With American locations limited to DC metro and Chicago, it is understandable that we never made it to a Nando's stateside. I had an opportunity to visit Nando's a couple of time while visiting the area. The location is convenient. The restaurant and dining area appeared clean. I must say that I enjoyed the food. It was hearty and healthy. The chicken wings was cooked to perfection. I ordered the grains n' greens and the saucy spinach not knowing what to expect and was pleasantly surprised that it was pretty good. It's not something that I would have normally tried but I am expanding my taste buds. I also ordered a side of grilled halloumi cheese which was really good as well. Overall, I enjoyed the dining experience more so the food. If someone is looking for some good peri peri chicken, I would recommend that you give them a try. I will be back again. read more

I give this place a 5/5, easy. I have never been to any of their locations before, I am so pleased to learn it's a chain. I went in to the restaurant, and the staff welcomed me right away, explaining how they work (order at the counter, get your drinks, they bring the food out to your table). When I ordered at the counter, the employee was very friendly, and we chatted about how spicy each of the fallacies are, he really helped me decide which would be perfect for me. I like some spice, but this place seemed REALLY spicy, so I was a bit hesitant. I tried the mild Mango/lime chicken breast, and OMG, SO tasty! It came with 2 sides, and I ordered the garlic bread (which they grill, so it's absolutely perfect) and the "chips" with their special spicy salt, SO TASTY!! I didn't have much for lunch, so I was starving, but the portions were big and filling. But I'm an American, so I kept going! When it came time for dessert, you can order it from your table, no need to get up. The caramel brownie with vanilla gelato was so tasty! And they do have excellent wines as well!! read more

Surprisingly, Nando's is actually quite good for vegans. I've been on this ridiculous diet for nearly a month now but never have I been so impressed by a special diets menu. This thing is like a bible - an easy-to-use guide to all the things you can't eat and exactly why. What I did find was a veggie burger (no mayo) that was genuinely delicious, accompanied by peri peri fries and sweetcorn. Normally (as a meat-eater) I've been feeling pretty sorry for myself in restaurants, but the Nando's experience was really satisfying. Tip: the frozen yoghurt is a dessert, not an option for your soft drinks refill. read more

Nandos - pretty standard, there's one in every town centre. However I wanted to review this one in particular because of how great the staff were! We went on a Tuesday lunchtime and only having an hour we were pushed for time. When we left the office we called ahead and they said not to worry, as it wasn't very busy they were able to save a table for us. We got there, we ordered and the food arrived within 10 mins, allowing us to eat and get back to the office within the hour. The staff were very accommodating and polite - definitely one of the better Nandos I've been to. read more

You know I'm a firm believer in the philosophy Does what it says on the tin and Nandos (Croydon) does this and more. The menu tells you what you need to know without going overboard, the staff are helpful and very friendly and when the food arrives (which was fast at my last visit), it's well cooked and tastes great. The background music was entertaining - Portuguese but with a Christmas slant. Listening to 'Deck the Halls' was a nice touch with a latin feel, brought a smile to my face. All-in-all, it's unassuming, great value, great food and great staff. Maybe some of the central London restaurants I've visited lately should take a similar approach to their service. Crazy Bear you might learn something, but then again perhaps that's asking too much. read more

Everybody loves Nandos including me. However this was my first visit to the Croydon High Street branch. I was sadly disappointed. The chicken wasn't crispy at all, the skin was unfortunately still slimy/soft. Of course the flavour was great, I had my chicken with rice and salad. I noticed a big difference with the salad and table sauces. The sauces seemed watered down/lacking flavour compared to what I'm used to. The salad only had two cherry tomatoes amongst the leaves, that was a shame as the salad used to be much more fulfilling and had more to it, it also used to come with a side dressing. I would return to test whether it was just an off day as I do love a good Nandos, however if I experienced the same with my chicken skin and salad I wouldnt return to this branch. read more

Great place for the money. I love my hot foods. Nandos really does float my boat. With the choice of lemon (not spicy), medium, hot and very hot for the chicken, they cater for everyones spicy needs! 1/2 chicken, 2 sides and a drink is my regular. ALWAYS a great meal. Nando's needs open a location in Orlando FL asap! Their quality of food is always high, and the staff always friendly. I've visited their restaurants in South African, London, and Washington DC, and am never disappointed. The chicken is flavorful, and the extra hot peri peri sauce gives it an additional kick. The sides such as the spicy rice, garlic bread, chips, and corn on the cob are all prepared fresh and made to order. The staff at this particular location was helpful and friendly, and despite the restaurant being very busy, the tables were immaculately clean. The decor is chic and calls on various South African design elements. Two thumbs up! read more

