3.5 stars Nandos is tasty, no doubt. The sauces are good, chicken is seasoned just right, and there are a wide selection of sides to choose from to accompany your chicken. The quality of food, however, is what you find at a typical mall food court. Compared to the chicken, the sides are at a lower tier. The selection is more Nando's themed, which is nice, consisting of garlic bread, rice, corn on the cob, and others, but the food itself tastes too simple, and not in accordance with the rest of the Nando's menu. For example, the garlic bread is wayy too buttered down, and doesn't really have any seasoning flavor to it. The rice is quite dry without adding some extra sauce to it, and the corn on the cob just tastes like regular steamed corn. The chicken also lacks in that it isn't too consistent. The wings and thighs are super dry, compared to the chicken breast which they do quite juicy. Thighs especially are really easy to make juicy, and Nando's just somehow misses the mark with their dry and hard result. Overall, the place has a simple menu and has tasty options for most that make it a good option to go casually. read more

I'll be the first to admit, I've been to various Nando's locations and always thought the food was overhyped. I was told by some family to come to this location. I was in town for a special event and thought I would give it a chance. I walked in skeptical, and left with a completely changed opinion. My party and I had the most enjoyable experience at this location. Jaren, a manager at this location, greeted us as soon as we walked in a provided suggestions for the best menu items. I ended up going with the quarter chicken leg with garlic bread and red skin mashed potatoes. Now, I've had these items at other locations, but the food was just 10x more delicious at this location for some reason. The items came out hot and fresh. The garlic bread was buttery but not over powering. The manager checked in with us to make sure we enjoyed our choices. I really appreciated his attention, enthusiasm, and patience with us. My party also had an appetizer of hummus, variations of my order (half chicken, different sides), one of the chicken sandwiches, and the naughty natas, carrot cake, and brownies for dessert. This location did an exceptional job of making the food HOT. Like both in temperature and flavor. As you might or might not know, sometimes I like to torture my tastebuds a little just to keep them in shape. That's why I get the hot chicken and either the macho peas (which are really good) or the rice with it. This time I got the new chicken skewers (dark meat), with a side of rice and an appetizer of the pita with hummus. You all know how I like the pita, it is good here. After sampling some Nando's at a yelp event recently, I was left craving some of that goooood chicken! The restaurant in Springfield mall is so lively, both in music and in color! Really nice place for lunch. I loved the options for drinks and desserts displayed once you walk in- including the dole whip machine. Since it was out first time here, we were only slightly confused by the way the ordering system works here. We were seated and waiting a while so one of us popped up to order in the register line. My boyfriend and I ordered a platter of 24 wings that came with two sides. We got half hot and half lemon herb. I used all of the sauces to sample but mostly kept coming back to the garlic peri-peri on the hot wing and the lemon peri-peri sauce on the lemon herb wings!! So yummy and full of flavor. Kicks the wings up a notch!! The wings are cooked perfectly with crispy skin and not over cooked on the inside leaving you with a juicy and satisfying chicken wing bite. I enjoyed the difference I tasted here compared to a typical wing place, or a typical Peruvian roast chicken. I see how Nando's stands out particularly in flavor profile. I was looking forward to the corn which they did not have, not sure if that's seasonal, but the garlic bread was phenomenal. I have been to many Nandos and was excited to learn of one in Springfield town center ! Of course each nandos has its own beautiful decorations inside which makes the environment fun for dining. I ordered a medium (flavored) chicken sandwich with chips (fries). They have changed some of the menu items over the years adding things I've never seen before but I'm sure they are all really good ! I liked my sandwich but I felt it was smaller than it has been over the years. It also was more mild then medium but it was still pretty good. Overall the food was good but nothing special. No offense to Coco Rico, but Peruvian chicken places are a dime a dozen in our area. While there are a few stand-outs, most are really just average...and some are about as Peruvian as Boston Market! Show me another Portuguese/African chicken spot other than Nando's, then maybe you can make a valid comparison. Sorry for the negative tone, but I think people really need to write informed reviews and not play favorites or go with the trend. Know what you are about to eat, and judge it fairly according to taste, presentation and service. Came here with the family and had a wonderful lunch. Located inside Springfield Town Center. Plenty of parking is available. Upon entering, a host or hostess asks you if you are dinning in or ordering To Go. If you are dinning in, they will give you a number card and point you to a table. You then place your order and tell the cashier what your table number is. They bring your food to the table. Employees were all very sweet, patient, and helpful. They checked on us You help yourself to drinks, silverware, napkins, etc. They have a nice selection of sauces in bottles that you can add to your chicken for added flavor. They are all very good. Nando's menu has a nice variety of options, the chicken is where it's obviously at. It was juicy within and nicely grilled. There are a bunch of different sides to choose from. My favorite sides here so far would have to be their Garlic Bread, Portuguese Rice, and Macho Peas. They have a dessert menu as well. I love the decor of this place. Their set