Loud but worth the atmosphere. Great energy. 3 different bartenders helped us. All professional, patient and kind. Noticed the 2nd floor was for dinning. Either way, it was delicious. The clotted cream mash was divine! The deduction of a star is because I had a 2-inch long rosemary stalk in my pie that was dismissed out of hand when I pointed it out. To someone else it could have been a choking hazard. The building is ridiculously historic. The service was pub service - at the bar and you're done and onto the next person. We had a chat with the friendly owners who are Italian immigrants and the wines (tangy with a bitter finish) and beers (hoppy) they recommended were just as they described them. We shared an aubergine bake (delicious) and chips (small and nothing special). Luckily they weren't t showing any matches and the garden wasn't packed.
