Delicious and authentic Pakistani cuisine at affordable prices. My first time trying out Pakistani food. I split a specialty dish with a friend and we ordered an additional cilantro naan to share. Glad that we didn't order another main as we were stuffed to the brim afterwards. Love the huge space too.

    Lunch. Pakistani food. Delicious.

So I've eaten a version of this dish done by many different cultures. A rice pilaf and a lamb shank. This one is Pakistani. I've had it Greek, Turkish, Indian, Balkan, American, and even done it myself at home. This one is among the best if not the best. It certainly is the most ample. There were two meals on this plate. I ate half and took the other half to go. This establishment calls in "Mandi Lamb" @ $28 per. Some of the rest naan bread I ever had too. Fresh baked, super buttery 'n soft. Served on some sort of coat hanger device which looked super weird but it was effective for presentation. The price was fabulous too. Went to lunch with my colleague and he and I had the same dish plus a dish of chickpeas and a couple of Cokes. Pakistani food reminds you of Indian perhaps because of the geographical and cultural connection between the two countries - they're reminiscent of one another. Did I say this food is really, really good? $72 for this entire meal. We had almost an identical dish at a fancy Turkish restaurant that was triple that price - Not nearly as filling or well flavored. Downside is they don't sell liquor. :/ The interiors are Spartan, but the place is larger than it looks from the outside. Definitely an undercover gem. They have a nice buffet or you can dine a la carte. Our server let me taste some really flavorful noodles that they had... And a couple of pieces of curry chicken. Breast meat and still juicy like dark meat. The noodles were a fettuccine noodle covered in a super well flavored sauce. I think it was called "Pakistani noodles". Scrumptious. Parking is DC downtown atrocious although I found a park a block away. Service was efficient and personable. Get here if you can.

The lamb was awful. Ordered lamb kabobs and instead was delivered lamb curry. It was dry, extra extra gamey. I love lamb, order it, cook it myself, this was either frozen too long, or left out too long. I will never comeback here. The chicken Schwarma was just ok. Even the chaat papdi, you can tell it's just uncooked canned chickpeas. My Pakistani fiancée grew up poor, and would never leave food on her plate if it was safe to eat. This was unfinishable.

We were so glad to discover Namak Mandi during our trip to Washington, DC. It was so good that we went back a second time before our vacation ended. Located right next to the Capital Hilton, it was incredibly convenient and quickly became one of our favorite meals in the city. The food was authentic and full of bold, traditional flavors. The chicken karahi was perfectly spiced and tender. The chapli kabob had great texture and seasoning, the Kabuli pulao was well-balanced with tender meat and a touch of sweetness, and the lamb biryani was rich and flavorful. The restaurant was also very clean and spacious, which made for a comfortable dining experience. They have a large dining area, but it was pretty empty both times we visited. I hope they start getting more customers because the food really deserves more attention. It can be hard to find good Pakistani restaurants, especially ones that truly get the flavors right, so we were genuinely impressed. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in DC and will recommend it to anyone looking for authentic South Asian cuisine.

That is really cool--and great for people who don't drink much, like me! There's also a quite large menu of mocktails, which look very intriguing, but tonight I opted for a lassi drink because I needed to get some nutrients in after a very sweaty hot yoga workout... I tried the following: - Mango lassi - thick, sweet, and very refreshing after a sweaty workout! It was my first time to try a lassi, and I thought it was great. The texture was very thick and creamy and smooth, and you can definitely taste the mango. - Veggie samosa - texture was perfect, very crispy. The sauces were outstanding and very flavorful. Possibly the best veggie samosas I've had! - Butter chicken - not the best butter chicken I've had but still a solid dish. The sauce seemed to be less creamy and less sweet than other places, yet a bit more flavorful. My partner was a bit disappointed in this dish, but I still thought it was good (I'm more about flavors, while my partner is more about creaminess). I did find the chicken meat to be a tad dry though. - Lamb & spinach - lamb meat was excellent and very tender. While the butter chicken (see above) might've been a bit dry, this lamb was cooked perfectly. And it was packed with tonsssss of flavors. - Garlic naan - texture was not as thick/soft as I would've liked, but the flavor was veryyyy garlicky, which I liked. Heads-up: It takes a while for the food to get ready. The place seems to make everything from scratch. So, order some appetizers if you're hungry while you wait for the main dishes!

