Can't recommend this restaurant I made reservations four days in advance for Tuesday, October 6 1 PM Teppanyaki for 7 to 8 people I confirmed my reservations October 5 around 7 PM in the evening. Presenting the next day the doors were locked. The lights were shut off arrived at 12:45 waited until 1:05 PM at 1 PM. I did try to contact the Restaurant again and was sent to an answering machine that was too full to take any messages at all! I stopped by here yesterday to order a couple of rolls to go. I got there when they opened and was the first one in the door. The service was wonderful and the hostess/waitress that took my order was very sweet. I was surprised that it took over 30 minutes for my to go order to be completed. The two rolls I ordered (the Volcano and the Kamikaze roll ) were good, but definitely not as good as I was expecting. It was probably just me, but I eat sushi all the time and I was a little disappointed. I will have to go back and try them one more time and make sure it wasn't just bad choices, but there was little to no flavor, in what I feel should have been a flavor bomb. There are not a lot of Asian food options in Porterville, Nanlangka is one of the few and it didn't disappoint. Few Friday nights ago, this place was packed with mostly indoor dining available. Good thing they are well ventilated with a strong AC and I was seated near the back exit door with some fresh air. The yellowtail is a must! This is not the typical roll, but the broiled method. I could have easily eaten more than 1. Word on the street is that this particular item is usually served on weekends and comes in fresh Friday morning. Another item I enjoyed was the soft shell crabs. They had the right amount of crisp and not too greasy. The calamari wasn't my favorite, a bit rubbery and overly fried, and I probably wouldn't choose that again. Shrimp fried rice wasn't bad either, but I was neither here nor there about it, pretty standard. A couple of rolls were ordered, but were never brought out, and eventually the rolls were packed in to-go containers after trying to cancel since the restaurant has closed and the crowd literally dwindled to less than 10. The service is a bit frazzled as there seems to be miscommunication between waitresses and chefs. A couple of different waitresses came to take the order, but aren't tables divided among all the wait staff? Also, why were some items disregarded from the order, but others were brought out with quickness? Restrooms were clean, lots of parking available. Note this review is for take-out only. Ordered the lunch special, $14.99 in March 2025, for choice of about 5 main dishes, with plain rice, salad or miso soup, and 4 pieces of California roll. Soup and rice were okay. California roll was a concern because it wasn't cool, and it has cream cheese in it, so there's safety issues there. The ginger beef I got was so-so. It was a very small portion and had some connective tissue..not sure what that's called, but it should always be cut away. The cashier who got my order was very pleasant. I know food prices are absurd now, and considering that most burger joints in Porterville charge more than $15 for less, I can't complain too much. I * might* try the sushi, but don't feel enthusiastic about what the results will be. So if you're sick of fast-food burgers, fries and beverage for almost $20, this is about on par, not a spectacular meal, but at least it's something different than greasy burgers. read more

Stopped here for dinner after visiting the Sequoia National Forest. Service was attentive and friendly. The place was really clean. I liked the inviting ambiance. Excellent quality and flavor. Here's where it gets questionable. I was excited to order the seafood Udon. There was a picture and description on the menu. It was supposed to have shrimp crab fish cake and something else. The complain or question it like I should have. this was our first time visiting this restaurant and it was a good experience overall.