up: They bring you to your table, when you're ready you go up and order at the counter, and then they bring the food to you. You have the option of getting a 1/4, 1/2, or a whole chicken of which you can customize the seasoning. The chicken is already flavorful so I usually stick with the mild. The order comes with one or two sides consisting of mashed peas (FAVE!), French fries, seasoned rice, etc. To the side there is a soda fountain and a sauce bar. My favorite is the garlic and spicy, super flavorful! They also serve sandwiches, salads, desserts, and other food options. In addition they have beer and wine. The chicken is pretty much same across the board at all of their franchise locations. But truly what makes this place great is their wide range of sauces. Their sauces are comparable to addictive crack. You can take their mind blowing sauces and you can pour it all over your chicken. I get each sauce and dip my chicken in each sauce. This makes each bite unique with a burst of different flavors. I cannot rave enough about their sauce options. If you are debating about trying this place, it's worth it for their sauces. This is especially true if you are a sauce addict like myself and you dump sauce on your food like it is your religious obligation. Another noteworthy point about their sauces is that they do not limit your use of their sauce options. They leave jars upon jars of sauces out for your pouring pleasure. Beyond their sauces, you should order their sangrias! It's a refreshing drink to start and end your meal with. Nando's Peri-Peri has proven a most welcome addition to the reimagined Springfield Town Center. The focus of the restaurant is chicken, prepared in a number of ways with varieties of its signature Peri-Peri sauce. Chicken can be ordered in combinations ranging from a 1/4 Chicken Leg & Thigh (my favorite) to wings to sandwiches and wraps. I will include two sides, with a Mixed Leaf salad and Peri Chips (fries) my favorites. My wife very much likes the Macho Peas (pea mash with whole peas, parsley, mint and chilli) side dish. I must also add that I like the Spicy Mixed Olives appetizer. I order the olives to go, and enjoy them later. A hostess will show you to a table, but patrons must go the the counter to order. Waitstaff then will bring your food. The restaurant's ambiance projects a Brazilian vibe. I understand its origin is in South Africa and it is a world-wide operation, particularly popular in the UK. I'm pleased we have such an international operation right here locally! European style portion sizes are the norm, which I welcome. First of all let me say this, it's my first time going to Alexandria in VA. And I've always had this craving to try Nando's. I visited Nando's PERi-PERi with my brothers and my cousin and her friend. The restaurant itself is beautiful, I loved their decorations and settings. The staffs were great and welcoming. Specially this lady she was patient even tho my card was bugging because it's a Canadian branch. Any how, the music, patio, to the bathroom is gorgeous. I LOVED their meals & so did my family and friends. We had the big family combo for 4-5 people. This is the best South African food I've had. Everything was authentic, tasty, and delicious. I loved their rice, had to get a second plate of it. The chickens were amazing we had the extreme spicy level which wasn't that bad considering we're south Asians. My cousin and I also took a side dish which was their salad. It tasted better than most restaurants. Full of flavor. Nando's specializes in South African cuisine that is heavily influenced by the Portugese. The chicken was delicious, very moist and tasty. A liitle spicy for my particular taste but good and great if you like a little bit of kick to your meal. There are many Nanco's throughout the DMV, this is in Springfield Town Center (STC). The decor is funky and very African influenced... I originally thought Morroccan but was set straight by the manager. The chicken is presented with cole slaw and fries, both were fabulous, the cole slaw surprisingly so. Clean with a friendly staff, definitely recommend giving Nando's a try. read more

Today was my first visit to this location, and I dined in for lunch. I ordered the boneless chicken breast with medium sauce and one side (mashed potatoes). Corn on the cob is still a seasonal side that's not yet available. The service was all right, from the host/greeter to the cashier to the food runner. The cashier didn't smile or seem very interested in helping out. Why do people work in such a fun environment and possess such a blah attitude toward customer service? The music was upbeat---Latin dance music---the decor was super cool, the colors were vibrant and engaging, and the energy level of diners was high. I'd have been so lucky to work at a place like this as a teenager. This location is much smaller than others I've visited, but the food quality is the same as always. The portion sizes run far smaller than what I'd expect for what I paid, but I love their food so I keep coming back like Pavlov's dog; I've been conditioned. Compared to other nando's I go to, this place really lacks in service. The food is fine. But tables are left uncleared, nobody was at the door to greet us (It says please wait to be greeted and seated) for a bit because the host was busy talking to her friends somewhere near the middle to back of the floor of the restaurant. Bad first impression already--at least be near the door. However, she was friendly and nice. We walked in and saw that at least half the unoccupied tables still had plateware on them. Strange thing about this place is that they don't have the sauces out past a certain time. We came in around 9:20pm and they close at 10. I know it's an arbitrary and discretionary call to determine when exactly to start closing procedures, but there were no sauces at the sauce station. We asked for two sauces after we ordered our food, and the server just said "I can bring them out in little cups for you." Not sure what kind of closing procedures they have for the sauces but it can't warrant taking