not think you are a good fit for this practice". I tried to explain that my wife has Guillain-Barre' Syndrome and had just recently got out of the hospital for 7 weeks. She's in a wheelchair and my life has been a little crazy while also taking care of our 3 year old daughter. So with all of that going on, yes, I did completely forget about the dental cleaning appointment I had scheduled. I received no sympathy and my explanation only seemed to sharpen the tone of a head office person I will not name. This is not the first time I've had a run in with her and all of my negative experiences with this practice have had to do with her. I called back and asked to speak to Dr. Daw, since he was quoted as saying "I was not a good fit" but now a couple weeks later I have never heard from him. Something tells me he either does not know about my issue, or his head of reception told him and he doesn't care. Dr. Daw, I hope you read this as I'm not sure how else to communicate with you directly. Your name is on the door of your practice so it would be great to hear directly from you instead of your receptionist who speaks on your behalf. I was completely satisfied with the level of care you gave and would have had lots more business to send your way. But because of the way your front office has treated me I will be glad to move onto one of the other dozens of dentists in Napa since you don't think I'm a good fit. read more

Dr. Daw was recommended to me by a friend when I moved to Napa 2 years ago. His staff and care are amazing! I can't imagine anyone not being impressed with him and his service. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a new dentist or who just moved to town. He doesn't recommend unnecessary treatments, with my yearly cleanings I'm in and out quickly, and they bill directly to my insurance. So easy, pleasant and wonderful! read more

Loved Dr Daw. But I couldn't handle the front staff. If you need to cancel an appt (with at least a weeks notice I might add) you have to wait another 6 months for an appt lol it's like they like to punish you for canceling! I have 3 active children that I have no clue what their schedule will be when I'm making their next appt. When I was searching around for a new dentist I came across all kinds including a dentist who offered paraffin waxes and hot stone massages while you get your work done. While I always love a good massage, that is not what I want in my dentist. I want a dentist who is focused on the health of my teeth getting what I need done quickly, painlessly and for the least amount of money. That's what I got at Dr. Daw's office. He is the only dentist in the office so you always get your dentist and not whoever is available like at some of the bigger practices. His staff is super friendly and really helpful. I especially love Bonnie at the front desk. I work out of town and have a 7 month old and she is always so great at finding appointments that work with my schedule as well as calling me a couple days ahead to remind me. I have been terrified of dentists since I can remember. For that reason I have been putting off getting dental work done for some time. A friend of mine recommended Dr. Daw, as she's had good experiences there. I was very glad she did. The staff are very approachable and friendly. I got cavities filled and deep cleanings - they were pain-free. The office uses Care Credit, if you need more time to pay off your bill. I also needed some paperwork filled out by Dr. Daw, and he was very accessible and helpful. Most importantly, I felt very comfortable there and have no more irrational dental fears. read more

I sing in a community choir, and a veneer came off my front tooth on Saturday, Dec 15. With a concert the following afternoon, I was in a panic! Dr Daw came in on SUNDAY morning and cemented my veneer back on! In addition to feeling that I was in competent hands, Dr Daw explained every step in a very calm, patient manner. I got my smile back-just in time for a successful concert! Thank you, Dr Daw And for those needing a crown, he has the new equipment to fashion a permanent crown IN THE OFFICE!! Wow! No waiting 2 to 3 weeks with a temporary crown, drinking milkshakes...hoping the dang thing won't fall off. No! In and out with a permanent fix in under 90 minutes! My bad (as the kids say). I thought I had written a review re Dr. Daw, but I don't see it anywhere. I avoided going to the (any) dentist for the last 12 years (went twice in the last 12 years only for emergency repairs).. Last year I decided to be proactive. I trust YELP, and found Dr. Daw and was happy to see that he "fit" within-in my dental plan. I love this dentist and this office, and all the hygienist, etc.! I had a filling done and about 6 weeks later I had to have an urgent root canal for a tooth infection. I think the dentist cracked my tooth and did not inform me. I now have another tooth infection so my tooth is likely cracked and now I have to have it removed. read more