We were a large group and ordered a wide variety of dishes including the lamb roll, lamb chops, palak chaat, paneer tikka, crab, shrimp curry, and the Everything Mango dessert. The food was delicious across the board, with plenty of bold flavors and beautifully prepared dishes. The downside is that it comes at a fairly high price, so I expected the overall experience to match the quality of the food. Unfortunately, the service was the biggest disappointment. We had made our reservation several days in advance for a large group, yet our server seemed to be rushing us from the moment we sat down. Even while choosing our wine, we were repeatedly pushed to make a decision rather than being given time to look through the options. It felt unnecessarily rushed and pushy, which really put a damper on what should have been a special group dinner. The atmosphere is lovely, with a sophisticated and ambient setting that works well for special occasions. Given the prices, though, I expected much more polished service. Great food, but the rushed service left a bad taste and unfortunately overshadowed an otherwise delicious meal.

Even the vegetarians in our group were raving about the food. We ordered the lamb merguez, mushroom hummus, eggplant appetizer, and a family-style spread of soltani kebab, lamb kebab, and chicken barg. Everything was packed with flavor and beautifully prepared. The portions are HUGE, so definitely plan to share. I also loved the fresh sabzi served with pita--it was such a simple but delicious addition. The mocktails were excellent as well and paired beautifully with the food. Service was outstanding. We were a large group, and the team took excellent care of us with quick, attentive, and friendly service throughout. A recent visit to DC with some dear friends provided the perfect opportunity to check out their branch here and assess how it compares to the original. Happily, I found the food here essentially equivalent to what I sampled at the Atlanta locations, that is, excellent. We started with the sabzi and bread service, which pairs Rumi's excellent and freshly baked Persian style naan with fresh herbs and feta cheese, which makes for a light and refreshing start to the meal. Our appetizers comprised the lamb hummus, the fatoush salad, kashk-bademjan eggplant dip, and the duo of yogurts. All were great, with the classic, creamy eggplant and the tangy, cooling yogurt duo standing out for me personally. We ordered three entrees, including the lamb kebab, beef soltani combination, and the duck fesenjan stew. All the kebabs possessed a juicy texture, great seasoning, and had an excellent cook. The duck had a tangy sweet flavor profile that may not be for everyone but was nonetheless satisfying with rice. Speaking of the rices, the fluffy grains complimented all of our dishes well and we particularly enjoyed the dill-fava bean as well as the lentil-raisin renditions. Do note that portions here are generous, and splitting entrees is suggested especially if you opt for a decent number of appetizers as we did. Special mention should be made of the cocktails at Rumi's. While I personally did not have a mixed drink, my friends all raved about the flavor profiles of their libations and found them refreshing and balanced relative to others we had in the city. Service here meets the high standard I experienced at the Atlanta locations, and our waitress was helpful and attentive. The space itself is bright and strikes a great balance between rustic Persian accents and more modern, swanky touches. Overall, Rumi's offers a well rounded Persian dining experience with great food, drinks, service, and ambiance which is hard to beat. It's well worth a visit for any fan of Middle Eastern flavors, and my wife and I are already planning our next meal here.

The prices were reasonable as well. What a great choice, quite literally the best Indian food we've ever had anywhere, hands down! We had an appetizer; samosa chaat, so good and fresh! We had butter chicken as an entree which had the most amazing, creamy, smooth taste I've ever had, no one does it like that! Also got the tandoori paneer tikki, so good, cheese was smoky and melts in mouth, the cheese and butter naan we got was yummy as well! We got a birthday drink too which was quite refreshing. During the meal the owner stopped to see how the food was, I told him it was the best we've ever had, I told him we we're celebrating my sons birthday, at the end of the meal he surprised him with a cake and turned on happy birthday music playing throughout the speakers in the restaurant ! The food here is extremely authentic and well seasoned I've eaten most of the lamb/goat dishes here and they're all phenomenal! The first time I came I believe my table had the goat curry, lamb curry, pani puri, samosa chaat, and butter chicken. And this time we got the goat sekuwa, lamb karahi, lamb thakali thali, and pani puri (again). I think it speaks volume about a place when the butter chicken (which is still great) is not the standout dish in a desi restaurant. And even then it's one of the most seasoned versions I've ever tasted. The dishes here are all amazing, flaborful, and not spicy (though I'm sure you can always ask about adding or taking away spice to the waiters). The service here is fast, there's never been a long line. And the place is very clean, spacious, and good for all ages. I cannot recommend this place enough, if you're debating whether or not you should come consider that debate over -- you're coming.
