The food great as usual but the presentation was disappointing, especially since the delivery person noticed the bottom of bag was soaked and said something on pick up with Nan King's remedy to just to put the soggy paper bag in a plastic one. I realized the soup was crushed and all inside was soaked and messy. The sweet and sour sauce was like flavored water. 9 pm Saturday 4/11/26 only 2 other tables were filled with 4 people each, After being sat maybe 5 minutes the waitress came by for our drink order. We asked for water and tea and she glared at me as if she was annoyed and walked away. She came back with water dropped it and continued to another table. She didn't return for 10 minutes and slammed 2 teacups down and without stopping walked away and returned to attend the bar. We waited 20 minutes she didn't return we got up and walked out. Haven't been here for a while and was craving the best boneless spareribs around along with an order of Beef on a stick. Walked in and they have made some changes to the look and cleaned it up a lot. The gentleman that always works behind the counter is always so friendly. It was pretty busy as you could hear a DJ in the bar area. Sat down and ate the best boneless spareribs still to this day in my opinion. The beef on a stick was great tasting as well. Definitely have to try this place once and you will get hooked. My family has been eating at Nan King for over 40 years. This place has been around the block. I now live in VA and every time I come home to NH (at least 2x a year) we get Nan King take out. I've never been able to find another Chinese restaurant that compares in my area. Our staple menu items are chicken and beef teriyaki, crab rangoon, fried rice (the chicken is tastier than veggie), lo mein, and chicken fingers. A few years ago the food seemed to take a dive. The teriyaki skewers were tiny and dry, crab rangoons were not as plentiful or tasty. However; the last year or so the food is back to its original quality and maybe even better! The inside of Nan King desperately needs an overhaul. It's pretty dated and downright gross. The bathrooms are embarrassing... however, I never eat inside and rarely even pick up the food, though I did just go there last week and it was pretty rough. As long as the food quality stays the same, I don't really care about the inside, but they really need to update and renovate at some point. Regardless, Nan king is a part of our family tradition and we will get take out as long as they remain open! This place has been there for over 45 years! Since we moved to Nashua we've been looking for a go to Chinese place. Tonight we ordered from Nan King and I've never been more disgusted in my life. To start I order Peking ravioli and yaki udon. I was specific about which udon because there are 3 on the menu, two had shrimp which I'm allergic to and one did not. My mother ordered general tsao chicken and my husband ordered sweet and sour chicken. The udon came loaded with shrimp so I couldn't even eat it, the Peking ravioli was disgusting and had mystery chunks of something in it. The general tsao chicken was chicken fingers. The sweet and sour chicken was ok. So we called to ask about what happened and we were told they only have one udon and it has shrimp, no answer on the Peking raviolis and they claimed the chicken fingers were general tsaos. This full service Chinese restaurant serves up Cantonese, Szechuan, Polynesian, and American cuisine and 22 Luncheon Specials ($3.95-$8.35/Mon-Sat until 3PM) and 9 Special Combination Plates are offered. Also, a daily Lunch Buffet is offered until 2PM. For takeout, I've had good luck with the lunch specials and the food comes out hot and fresh. I enjoy ordering Lunch Special No. 16 ($5.75): Pork Lo Mein served with Pork Fried Rice, Egg Roll, and 2 Chicken Teriyakis is a good sized portion and the food is tasty. The lo mein noodles are soft with roast pork strips, sprouts, & onions. The pork fried rice (brown color) is mixed with roast pork cubes (some fat pieces) and fried onions. The chicken teriyaki sticks are are thick and tender and the egg roll is stuffed with minced cabbage, ground pork & seasonings with a slight sweet flavor. For lunch, the buffet is a good value which offers over 30 items ($6.50 Mon-Sat/$7.50-Sun) including fried foods (egg roll, spring roll, fish sticks, pizza rolls, fries, onion rings, crab rangoon, chicken fingers, peking ravioli), chicken teriyaki, lobster sauce, pork egg foo young, pork lo mein, pork chow mein, chicken sub gum chow mein, pork fried rice, white rice, mixed vegetables, soups (egg drop, hot & sour), and desserts (fruit, jello, brownies, fortune cookies, hard ice cream). If you're sick of all the other places in the area and are craving chineese this place is is. Has a bar area and Karaoke. I ordered takeout. Got the you choose combo plate. Got crab Rangoon, teriyaki, pork lo main, and spare ribs. Wasn't a fan of the crab Rangoon's or the spare ribs. Spare ribs were huge. ( not the small pieces). The Rangoon's were super super crunchy. The teriyaki on the stick is so good and the Lomein was great. Kitchen didn't seem clean they had a bucket of ribs just chilling in a huge bucket on the floor? Food is just average. It is definitely one of the greasier places. After finishing my egg roll and the crab rangoons, my fingers were noticeably greasy. The crab rangoon was actually crispy and pretty tasty. The chicken teriyaki was better than average, and it was a little well done which I liked. The flavor was there, although not quite as much of a teriyaki flavor as I would've liked. Fried rice was ok, it tasted a little burnt and it just tasted off. We've been going here for close to 30 years, now it's under new management and it's simply not the same. Tonight for New Year's Eve we did our normal order ($54) and we are quite disappointed. They were completely unorganized tonight, the food was undercooked. The beef fried rice had raw onions in it. The LoMein appeared to be spaghetti with no flavor, it was almost white. The crab rangoon were poorly assembled and stuffed into the box crushing them. No pepper in the General GAO so it was simply a sweet sauce.. I understand that it's NYE but honestly, the old owners never let quality lapse like this even in this busy time. I think my days of ordering food here are done. read more

