I first had Nandos in DC while in grad school a decade ago and have been hooked ever since. I think my first bite really captured all things that I loved, a good sauce, and a good hint of spice. I've been fantasizing about it for years, as there is none in California. Anyway, decided to order delivery via Uber eats from an O'Hare Hotel while on a layover. Upon opening my delivery, I have to admit, I was both surprised and disappointed. Surprised because I didn't order fries or perhaps I didn't know that fries came with the bowl or skewer that I did order, but they were good and probably would've been better warmer if I had dined in. The disappointment, though, came from my readiness to devour what looked and smelled delicious, but found absolutely no utensils provided. Quite annoying. After a trip to the lobby, I returned and dug in. The chicken bowl was interesting. Everything tasted good separately, but I don't think that the combination of all things together is for me and that's ok. It felt very eclectic, but not in a good way. Perhaps the combination of the different flavors and textures just wasn't for me. Individually, though, everything tasted yummy, and it's just the bowl that isn't for me. The skewer was probably what I should've just stuck with. But you live and you learn. I wish the skewer were more saucy. With some other sauces ordered on the side, the medium is probably my favorite so that's good to know. In both plates, the chicken thigh was juicy and tender. I guess I'm just not a fan of ordering from a QR code at a sit down restaurant. Ordered the chicken livers, grilled corn, sweet potatoes and had a red sangria. Sangria was phenomenal!!!! Sweet potatoes were 7/10 with yummy feta, hot honey and pepitas. The livers were so salty I could barely eat them. And the anxiously awaited corn? Grilled, and dry.... We didn't feel like cooking dinner tonight, so we used tonight to try Nando's. It was a perfect late afternoon. The mall wasn't crowded, and the weather was great. We sat inside since it was so hot. On a side note, if you park in the garage, the escalator takes you right up to the restaurant. The cashier was super friendly. I ordered the chicken sandwich and fries. I also ordered the honey lavender lemonade. We sat at lucky table 9 by the window. The food came out quickly. The fries were hot and fresh. The sandwich was filling and had a nice, sweet taste. I've actually been wanting to try Nando's and didn't realize there was a location in Oak Park. Well I am glad I finally got a chance to try and can definitely say I will be back! Everything ordered was really delicious. The chicken was as good as the many reviews I have read and the recommendation from a few friends. Very flavorful and tender. The garlic sticks were very very garlicky...just the way I like it. Everything was seasoned so well. I ordered the mango & lime seasoned for my chicken bowl. I can't say enough how well it was prepared. Next time, I think I will go up a spice level. The Halloumi (goat's and/or sheep's milk cheese) Sticks was a different taste, but good. I'm not a big cheese stick person, but I think I will try these again. We ordered at the table on the app by scanning the code and the food came out quick and hot. It was very easy versus standing in line and ordering. Serena was the server and very attentive. She even explained several things to us and was very patient with all the questions. The restaurant was clean with moderate noise level. I love the station in the corner where you can wash your hands and another section that houses the many sauces with small containers that you can fill to go. Very convenient. Post COVID the service in most all fast casual restaurants in Chicago has dropped to about a D+. I don't want to hold that against Nando's since it's almost impossible for them to control. What was disappointing with my latest visit was that they were out of sweet potatoes which is in their control. Their chicken is some of the best around and I just love experimenting with all of their different sauces. My sister friend and I visited the restaurant. The ambiance of the location has always been on par. The manager checked on the patrons within his location and provided a positive special interaction. Nando's is great. Someone welcomed us in and asked if we were going to dine-in or takeout. We dined in so we were designated a table. They had a QR code menu - unfortunately, I didn't have much reception inside the restaurant to view the menu without providing my email for connecting to their wifi. They do have a menu for display in the window but I wished they had at least one on display inside! I ordered the Chicken Caesar Wrap with Peri-Peri Chips on the side. Both were excellent. I've previously ordered the family-style platter for delivery, and that was very good. My entire family enjoyed it. I also really liked the turmeric cauliflower. I was pleasantly surprised while walking in Chicago that Nando's was finally an option. This place is perfect if you are following a keto lifestyle. I love the Nandos chain but this location has repeatedly disappointed us. Their chicken isn't fried but is juicy and flavorful. Very different sides from what you can get most places.  Low rating is because of this location in particular, which has repeatedly disappointed us.  