This was my first time trying Nando's in the London area. I had tried Nando's many years ago in Vancouver, BC and noticed several locations around London during my stay. Finally, before a 10+ hour flight to LA, I needed a big meal so Nando's was perfect. I like that they are very sensitive to allergies by asking if we have any as they seat you. Even though it was breakfast time, I really wanted to try what they are known for so I ordered a half chicken with medium spice and chose regular rice for my side. I also ordered a side of Halloumi (fried cheese) which I recently discovered while in London. I had a Galao (a hot drink from Portugal made by adding foamed milk to espresso coffee. Similar to caffè latte or café au lait) to finish it all off. I really enjoyed the chicken as it was very tender and fell right off the bone with little effort. I love that they have all their sauce varieties at a sauce bar so you can sample multiple flavors. The medium spice level was perfect for me with just a bit of heat. The rice was a nice complement to tame the spiciness and the Halloumi cheese was a great side. Overall, I really like Nando's and will keep an eye out for one in the Seattle area to try. I never knew Nando's served breakfast so this experience was a pleasant surprise. Food was seasoned really well- coffee was great: not too water like but cafe quality - orange juice was divine, freshly squeezed and rich with flavor (I immediately regretted not getting a to go cup of it to enjoy in my flight). Service was excellent- food came out promptly and my table was checked on multiple times. Ambiance was chic and inviting. The south African playlist added a very nice touch to the experience. But it's slightly different in that you get a table with an assigned number first, and then go back up to go through the same ol' rigamarole of ordering from the counter. Depending on where you get a table, it can end up being quite a walk! This Nando's is an absolute unit. Got the half chicken with two sides. Was everything I remembered Nando's being. Delicious, big portions, and all the sauces under the sun. Weird bits - the bathroom is outside the place, so not great for solo travelers. Airport restaurant with a little extra kick in every bite. Known for its peri- peri sauce, we dropped in for breakfast before our flight back to Seattle. The food was delicious, but it was the extra add-ons that left a sour taste in our mouth. It was too late by the time we received our food that the cashier had (probably by mistake) misheard our order. It makes me sad to waste food, but it wasn't worth the fuss to return the food / attempt to get a refund. So we ate what we could of the additional food. Our order was supposed to be the chicken burger, eggs on white toast, corny chips, orange juice and bottle water. What we got was all the above with an extra plate of toast, a side of chips, and chili jam sauce--which just was more than we needed this morning. The only reason I was interested in eating here is because I keep hearing footballers who live in England that have eaten there or talked about it. Bring your number (they give you a number) with you to a table. They got booths and tables seating. Pretty spacious in a "normal" setting but considering how populated an airport can get one get I had to wait to find a free spot. So what did I order? Well this place specializes in chicken. There's a lot of chicken things like chicken salads, sandwiches, etc. I decided to go for the chicken wings. I thought I had ordered the spicy but I got mild instead. The chicken was okay. One piece looked a little undercooked so that wasn't good. The mild wasn't a lie. It wasn't mild. More like a drop of heat but not necessarily spice on the chicken. I liked the fries more than the chicken to be honest. The fries were crispy and not to salty. Not as hyped as I thought it would be. But it wasn't awful. Ate here with my boyfriend while waiting for a layover. As far as airport restaurants go, this is a very nice one. Lots of space (60+ tables), colorful decorations, and nice music. FYI to everyone, this is a restaurant that makes everything out of chicken, so their menu consists mostly of wings, chicken burgers, chicken pita sandwiches, and chicken wraps. We got seated really quickly, and put in our orders at the register as soon as we knew what we wanted. I orders the Trio Burger-medium (not on the regular menu, possibly a special? It's a chicken burger with a portobello mushroom), and creamy mash (aka mashed potatoes), and my boyfriend ordered the Sunset Burger-medium with spicy rice. We also shared a side of garlic bread. When the burgers came out, I was a bit surprised. First of all, they were very small. The buns were made out of English breakfast muffins. There was a lot of sauce pouring out of my burger, and it was held together by a toothpick.. As soon as I took a bite of my burger, the portobello mushroom started sliding out. It was very hard to eat. The mushroom was drenched in barbecue sauce, so I ended up taking it out. The creamy mash on the side was anything but creamy. Actually, it was quite dry. But still not bad. My boyfriends Sunset burger was better. The red pepper chutney on it was sweet and had a very nice flavor to it. The spicy rice however was quite bland. Nothing spicy about it (welcome to Europe, I guess). The portions are not that big. Enough for me, but my boyfriend was still hungry afterward, and ended up finishing my burger for me. Something to note: this place is pretty proud of its sauces. They have a wide range of "peri-peri" sauces ranging from extra mild to extra hot. Us, being the adventurers that we are, decided to try all of them. Being from San Diego, we have quite a variety of sauces that we have tried, so our standards might be a little high. In any case, I was not impressed. I think every single sauce they had had waayyyyy too much lemon juice (or other acidic flavor) in it. Pretty much ruined it for me. They just weren't good sauces. Even their "Creamy salad dressing" (aka ranch) was lemony. Between the two of us our meal cost £22, which is a bit pricey in my opinion. The reason I still gave this place 4 stars was because, while I didn't like the flavors of the burger, or the sauces, I will admit that the quality of the chicken used in the burgers was quite nice. White meat, none of the chicken nugget crap they use in McDonalds. Overall, I might eat here again if I'm flying through this airport again, but I would never go out of my way to eat here. read more

