Nando's - Custard was nice and thick

Long queues await, at Nando's Gatwick South! It's a very popular chain restaurant, but even between…read moremealtimes it had a very long queue to be seated. Ordering is digital (QR code) and fairly simple. Service was fast but not friendly. Food is good quality and they have a good offering of non-soda soft drinks (eg Kombucha).

Finally, before a 10+ hour flight to LA, I needed a big meal so Nando's was perfect. I like that they are very sensitive to allergies by asking if we have any as they seat you. Even though it was breakfast time, I really wanted to try what they are known for so I ordered a half chicken with medium spice and chose regular rice for my side. I also ordered a side of Halloumi (fried cheese) which I recently discovered while in London. I had a Galao (a hot drink from Portugal made by adding foamed milk to espresso coffee. Similar to caffè latte or café au lait) to finish it all off. I really enjoyed the chicken as it was very tender and fell right off the bone with little effort. I love that they have all their sauce varieties at a sauce bar so you can sample multiple flavors. The medium spice level was perfect for me with just a bit of heat. The rice was a nice complement to tame the spiciness and the Halloumi cheese was a great side. Overall, I really like Nando's and will keep an eye out for one in the Seattle area to try. Thanks!

I fly in and out of Gatwick frequently and EAT is one of my must-stops when hopping across the pond…read moreback home from London. It's fast, it's fresh, and it's reasonably priced -- for London and an airport location. I hate the junk they serve on Virgin Atlantic (really, how can they even dare to call it "food"?) so I always pick up a healthy alternative here to carry on the plane with me. This go around I got a yummy healthy box that had grilled broccoli, red quinoa, black rice, and hummus. The portion size was good and it was super satisfying. All of my fellow passengers stuffed in coach glared at me as they wolfed down their nasty airline meal while I was pretending to be traveling in first class with my fresh and tasty EAT box! My other favorite thing to get here is the avocado toast, a simple slice of whole wheat sourdough bread that's lightly toasted then topped with a huge pile of fresh avocado. I find that it's the perfect pre-flight snack: filling, healthy, and doesn't make you feel gross before a long haul. EAT is a great place to stop for snacks, from breakfast pastries to coffee to sodas to desserts to prepackaged, fresh meals. Everything is made and assembled fresh, and I think their options are more appealing than those at the nearby Pret A Manger.

I chose a flat white because they're awesome. What isn't awesome is the size. Their idea of Regular is what I'm used to being a small. The taste is also more bitter than I expected. Usually they're naturally sweet tasting.