Mango lime and the hot sauces are our favorite. Sometimes we get the bowls to mix it up but the boneless chicken is a little dry. Very interesting sides like minty mashed peas. Others are weirded out by it but i like it. Mashed potatoes are really good. Haloumi cheese is good. We usually get the marinated olives. Bone in chicken is obviously their star though. Their fries are seasoned well and crispy. 3 times from the last 4 we have ordered delivery through doordash and they have forgotten meals, sometimes multiple items. This has never happened to us with any other restaurant. I've talked to the driver and the restaurant and the restaurant a couple times and the restaurant admits they forgot to add it but to do the refund through doordash. That just does not make up for it. We love their food and want to share with family and friends and when we sit down and someone or multiple people are missing their meals it sucks. Location is convenient for us but we will not be back to this one. Have had some very good experiences with the Oak Brook location. read more

I'm actually quite surprised this place wasn't busier. The food is excellent - flavorful, perfectly cooked, and plenty of options even though they serve only chicken for meat. The parking lot behind was free too. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the staff was super friendly with us. The only reason for a 4-star review is the staff infighting. While I'm absolutely sure the staff would be a blast to hang out with, they were anything but professional. We'll still go back because the food is great and the sauces are amazing. As you walked in the staff was so nice and welcoming. The food was amazing!! The chicken we got medium flavor but we also pulled two of the bottles that were by the drink area. The two flavors for sauce in Hot and Lemon Herb were truly so flavorful. Hot had a little kick to it. The lemon had the right amount of citrus. The chicken was perfectly cooked and so juicy with a ton of flavor. I had not had a chicken this juicy in a while. Highly recommend! Coming from Oklahoma, this was my first meal when I settled into Oak Park. Odd choice maybe, but I've heard a lot of hype from our friends across the pond about how great the chicken is here. Plus, with the COVID-19 outbreak, it was incredibly easy to order online and pick-up in-store. So, let me tell you, this grilled chicken is fantastic. I opted for the 2 1/4 legs for about ~$14 at a mild spice level and it was perfect for me. It was tender, juicy, and delicious. The peri-peri seasoning is a unique Portuguese spice that packs a punch of flavor, maybe something closest to a jerk seasoning. Absolutely delicious! The downside of curbside ordering the Naughty Natas was that the pastry was lacking the crisp you'd expect from a puff pastry like that due to the condensation from the hot pastry and other hot items in the bag, but it was still amazingly delicious. I'm definitely coming back to try those fresh. The biggest let-down were the fries. I think our order was a bit stale, maybe an older batch because texture-wise, it was lacking. Seasoning was great, but it definitely tasted like an old batch of fries. Looking forward to coming back to get some more chicken, naughty natas, and trying a new side! read more

So this location is trash. I ordered this past Sunday (5 days ago), emailed oakpark@nandosperperi.com twice, contacted the US support on the contact us link, and still haven't received a response nor refund. Never again. Unfortunately, I was completely dissatisfied with the meal that I received. I ordered a 1/2 chicken meal w/ 2 sides, a chicken pita meal with two sides and carrot cake. The 1/2 chicken was two leg quarters, missing the breast/wing. The corn was also missing. The chicken pita was incorrectly made with a tortilla wrap; the tortilla was so dry that is was inedible. So I dumped the contents out to eat it as a salad, and it was filled with 50% greens, 35% halloumi cheese and 15% chicken. The corn was also missing. My husband attempted to eat the cake, but he said that it was so dry and the frosting was dried up to the consistency of fondant. I called at 6:55pm ahead of my online order because Yelp reported special hours of closed. The person who received the call said that due to short staffing, you were closed to dine-in but were taking carry-out orders until 8pm. I placed it at 7:09pm, and I didn't expect this quality of food. Regarding the receipt, the pictures clearly reflect that the corn wasn't checked off for a complete order. I placed an online order for the chicken skewers. Once my boyfriend picked it up and brought it home I checked the food and my food is BURNT! And super dried out! I just tried to call and inform them but the employee who answered the phone hung up the first time. I called back and explained to him what happened and he completely ignored me. Didn't hear anything I was saying. He was too involved in another conversation with other employees (I could hear them extremely loud in the background) so I repeated myself again and he kept saying "huh" and not trying to listen to my concern. Then I asked him are you even listening and then the phone went silent and eventually hung up. This is the worst customer service I've ever experienced. It's right next to my gym so I stopped in today and I'm so happy with the experience! This is a chicken arugula hummus bowl minus the chicken- you can add grilled portobello! The hummus is wonderful and the rice super flavorful! Free refills from the magical zillion flavor soda machine, and they carry Diet Coke, phew. Loads of beautiful salad dressings and spicy sauces at the sauce bar. Order at the counter then grab a soda and your seat. There were