Cheap and convenient but sadly disappointing. I was so excited to finally find a Mexican restaurant, but there were very few positives experienced with my meal. I ordered chicken with beans, rice and salad & what passes for salsa over here. Everything was over cooked and barely warm. The tortilla chips were out of a bag, crushed into bits, and stale. Cambridge's no.1 burrito destination! Ok, it's Cambridge's only burrito destination, but Nanna Mexico does what it does very well and I've been tempted in a few times now to pick up a weighty burrito or some tasty quesadillas. It's not somewhere you'd linger - the seating space is limited (although if you do bag a table, you'll find you'll have a veyr nice view of Parkers Piece to look at) and it can get a bit crowded around the counter. And nor do they have the conveyor belt efficiency of the newer burrito joints that have sprung up in London. But if you're after a superior fast food option, then Nanna Mexico absolutely delivers. read more

NO JOKE... B-E-S-T BURRITOS OF ALL TIME! I dream about these burritos (figuratively). We did have a partial bad experience one visit. One of the employees that was working the register decided to help make the burrito, so they lathered their hands in hand sanitizer and went at it. My step dad looked past it, but there was no denying that his burrito shined like a new penny and tasted like sanitizer. Fortunately, the manager (although the cashier tried to deny it) apologized and remade his burrito. That's why I'm taking away 1 Star. BUT, nevertheless, best burritos ever. It's manna from heaven to get good Mexican food in somewhere like Cambridge, and it's Manna Mexico that can provide it. Wait... it's actually called Nanna Mexico... weird, I always thought it was Manna Mexico - even their website says that. Oh well. Recently expanded, Nanna Mexico is a Mexican-run burritos and tacos joint. Don't expect the world's best but do expect something that is a lot better than the scant local competition. Their Big-Ass Burritos live up to their name (truly big and fat) and with a pretty good selection of fillings too, including excellent fresh guac. With such large portions and such a lovely fresh-decored spot by the park, you shouldn't be surprised if your burrito hits £6 or more. Add a Negro Modelo and a side and you'll be into the tenner category. Yikes! It's worth it for a treat though, you'll definitely leave full. Let's hope their recent surge in business allows them to polish their choices. I think there is room for improvement, but many others attest that there isn't. They also have a taco/burrito van at the Science Park. This IS called Manna Mexico. Vanna Mexico would've been better I reckon. read more

Disappointing and overpriced. I lived in Tucson years before moving to Cambridge, and this "Mexican" is really pathetic. It's also overpriced for what it is. They have a van which circulates around the various Cambridge sites at lunchtime (e.g. in West Cambridge on Tuesdays at noon). In the van they advertise the "mega-big burrito" which is about the size of your fist... and £6. Guacamole is extra. You're better off hopping on the train to London or making it yourself if you really crave Mexican, because sadly, Cambridge has nothing better to offer in this genre. read more

As good as in Mexico I went to Nanna Mexico expecting yet another cheesy and Americanized version of Mexican food. I ordered a chicken burrito with guacamole, my friend had the order of 3 tacos with beef, pork, and steak, and we also order chips and salsas (red and extra spicy) on the side. The salsas started to bring my fears down. One of them was smoky and the other one rather spicy, but both were fresh and full of flavour. I then had a bite of my huge burrito and the chicken was juicy and smoky in flavour. Definetely a dry chile marination there. It was as good as the best burritos tried in Ciudad Juarez. My friend was equally surprised by his tacos and I tried the beef one. Made with surprisingly good soft corn tortilla and served with salsa, coriander and onions, and a slice of lime it really reminded me of a Mexican taqueria. I went back the next day and tried tried the torta de tinga. This just blew all my prejudices. I could have been anywhere in Mexico, but I was out in Parkers Piece having the most deliciuos torta. I went back and to talk to manager to ask if I could buy a dozen or so soft corn tortillas and no surprise he was Mexican. The guy seemed to have a permanent smile on his face and was evidently proud of what they do there. So, not just another burrito place here. Driving to Nanna Mexico is never a good idea because you may find yourself looking for a parking spot for two hours. I insisted that my husband and I eat there for lunch yesterday because I wanted cuisine from an Authentic Mexican chef. Not an English take on what the English perceive Mexican food to be with their own English twist. I'm over that none Mexican, 'Mexican'. The menu is small and simple and serves it's purpose. Choices are tacos, tortas, salad, burritos, quesadillas, nachos, beer, margaritas and none alcoholic drinks. I ordered the torta with a spicy chicken, I loaded it up with fresh guacamole, jalapenos, cheese and beans. The bread was very fresh and soft, just how a torta should be, lightly toasted would have been better but I take what I can get when it comes to having Mexican food in England. My husband had the chicken nachos. The nachos were generous as far as toppings went but I didn't like the movie theater cheese that comes out of a pump they put on it, that in itself is not Mexican. They should have prepared fresh queso that drips just as nice as movie theater nacho cheese does. The nacho chips themselves were also cheap movie theater chips, lacked taste and were boring. What happened to frying proper chips? As far as real Mexican nacho chips made from corn or flour tortillas? That was a put off hence why I am not giving them 5 stars. As for the Mexican food and it's authenticity, it is the best I have had since living in England for two years. I think I know good Mexican food having visited Mexico on several occasions, lived on the boarder of Mexico and Texas as well as living on the other side of their boarder that they share with California. The food was pricey. Beer and margaritas were £3.89. I ordered two orders of margaritas so I didn't have to get up again, I know, alchy, but barely drank two sips because their pre-made mix seriously lacked tequila and I am not wasting calories for nothing so I didn't drink both of my margaritas. Nanna Mexico if you are reading this review, please fix your movie theater style cheese to proper queso and put maybe a gallon more Jose Cuervo in with your margarita mix, also your nacho chips really need help! All in all we spent $50 US dollars, kind of broke our bank, would I go back? Yeah to order another torta but will take it to go due to the parking and the limited seating. read more