Both my husband and I are patients and Dr. Daw is an excellent dentist and overall practitioner who really pays attention. His office is very professional and friendly and the staff is on point. Dr. Daw has treated us with a very high level of care and expertise. He even made a very informed diagnosis for me that was connected to my jaw. He can make crowns in his office with a laser jet and his prices are very fair. Great results. Both my husband and I have always been able to get in to see Dr. Daw on an emergency basis. Yes, if you miss you your cleaning appointment you have to get on a waiting list but we have always been treated quickly. They will call you with openings. Dr. Daw is a nice person who is proficient to do the job. He is a newer dentist and there are some he cannot fix and depend on another dentist. Overall I have a very positive experience. The only thing is the receptionist that insisted to or forced me to fix something that I will never ever like it. The receptionist is a good person but that ruins overall service. If you miss an appointment be ready to wait another 6 to 9 months for a reschedule date. Also, they can be hard to reach by phone. Most times that I've called I get voicemail, which can be annoying when it's a simple matter that you're trying to cross off of your to-do list. I love Dr. Daw's office. Everyone is super friendly. I always have a lot of questions and they are always happy to answer. Dr. Daw takes his time with each patient and you never feel like you're keeping him from something. I hate dentists that are in and out before you have time to open your mouth. While I haven't had to get a filling or other procedure done with him yet (Clean bill of mouth!) he seems to be on the up side of technology. I raved so much about Dr. Daw to my boyfriend that he switched from another dentist (who had an "insurance" agent tell him how much work was going to cost prior to anyone seeing him) to Dr. Daw. My boyfriend needs a single veneer replacement and Dr. Daw stated they can do it in office, instead of having a temporary put on for a few weeks while the real veneer comes in through the mail. I had 4 veneers done over a year ago in a different office (cosmetic) and spent 4 miserable weeks in temporary veneers so this is a great thing for him. read more

They explained procedures and costs thoroughly and options to not spend the money. Absolutely fantastic and exactly what I would want from a dentist office. Dr. Daw and staff are the best in the business! I really liked everybody after my initial visit (cleaning and x-rays), but wanted to see how I felt after having some work done. I am happy to say that 2 fillings and a crown later, I still can't sing their praises enough! I let them know up front that I have a huge phobia of dentists and Dr. Daw couldn't have been more gentle, walked me through all the processes, and was genuinely concerned that I was ok throughout my entire appointment. I've been a patient of Dr. Daw's for several years now and I'm so happy with his care! He and his staff are completely professional and do excellent work. From Bonnie at the front desk, who is just lovely, to Frannie the fabulous hygenist to Dr. Daw himself, I couldn't be more pleased. I go in twice a year for cleanings and I'm very happy with that arrangement. Last year Dr. Daw had to do some serious work replacing a crown. His work was just excellent! When I had some peridontal issues a while back Dr. Daw had me see a peridontist and he coordinated the care of my gums with him so that my gum issues were minimized. I had a very bad experience with another Napa dentist and so it was a relief to find Dr. Daw and his staff. read more

Love this place! My whole family goes here! All the staff is wonderful! Made the mistake of switching and after one visit, switched right back! This dental office does not do anything unnecessary or try to rip you off like other places! They work with you on appointment times! Bonnie is great! I admit that I was a little shocked by how young Dr. Daw appeared to be, but he's extremely knowledgable and professional. Six years, a replaced crown, a couple of fillings and a bunch of check-ups later, I have no complaints. My family went to Dr. Daw for a cleaning and to get work done. First off I was clearly pregnant when I went and they told me it was okay to get x-rays done, however it should have been postponed. My husband had to show the dentist where he had cavities b/c the dentist didn't see them. Then my husband went back for work on his teeth (for cavities) and we felt that we should get a second opinion after the work was done...come to find that he still had a cavity even though he had just gotten them done and the cavity was on the same tooth that dr. daw said he had fixed and charged us money for. John Daw is my husbands dentist and he is the best dentist in Napa! They focus on the clients health not about making extra money on things you don't even need! I would have to agree with the previous reviewer who said that Dr. Daw's receptionist is not very good. She is not very professional and was rude. She also is not very honest and I caught her changing her story several times. I could not even get in the door to meet the Dr. She said that the Dr. is booked out for cleanings for 6 months. Really? Guess the Dr must be doing really well to turn away 4 new patients away and be this unaccommodating. I have been going to Dr Daw for the past 7+ years. I think this is a case of a practice growing to big and losing touch with its patients. It was determined that I needed a deep cleaning at the end of 2014. 2 apps- 1 week apart was scheduled for 6 months later. (Originally the office wanted to schedule 4 appts rather than two but I insisted on two as I couldn't understand the logic in having to go the dentist four times, especially since I have had a full mouth deep cleaning in one sitting on several occasions in the past.) Fast forward to my 1st of two appointments.. I had to cancel because it turned out to be on the last day of my job which I did not know about 6 months earlier when I scheduled the appt! As a result I was rescheduled for 1/2 mouth deep cleaning on their next availability--- in November! When I asked if I could change my second deep cleaning appt to a regular cleaning and reschedule the second appt closer to the appt in October , I was told absolutely not .. I was told the office would not perform a regular cleaning without having performed the deep cleaning first. Is this not absurd? It you are looking for dental care without caring if you are treated like a valued customer and if you don't care if your requests are adamently refused, then this is the place for you. read more