them off the floor 40+ minutes early. I saw her even take two sauces away from a table that was still seated and finishing up their meal. Half the reason I come here is for the sauces. Kitchen staff seems to be hard working, but otherwise I get the impression that this place has lazily complicit employees that try to do the bare minimum. However, to Nando's PR team's credit, they do check their reviews and customer complaints, and I was offered a meal on them after submitting comments online. I ordered the chicken breast pita wrap by accident. Didn't read the menu closely enough when I placed my mobile order. But here's my accidental review of this item - please mix up the contents of the wrap. The entire front half of the wrap was all the chicken. Then the entire second half of the wrap was all dry lettuce. I was just eating plain lettuce and dry pita bread for half my meal because I didn't know all the chicken was frontloaded. This wrap would be so much better if it was more balanced out. Prob wouldn't get it again. read more

Ok so I love Nando Peri Peri....but I had an ok experience. Wasn't horrible. However, I wanted the corn on the cob and they said it's not in season. Of course I said something but I was nice about it. Don't get anything resolved being rude. Then I asked if I can get the veggies without the balsamic and they told me know. I'm pretty sure they can but he felt like saying no. Anyways on to the good stuff...food! I always get the boneless chicken breast and always alternating the sauce, lemon herb, and mango (something). Their garlic bread is super good. So i don't know. Seem like they didn't want to work with their customers. But it's ok, again this is not a huge big deal. My biggest issue with Nandos is their lack of decent sides and, secondly, I think its overpriced for what you're getting. Changed my original rating. Previous: I wanted something healthy after a doctors appointment and Im so glad Nandos was right across the street. They'd just opened for the day so I was probably 1 of 2 customers in the place and practically had all the sauces to myself! We found this gem a little over a year ago and were stoked to find out there was one in Springfield so we didn't have to travel to old town or the city to get our South African chicken fix!! This place is great, we love their chicken, sides and service. The employees are always nice and friendly! This is an excellent spot to eat some tender, juicy, and flavorful chicken. Nando's is known for delicious chicken, which go well with a variety of hot sauces. The sauces range from mild to supremely spicy, but no matter the spice level, they all have tremendous flavor. There are a number of sides to choose from. The macho peas are one of the tastiest sides Nando's has to offer with its minty flavor. The fries are also a good choice as it is crispy and flavorful. The peri-peri mayo is 75 cents extra, but it is delicious and worth the purchase if you want to add more flavor to your fries. Overall, the food is consistent with many options to choose from. Nando's was a welcome surprise for dinner before a movie. This place has really cool décor, and the food was great. I tried several sauces, and while there weren't that many differences between one heat level and the next, jumping up two levels made a difference. If you're concerned, hot isn't that hot (at least for me). I also had the "premium" cucumber salad for one of the sides, and it was really good. I didn't feel like bone-in chicken, so I went with the chicken breasts -- they have skin on, so that was awesome. They were very tender and had good taste, although I'm not sure I could taste the results of the "overnight marinade." That's OK, that's why you get sauce on the side. The one thing I didn't care for was the entrance and ordering system. I went in to the small front area, they handed me one of the metal number signs (not sure what it's for, other than signifying that the table is taken) but no menu, and there was no explanation of what else to do and no signs that I noticed that said "order here". They called out the table number rather than bringing over the food, which made it further confusing. If the hostess had said "place your order here then go to your table and they'll call your number," it would have been a lot easier. But other than this glitch, the food was really good, the prices were decent, and I'll definitely be back. It's definitely different than Peruvian chicken (but equally good), and I'm a fan. read more

We had to wait in line to get our drinks because people were playing w/ the drink machine because it's 1 of those endless flavor combination ones. My friends' food came out way before mine. They ordered the sandwiches and I had the chicken livers w/ the fino side of squash & corn. The livers were cooked to perfection when they arrived maybe 5-10mins after my friends' food. We stayed for hours catching up, until they closed. We left and kept chatting outside in front of the restaurant, then suddenly my friend tip toes closer to the window of Nando's and we're like WTF is this chic doin, looking like Inspector Gadget and what not. That's when she says the unthinkable "it's a rat in there" then lo and behold, we see Mickey Mouse, chile! On the floor right near the window chillin like a villain pacing around. So we try to get what appears to be the manager's attention, he sees me waving him down, then I point to the floor in my made up sign language, and he turns his head away from me and ignores me. He even appears to tell the other workers to pay us no mind. Oh okay! Well fine, keep your rat infestation if you want to. So a worker comes out the door and I say "we were trying to be nice and tell y'all u have a rat". I have always been a fan of Nando's. I have tried most of their outlet in DC metro area. Loved the peri-peri chicken. At this location, we decided to try other stuff on the menu and we were not disappointed. Loved the chicken liver.. Right level of spice..just loved it ... 4.9/5 Wings were also great ... 4.8/5 Sangria- 4.8/5 There host were professional and courteous.