This is a welcome addition to the restaurants on regent street and they serve true Mexican dishes with fresh ingredients, nachos, burritos, quesadillas . Mannamexico is a great place for snack and lunch, they have funny names on their menu an example is big ass burritos, and it cracks me up big time. They serve mainly meat dishes; they are excused, as it is Mexican dish with great big American influence. With very few vegetarian options; I suppose you can remove the meat and create your own veggie option. We are fresh off the boat from California and craving some tasty Mexican food. I think they have it going on in this place: good presentation, large tortillas, different types of salsas, large portions. My husband and I were not impressed with the meat seasoning/ marinade - we both thought it tasted like the Carne Asada marinaded steak/chicken from Trader Joe's, for those who are familiar. Also, beware, they charge for "extras" like sour cream (30p), salsa(30p), guac (well, that's fair). I love Manna Mexico. It used to be a takeaway van serruptitiously located just off the castle st/huntingdon road junction. But now there is a proper shop! Its on Regent Street. There isnt much space to sit, but there is a breakfast bar style thing at the window. But the food is the real star here. By far and away the winner is their burritos, they are phenomenal and I could easily survive only on them from now on. Great prices, efficient service and top food. read more

As a San Diego native, I'm already biased against this place, but it not actually that bad. Burritos are solidly good (and huge), while the chicken nachos were disappointing. Keep in mind though, the three stars also accounts for the fact that this is the only readily available mexican food in Cambridge, and to get anything half-way decent you have to hop on the train to the city. read more

1st May 2010 - I enjoy Mexican food; this is NOT Mexican Food, best described as a sloppy mess. When ordering our meal at the take-a-way bar I placed the initial order, then a guy appeared and the woman ignored me to have a conversation with the guy and then could not remembered what I had asked for, so for service it's a real big zero. When the food arrived it was just a sloppy mess, cheap ingredients, minimal effort on presentation, as I said I really enjoy Mexican food, you would do better to buy a kit from Tesco, it would be far more enjoyable and actually be more authentic. Just about the only place in Cambridge where you can find Mexican food, Mannamexico stocks a range of delicous take-out options that are freshly made up in front of you. Although it's reasonably expensive, the portions are so filling that I think it's good value for money, and as it is just a little out of the centre (though not too far, about five minutes from John Lewis) it's never as busy as some fast food restaurants in town. read more

First time using Nanna Mexico and the last time too. Took 2hrs15 for them to deliver a stone cold burrito. When I asked the driver for her name she refused to tell me, the man who claimed to be in charged passed me over to another staff member to handle my complaint and take my details. The girl I finally dealt with was the only one who spoke with respect and understanding. Absolutely appalled. People who think this place has good food, let alone good Mexican food at that, are sadly deprived. I like to think I know good Mecican food, and even taking into account that this is a British attempt at it, it's still not good. Sure, you can get fairly full off of a quesidillia and a can of soda for £8 here, but for that price I'd expect much better quality. The place surprisingly had a regular flow of customers, which I hope for their own sake, were first timers, like me. Despite the convenience (and heck, even a loyalty card!) of this place, I won't be coming back. Eating a poorly made "Latin-vegetable" (which = yellow peppers and a few slivers of onion) quesidilla, I was definitely not impressed. The dark dining room, lack of any toilets available, sound of humming refridgerators, and tin plates on which my food fell apart onto would be worth it only if the food was something special, which it definitely is not. it is in regent st which is in the heart of the town. i heard that it serves very good mexican food. but unfortunately it did not impress me. it has good lunch time food packages which attracted me to go in and try on the food. yes it is true they sell traditional mexican food but it was no better or impressive than other places in cambridge. it is well priced and gives good food portions. i feel it was not amazing it is just average and average for price as well. read more

ughhh, terrible food!! I'm from California, and have been craving Mexican food ever since I moved to the U.K. a few months ago. Throw in being pregnant and having INSANE cravings where I'm just looking at photos of tacos and tamales on the internet all day long, I finally tried this place out (since they deliver). I assumed the food would not be traditional at all, but maybe like Chipotle, which is fine... Wow, I was completely wrong. Chipotle is a million times better!!!! I would murder for a Chipotle burrito! At Nanna Mexico, I ordered a chicken salad - the chicken looked and smelled very weird, like breaded in spices - I've never seen such kind of preparation for chicken before. It looked kind of like something a school cafeteria would serve. The lettuce in the salad was very sad, wilting iceberg lettuce. There wasn't much else in the salad - I expected some more vegetables or beans - although, that would not have saved the salad - I literally couldn't eat more than a bite of the salad, because the chicken was so gross looking/smelling (so my poor husband had to eat it). Instead, I ate my husband's bean burrito. He got it without rice, and when it came, we were surprised at the size - they advertise it as a "big-ass burrito" but it looked "small-ass" instead - definitely not the size of a Chipotle burrito! The beans were good, but again, the lettuce was really sad - I think Taco Bell uses fresher lettuce. We also had to pay extra for salsa verde and sour cream, which is irritating (shouldn't salsa be free?!). However, their guacamole is pretty good!!! The chips, like the reviewer below said, are not the best - definitely factory-made - but at least they were edible, and the guacamole was tasty. I would not order from here again, though. I guess if you have no idea what Mexican food should taste like, you'll potentially be satisfied - but if you've ever had decent Mexican, or even Americanized Mexican food - stay away!!! read more
