I wanted jerk wings which they didn't have that day BUMMER... I settled on rib tips & a 1/2 dark chicken order. It only took about 10mins to prepare my food which was cool. The food was very flavorful & not bland. I didn't try their sauce, but I also didn't need it. The rice & beans were good. & the plantains were tasty. I didn't eat my cabbage. Only thing I didn't like was my tips didn't heat up well. The chicken & rice were fine reheated. The cashier & cook (possibly the owner) were nice and friendly. The cook gave me a sample of the tips & thanked me for coming in. So I liked that and that tipped their 3.5 stars to 4. I will definitely be going back to try other things. Delicious!!!!!!!! I was looking to try something new the other night, and this proved to be a fantastic choice. I read that this place is SLOW........and they were. However, I did place my order and return later for pick up (had to wait a bit longer still). However, all this waiting was WORTH it. Loved the jerk wings, plantains, rice and beans, and meat patties. Finally stopped by this place and so glad I did! They were out of a few things but I got the curry goat and it was DELICIOUS! The goat was tender and well seasoned. This is a run in order, wait a bit and leave with your food kinda place. This is not a place to sit and eat, and it is HOT inside, sometimes I will wait outside the door for everything to be put together. Everything is made there at the location, and I will admit does vary depending on who is cooking. I found out my favorite cook (Greg?) doesn't work Sundays, so you won't see me there on a Sunday. BTW, cabbage is cut to fine and tends to be a bit to greasy for my liking when he isn't there. The ox tails also tend to be over cooked on that day. My mother and I are sticklers when it comes to our cuisine and it's always such a let down when people claim they know what they are doing. Jamaica Grill has got the flavors down! They were out of oxtail (at JA places always just ask what they've got because more often than not, they are out of some of main dishes. Especially if later in the day) so my mother opted for the curry goat and I got jerk wings. Both amazing in terms of flavor. Jerk wings were perfectly spicy and the curry goat tasted just like my moms. Rice and peas were good, although they said they don't use coconut milk in them unless they are catering an event (understandable). Side Cabbage fantastic. And of course, I had to have my hard dough bread. The exterior/interior was nothing special and couple use some sprucing up and general maintenance, but don't let it deter you from Jamaican food thats authentic and takes you right back home to the island. read more

What a great place! We were looking for Jamaican wings and found this small, family-owned place right in Oak Park. I was ordering a bunch of separate dinners and they suggested to just get the family dinner, because it was a better deal. We got a whole chicken, plantains, cabbage and carrots, sauces, and an extra side of rice and beans for $21. It was really great homemade food! How can cabbage and carrots taste this good? I ordered the food, then went and did errands. When I came back, they took another 10 minutes or so, probably because the plantains were made right then so they wouldn't be cold or soggy. Have tried on two occasions to get food from this place but they never have any. First time I drove 20 minutes to place a take out order and they had no curry goat, no oxtails, no jerk catfish, no curry chicken, and no curry shrimp. This was on a Friday around 3:00PM. Decided to give them a break and called in the next week around Noon and they only had one portion of curry goat but no shrimp, no catfish, and no oxtails. If you cannot have a full menu at all times why open your doors??? It is unreal to have to hope a restaurant have the things they so proudly promote on their menu. The jerk chicken is great. They give large portions and the rice tastes delicious with their curry sauce. Plaintains are hit or miss - sometimes they have them, sometimes they don't. This Jamaican restaurant serves the most authentic jerk chicken wings I've ever tasted outside of those in Montego Bay. After sampling hordes of others, including those on other islands in the Caribbean, I thought I'd have to go to Jamaica just to get delicious wings. These, however, were almost perfect. The catfish was moist (not wet like thawed frozen fish) and so very delicious, or as my wife said, "this IS deliciousness!" I will usually get the jerk chicken dinner with all white meat. It comes with steamed cabbage, sweet plantains and rice/beans with jerk sauce on the side. After an annoying customer complained numerous times, they have finally added caramel cake to the dessert menu. I love caramel cake. Prices are extremely reasonable. I really had to join Yelp to talk about this place. It was very good the first few times we went. We were getting the chicken, catfish, and rib tips each time (it was that good!)with the sauce. But lately it's been horrible. From taking 45min to an hour(when they tell you less time) to never having enough meat available! They also never have menus and some sites say they deliver and they really don't. The customer service is mediocre, the younger is extremely nice, and a hard worker. But one guys rushes you and charges regular price for less portions, ridic!! And the last time he served me I got literally watered down jerk sauce, I was pissed. This local hole in the wall serves REALLY GOOD jerk chicken for take away. You can't go wrong with the jerk! I've ordered their oxtails a few times as well. The oxtails are inconsistent. Wish i can give them no stars. They have horrible customer service. When I called to follow up on my order which had already been over 2 hrs a man started yelling at me. He told me he didn't know where the delivery guy was at. I asked why he didn't give me a update, and he said he didn't know what the delivery guy was doing. After I got off the phone with this guy he called back letting me know that my order was ready for pick up. I told him I just got off the phone with him and my order was supposed to be delivered.