It included a whole chicken, 2 regular sides, and 2 drinks. The chicken we had was dry and not very flavorful (compared to other Nando's restaurants ). Not much mango lime flavor at all. Had to drench it in sauce to get it to taste better. Garlic bread was decent, and the rice was ok. Maybe our experience was an anomaly. Hopefully, that was the case. My friend and I walked passed a few Nando's while exploring London but didn't go in. I was surprised to see this in the airport and decided I needed to try it out. You wait in line to be seated and then you go up to the register to place your order. I got the chicken thighs in medium sauce with peri salted fries and spicy rice. Medium sauce isn't crazy spicy and kind of wished I went a level up - that being said I love spicy foods. But they have a sauce station that has a variety of sauces including a super spicy sauce. Ugh the chicken was so juicy and the sauce was super flavorful. I loved the rice but could live without the fries. They said the fries would be salted with some type of spice but from the looks and taste of it, felt like regular fries to me. It's Nando's so it's lives up to it's expectation. My review won't be so much about the food but more on the place itself. This is in South Terminal in Gatwick Airport and the great thing about this place is that it has the departure monitor inside the restaurant. There're multiple displays inside of it so it makes it super easy to check your gates while eating and not having to run outside to figure it out. Awesome feature for people who need to check on the gate number. There's only one thing that annoyed me a little , you will have to stand in line to order your food and if you need a spot to sit and there isn't one available they will still ask that you queue up behind the cashier and they will seat you if once becomes available. Not a bad idea right ? Wrong ! They pull you out of the line that you are in to sit you and then you will have to go back in line to order your food. This forcefully makes you queue up twice. Quick service other than that. We were seated fairly fast and we served within 15 minutes after ordering. If you are in a super rush , go to one of the stores that sell ready made sandwich. I tried three of their sauces - hot, garlic, and creamy dressing (like ranch). They were all very good. It really filled me up before our plane took off. I wish there were one closer to me in LA because I would love to return to try their chicken. All in all a great experience, but the only downfall is the cashier. There are no words for how our experience just was at this amazing restaurant. The food of course was phenomenal, but even better was their staff. It was my first time and my boyfriends second, and they made sure we were completely taken care of. Great energy, great assistance, extra care and detail for each thing we ordered. Even keeping our take away food warm while we ate our in house order. We didn't have to ask for a thing, yet everything was taken care of. I got to the airport early, excited to have Nandos for lunch, but this is by far the worst Nandos I have ever dined at. Not only was the Quinoa Salad pathetically small with barely any of the specified toppings (literally 4 half cucumber slices and two tomatoes-one of which tasted rotten), but also it was an additional £4 for chicken, of which I received 3 small strips that were cold and dry. In addition to the food being unsatisfactory, the service was atrocious. I asked for pepper to take away, only to be shown where it was and told it was not there. I asked if it was possible to get more from out back, to which he replied, "no, well I don't know, I can't leave this spot." I then had to leave all my valuables at my table at the airport and sprint back into the back of the restaurant to hand grind very slowly my own pepper into a small container and run back, hoping my things hadn't been stolen. I expected better from Nandos and for £11, but I should have just gone to Pret for consistency, at least you know what you are going to get and it is much cheaper. read more

This Nando's is located in Gatwick airport, so it's pretty huge, and I like that there are charging pods on the table to charge your devices. Nandos for breakfast. What an awesome revolutionary idea! I was so excited that I have since been telling more people than I really should! Why am I unreasonably happy about this? Because I don't like English breakfasts and because i also generally don't like most airport food options, finding them both overpriced and uninspired. So finding one of my favourite chains and then additionally discovering that you can order some of the lunch/dinner mains (burger, 1/2 chicken, 1/4 chicken) even in the morning time, had me all aflutter! And the price was not bad at all. I chose the burger (and the chips artistically dusted with Nando's salt) over the fractional chickens and obviously really enjoyed it. They have all the usual selections of sauces to play with. The only minor setback was that the heat seemed to be dialled down from the usual fire provided. I suspect this could be because in an airport they likely get more people unfamiliar with the Nando's concept, unaware that even the hot is actually quite challenging. I was erring on the side of caution, having been awake barely an hour, so will just crank it up a notch on my order next time. And there will definitely be a next time. Whenever I next fly out of this terminal! And the price didn't even seem particularly inflated given the airport location! read more

I have seen this chain in numerous places around the world, so I decided to give it a go given the limited choices in the terminal. The good: The staff is very nice, the area is clean and it has a good view of the tarmac. The bad: The food is uninteresting and flavorless. Even though they pride themselves on the different sauces they offer, these do little to enhance the overall flavor or experience. I ordered the Grilled Chicken and the sweet potato wedges. Neither had any flavor whatsoever, the grilled chicken breast was one of the blandest pieces of chicken I have ever had and the fact that you smear some sauce on top of it after you cook it does not help the matter. The grilled sweet potato wedges were OK but the large chunks barely fit in the little dipping cup they provided. It´s possible that I erred by choosing the wrong sandwich, be that as it may, I would take a Chick-Fil-A sandwich over this any day of the week. read more

I ordered a coffee and a breakfast haloumi and avocado roll with no mayo and some chili jam on the side. I food came out covered in mayo and I had to ask twice where my coffee was. The omelette: "I didn't know what I was eating." The corny browns - at first - were a novelty but after three bites suddenly lost their appeal. On the positive side, the staff was nice and efficient.
