We didn't plan on eating lunch, but we shared a One Item Combo. We got the Vegetable Curry...VERY delicious and flavorful. The pickle side was a shock to my taste buds. SO EPIC in flavor. The accompanied sauces were very yummy . The side of Byrani Rice and Garlic Naan ( which was piping hot out of the oven) was delicious too. I've never had it before so I didnt know what to expect. I also ordered a side of garlic naan. The serving was very generous but it was also a bit dry compared to other naan I have had. I called first to check if they had butter chicken. The person on the phone told me that their chicken tikki masala WAS butter chicken. So, I thought I had said it incorrectly, so I asked for butter chicken as Makhan Murg. And, again, he confirmed that the chicken tikki masala was the same. How in the world are the ratings so high for Indian Kitchen? I'm sorry but I have tried Indian food around SoCal and I don't know WHAT I ate yesterday. I'm sure it was more like "Indian" food because it was FAR from the authentic Indian food I've come to enjoy at other restaurants. This little fast food shop is located next to Flame Broiler. I decided to come here instead since I had never been to Indian Kitchen--plus, the Yelp reviews were great! I ordered their 2-item combo (Chicken Curry and Chicken Tikka Masala). It came with a choice of plain or garlic naan, including rice, a side of veggies, and a drink--for $6.99! "What a deal!" NOT! The chicken from the tikka masala dish had some dark color on it. I figured the chicken breast was pan-seared before being smothered in its sauce. Both chicken dishes were watery and bland! The garlic naan was edible. I liked that it was hot but it didn't taste like true garlic naan to me. I ended up throwing the rest of my food away because I just couldn't finish it. As for service, the guy behind the counter (also the cashier) was friendly in comparison to other to-go places. And I think that's what they have going for them besides the great combo prices displayed outside their establishment. I also looked through the kitchen and saw a worker chopping onions. Although, he wore gloves, his arm hair was exposed. I would think that he would need to wear some type of long-sleeve to cover up all that body hair as a hair net is even required for bald people...just saying. Now I'm paying for it...with an upset stomach! I should have listened to my own advice about avoiding cheaper places because, in the end, the quality I was served went down... my "drain"! read more