This is one of my favourite restaurants these days in the Croydon area. Their menu is all about Portuguese food and chicken. You can get two decent sized meals for about £13 and that includes a drink. The decor is typicaly the same as in South Africa. The only difference is the accent of the person serving you but they are still determined to keep on top of their customer service which is great. You can choose your own sauces from their table, some are mild and some are super spicy, haven't been brave enough to try that one out yet. The chicken pitta's are lovely and definately worth a go! I love Nandos and have been to most of the branches in London! It is like I am touring the Nandos chain! There food is b=mainly based on chicken with a Portuguese style peri peri flavour. You can get a real meal for around £6 which is cheap and the food is very tasty. This Croydon branch is one of the smallest nandos I have been to which is a bit frustrating as it is one of the busiest. It is in the centre of Croydon so you get the shoppers, clubbers and students all heading there and usually there is a long wait, which has a domino effect. The food takes a while to get to the table, it is hard to squeeze through the tables they have rammed together and the long queue makes it hard to get out the door! But Nandos is nandos and if I want it enough I will wait! Not the best Nandos branch around. read more

It's great warm environment in here. You can see the food cooking which I feel is a bonus, the warm atmosphere takes you to another place (almost country as it were). Understanding staff and helpful manner when describing dishes and what is in sauces, you can ask depending on how spicy you like your food the degree of spice and increase it further still to what I dub 'smoky mouth' lol bringing a great quality to them. When you visit you can see why they are a popular choice regardless what background you are from. Mainly chicken based dishes and sauces that they use can be purchased from there or super markets also, to bring that same quality flavour home to your dishes to. They are busy so on occasions like holidays it's best to plan ahead as you will be surprised at the queue sizes but well worth the wait. One negative point is that because of it's popularity the have had to cram seating areas into there space available but this restaurant offers seating outside especially when our weather eventually gets hotter ('eventually'). There deserts are exquisite choices from ice cream to cake with that Portuguese quality too. The do a selection of hot beverages, drinks and 'bottomless' drinks option which is good on a hot day, but I would be surprised I you can stomach more than two drinks lol. My best advice would be to share a glass with a loved one and only pay for one drink saves the money yet still both of you get to quench the spice in your food if you choose to add them. They offer great salads also in many different varieties to, chicken based or just vegetable with s selection of oils to grace your food with, this is good not just fir vegetarians but people who like a mixed bag of protein, carbs and pulses (slow realising carbohydrate, good fir continuing energy throughout the day, fajitas are available and lots of other choices to. There are kids options to and seating for babies they even clean them infront of you for reassuring your child is not going to walk away with Illness they didn't walk in with. Great trip out. Went here with my sisters the other day. The people taking our order were rude, we got the wrong burgers and were practically thrown out of the restaurant when we were halfway finished. Only good thing about the experience was the handsome guy placing us at our table. read more

My husband had a hair on the plate and manager Gari claimed that it was mine, even tho I was sitting across the table from him and was never around his plate. This is the place with hygiene rating 5? Yum. I went to Nando's several times while in the London area. I have tried a few things on the menu, but my favorite is the butterfly chicken with the medium sauce with the sweet potato "fries". The chicken is awesome. Not dry, great flavor, and somewhat "healthy". The sweet potato fries are more like baked sweet potato wedges - but I loved them. They are served with a coriander sauce and side of seeds (sunflower and other kinds). I assumed you were supposed to dip the sweet potato wedge in the coriander sauce and then in the seeds.... I may have been doing it wrong... but yum. So worth it. I've also had the chicken pita - also awesome. A friend that went with me every time likes the chicken pita with halumi on it, while that sounds good, I haven't tried it, but seems like something I should try the next time in London. You can't fault Nando's. They do great tasting cheap food and there is one to be found in most towns! This is a great choice for a kids party on the cheap and the staff are friendly and attentive. They have also been running a Nando's fanatic scheme where you get points everytime you visit that you can 'cash' in for free items on subsequent visits. read more