It's another sad end to a once incredibly consistent restaurant with friendly service. I enjoyed their food for a few decades and it was among my favorite Chinese restaurants. As others have said, new ownership took over sometime in 2018. The recipes and quality have changed, not for the better. Last month I ordered some takeout and each dish was horrible. Very disappointed... I ordered 3 plates, all number 9 from lunch menu. They were 11.55 each. When I ordered, I asked to substitute boneless ribs for ribs on the bone and pork strips. I was told it would cost more to substitute. I said ok I will pay the extra dollar for each. My husband picked up the order which came to over $46.00! I totaled it to 39.77. My husband called back to inquire why he was overcharged. He was told it was $4 for each substitution, after I had said $1 and was told "okay". He said he would credit my card $4. I haven't seen that yet. My plate had 2 very small ribs, 2 pork strips and 3 chicken fingers. So, I was going to be charged 11.55 for rice and 3 chicken fingers and another $8 for the 2 ribs and 2 pork strips. It does not state a $4 charge for a substitution anywhere on the menu! Check your slip before you pay!! This was Always my go to for Chinese, but I will find another place. read more

Went to NaN King after moving to the area and having some disappointing takeout elsewhere. Sat at the bar to see some of the Red Sox game. Ordered mai Tais and an appetizer dish while my wife ordered the Gen Gau plate. Dishes came out hot and were good. Egg roll chicken fingers very tasty. Ribs were bone in which I usually hate BUT here they had some meat on them and were spiced nicely. Chicken wings good though maybe a little less time in the fryer to make them more golden. Gen gay was tasty and well received. Drinks were good. Irene the bar tender was attentive and we enjoyed chatting with her. She knew her regulars also. After proving to them they we actually did place an order and having to prove it to them on their own caller ID, they finally admit that they gave our order to someone else. OK No problem now we have to wait an additional 20 minutes so they can re-prepare our order. It's not bad enough that they initially didn't believe that we even ordered, but you would think they would be apologetic to the fact that we now have to wait an additional 20 minutes. We go to the Nan King frequently and love the food and service. The karaoke is always fun. Their lunch and dinner buffet has many different options. I recommend getting there right when it starts. We love their special combination plates, especially the "Whatever You Like" which you can choose up to 3 apps with fried rice for about 10 bucks. $7 for the lunchtime buffet. Not sure if it's worth even that, though. There is a variety from which to choose, but most of the dishes are quite bland. Only one of the two steam tables used for the hot buffet was working, so food from the other one cooled off quickly. There was no water or steam in the table at all. Not sure how they get away with this, what with health department inspections. Wait staff wasn't friendly or attentive (they actually seemed to resent the fact we'd come,) but we tipped them well, anyway, just because they had so few diners during the noon hour that we felt sorry for them. With so few customers we can't figure out how they stay in business. Despite all this, if you decide to try this place for the lunch buffet try not to show up until close to noon because they probably won't be ready for you despite the fact they say they open at 11:30 a.m. read more

Horrible service. Placed a order at 5 PM , got there by 525 was told another few minutes. Waited 30 minutes along with 6 others in the lobby. Host continued to answer phones ignoring the take out bags being brought out by the kitchen. When the host decided to start calling names my takeout had been sitting for 10 minutes and he called 3 others who arrived after me before he got to me. Very rude , no apology . I had give every other week for a Saturday afternoon buffet. I stopped by Friday night a week and a half ago and the shrimp with lobster sauce was like they dumped a few pounds of cheap Hamburg meet in a vat of water and left it. Usually the buffet is half filled and they don't refill the buffer trays so you just accept that only cheaper items may be brought out occasionally. I think I'm done there. read more