so many staff members working the grill and dining room that my meal came out in minutes. Presentation is lovely in blue stone wear bowls. For more than 5 years now, I've lived within a block of this Nando's PERi-PERi, yet last night was only my 2nd time eating here, and I've honestly no idea why. It's a chain based out of South Africa that serves a variety of chicken dishes with Portuguese influences. We rolled in for dinner on 1/8/19 with a good idea of what to order.....since we got the exact same thing 2 weeks ago at their location inside Oak Brook Mall. The inside looks similar to what we'd seen before, yet the light fixtures had their own unique flair to them. Thanks to a scratch off card from a Yelp event, we had a buy-one-get-one-free entrée to use. The staff had some issues running the BOGO through the system, as I awkwardly stood there at the counter for 5-6 minutes. It was all good though, since I basically got to eat fo' free. I requested that my chicken sandwich with two sides ($12) get doused in their extra hot sauce, and it didn't disappoint. The chicken was a solid inch thick and came with tomato + arugula on a toasted bun. The "macho peas" are an interesting choice if you feel like changing it up. My girl Nichole C ordered the 1/2 chicken with redskin mashed potatoes ($13.50). Portion size was ample and the meat juicy. We also got a small dish of mixed olives ($4.50) as a little appetizer, those were great. The napkins have some pretty amusing phrases on them! Nando's "PERi chips" are not just normal potato sticks, oh no no no. They're fries dusted with spices and served with an addictive "Perinaise" (essentially mayo-ketchup) which is absolutely worth the $1 upcharge. Soft drinks are $2.50 and they've got a Coke Freestyle machine, plus tea dispensers. Bread = 4.5 Circuses = 4.5 As for the sauce selection, holy geez. You've got lemon & herb, mango & lime, garlic -- which packs WAY more of a punch than you'd expect, medium, hot, extra hot, and the newly-released Vusa which is a Satanic secretion that should only be used in small doses. * TL;DR * The vibes at this place are great, with music that matches the decor. We've enjoyed every chicken item that's come off the grill and the sides are just as tasty. The huge variety of PERi-PERi sauces means that no two meals are alike (unless you want them to be) and will appease fans of both flavor and heat. I'd definitely recommend Nando's for anyone looking to inject a little bit of spice into their lives, and I for one am stoked to return in the future! read more

We finally made it to a Nando's Peri-Peri. I had heard really great things about this restaurant chain. Thankfully, it lived up to the hype. This restaurant is located on Lake street in Oak Park along with a ton of other restaurants. There is nothing about the outside of this location that makes it stand out from the competition, but, if you know that it is here, it is worth the trip. There is plenty of room here and it is ecclecticaly decorated. The seating area is very comfortable with plenty of space between you and nearby tables. Service is friendly and very patient with newcomers and this location was very clean. The big plus is the food, it is very tasty and unique. I was expecting their menu to be a little more varied, but they do chicken and do it really well. You can have your chicken as hot and spicy as you want, or get it Plain...ish and add your own heat. We ordered the Friends, Giving platter which consists of a whole chicken, mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts for $29.99. Yes, I know a little pricey, but, for every platter sold, they pay it forward to feed someone in need with the charity organization "Inspiration Corporation". W also ordered the Heirloom Tomatoe, Halloumi and Chicken salad for $10.95. I thought the Peri-Peri chicken was delicious. It is marinated for 24 hours, then flame grilled and basted. The salad was a welcome surprise, all of the ingredients combined to make a unique and flavorful dish. We were so glad that we finally stopped in and will definitely be back! read more

Went to lunch with mom to try Nando's. Not bad! Mom ordered the chicken pita wrap and fries with one of the sauces. I ordered the two piece of chicken meal with the fries - chicken was fresh, quite tasty and well cooked. A little pricey, with tax and tip it was $19 plus. The place was well maintained, clean and very colorful. They gave us water and there were plenty of sauces on one of the counters that can be tried. It was however very frustrating that initially they told us we had to order via QR code. It was very finicky and we couldn't use it as the website was not working well and it wouldn't allow us to place a card to pay. We were able to order with the waitress inside but they should just simply have someone take your order - particularly since they expect a tip. We almost left it was so frustrating to order. I was visiting from out of town with friends. Hands down the best customer service any of us has ever had from any food establishment - fast casual or 5 star! Dena was so kind, attentive and went above and beyond to make our experience memorable. Not only was Dena exceptionally helpful, but the food was delicious! The chicken breast was grilled to perfection, the chips (fries) were crispy, and I appreciated that Dena let us try all the sauce options. The mango & lime sauce had just enough heat and packed a ton of flavor! Not to mention their blood orange mango lemonade was to die for! Highly recommend!
