Went in on Valentine's Day. 8:30pm. Spencer was our server and was amazing! So friendly and attentive! We sat at the sushi bar and it was actually fun watching the chefs make everything and all the dishes. Great atmosphere and vibe in there. Is upscale and classy but still fun and inviting! 10/10 recommend. read more

Great atmosphere and an incredible menu that doesn't disappoint. I've had a couple unpleasant interactions with servers here, but I'm not going to let that get in the way with the quality of the food. read more

Great flavor and fish was high quality and fresh. Creative menu. The Waygu hot rocks was a fun experience and tasty treat as well.

Amazing food, service, & atmosphere! Run, don't walk, you will not be disappointed! Indulge all your senses at this fabulous restaurant; they have everything you're looking for - nice ambiance, attentive & friendly staff, & excellent food. They create masterpieces with well balanced flavors. I highly recommend the Blue Fin! The Snow White was delicious as well with a beautiful lemon finish. Shout out to Danny for the excellent drinks & friendly service. We sat at the cocktail bar & witnessed Danny in action creating cocktails like no other & moving quickly & efficiently so no one is left waiting, all while being friendly, making recommendations, answering questions, etc. He just added to our great experience. Can't wait to return & try many of the other tantalizing menu offerings! read more

I went with one other person. The entrance is s little tricky to find. It is not the two doors on Notre Dame blvd. Trust me, the patrons sitting next to the windows probably hey a good laugh at people trying to find the correct door. I think the entrance does need to be a bit more obvious. Anyway, my date and i spent a little more than $100 on 4 dishes and two drinks. We got 3 rolls, the Meriam, Noelle, and Rainbow. The Meriam was really good and actually spicy. If you wondered if it would actually be spicy to your taste buds, it will. The Noelle was tasty. And the rainbow roll was your regular rainbow roll. It was fine. One of them had way too much pepper salt on top. I think it was the Noelle roll. I tasted nothing but pepper the first bite. That's really annoying, because my first impression of the roll was ruined. But I got over it, pushed off some of the pepper and found it was still delicious. One gripe i have is that they didn't have Sapporo or Asahi beer. What sushi place doesn't have Japan's two major beer brands? Just a little weird... Our server was very attentive. The bartenders also really wanted to get our cocktail correct and made sure it was right. The places is bustling after 5, and I recommend a reservation. We had a reservation for the bar. Speaking of the bar , it's lit up well and looks inviting. The cooking stations are fun to watch the chefs slice up vegetables and meat. Everything is clean and ambience is relaxing inside, despite a pretty full venue. Aside from the extra pepper, everything was great. I think I'll come back with my mom next time. 3 rolls was perfect for 2 people. read more

So delish. Fresh. Came here for a date night. Cute ambiance, sat on patio. Definitely will be back asap! Bar looks cute to sit at.

It's meh. It's got good service. It's a cute place but the sushi is just okay. Make sure you reserve a spot ahead of time or you will be turned away even if they clearly have open tables. read more

This is one busy restaurant, possibly the best Japanese restaurant in Chico. Make reservations for dinner! We enjoyed our meal: vegetable and shrimp tempura, chicken teriyaki, hamachi nigiri, wakame salad. We admired the many beautiful sushi rolls and platters being delivered to nearby tables. It's not an inexpensive restaurant, but it's worth the splurge. Service is good. Sit at the bar and watch the chefs assemble the dishes. You'll be licking your lips the rest of the evening. read more

This place is a hopeless, and classless establishment. I don't normally write bad reviews about other people's business. Especially to a new business. We took our family to Nama Sake which they promoted as a higher-end restaurant. Their fish quality is meh. You can get this seafood selection in Chico for less than $60 per person. If you are in the Chico region, go try Raw Bar or Aonami. Fish quality over there is 200% better and more authentic way to offer it was only half price compared to this restaurant. To be honest Raw Bar can offer better rice than Nama Sake. Nama Sake rice is mushy and flavorless. It takes an eternity for our meal to be served. Upwards hour and 45 minutes. Would never go back or recommend anyone to go there. Raw Bari is better than Nama Sake hands down. 1000% no returning!!! read more

I'm not a sushi person but the chicken teriyaki entree and the A5 wagyu are amazing and perfect . A5 is pre-sliced and served on a 750° hot stone. Fun to cook and make it how you want it every time . And both dishes are priced fairly . I could eat that every day read more

First and last time here. Service sucked! It took 1 hour to get our food. We ordered half a dozen oysters, ramen, 7pc sashimi hamachi. Food wasn't what we expected. We asked for Tabasco for our oyster, for the waiter to come back with sriracha and say they don't have Tabasco. Ramen was only warmish cold temp and flavorless as well as the chashu pork. The chashu pork was too tough. The Hamachi didn't even taste fresh. Very disappointing. The atmosphere was really noisy as if everyone was tryna see would was the loudest of all. read more

food is great, a bit over priced but tasty. however, drinks are warm and diluted and all you can taste is apathy.

We made a reservation a couple days ago and were seated right away. Everything we ordered was amazingly delicious! Chico is lucky to have sushi this good. Perfect dining experience! Bravo! read more

In my opinion, this is the best sushi restaurant in Chico. I give it 4 stars for ambiance, quality of the presentation, perfection and quality of the rice and fish as well as the balance of flavor. I am from Los Angeles with amazing sushi places and this did not disappoint. read more

Warm welcoming environment. The staff are polite and accommodating; always ready to assist and recommend deliciously cooked meals. Speaking of the food. Went to nama sake tonight with a friend for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. The food was not only decently priced but also great in presentation and in flavor. My friend and I ordered the truffle edamame that was full of good flavor, crispy spicy tuna rice cakes, a green acres roll, and paradise roll. I'm decently new to eating raw fish but I loved the crispy spicy tuna rice cakes. They were loaded with tuna, had a great crunch, and a pleasant spicy kick. The green acres roll was full of good flavor from the veggies and sweet chili glaze, but was even better with the wasabi and soy sauce. As for the vibe it was great! The restaurant is small which allows for quality service, and short wait time for food. My waitress was the sweet red head (I forgot her name) she provided amazing service and was super easy to talk to. 10/10 would recommend. read more

Food was incredible. Very generous sized rolls and also very good service. They are having some growing pains as a new restaurant so you need a little patience but I suspect it will just get better. read more

I would love to leave an honest review about the restaurant and food but considering we attempted to dine here tonight but were denied a table, I am unable. We were informed that they don't take walk-ins anymore. It kinda would have been nice if they had posted that on their website instead of us planning on eating here tonight and being turned away because of a new rule they just implemented in the past few weeks. I guess they aren't hungry for business because the restaurant was only half full but they aren't taking walk-ins. read more

If I was just rating the food it would be a 5/5! Everything we ate on the menu was incredible! If you're looking for fresh flavorful fish, this place is for you. The price is worth it and really not bad! I can't wait to come back and try more. The service was also wonderful. All staff was attentive and working hard. We loved our server Savannah and appreciated her recommendation of the hamachi tacos. However, they are definitely still working out the kinks. We had a reservation, but had to wait over 20 mins for our table. It seemed most people with reservations had to wait. They were apologetic and served us drinks while we waited. They do have a nice waiting area with plenty of seating. After we were seated everything was going amazing until my main role. It came out about 30-40 mins after my husband's ramen which made it so we didn't actually get to eat together. The mains also took quit a while, in total we were there for almost 2 hours. I will say that they were aware of the long wait and comped our miso soup which was really appreciated. I would say on the weekends come with patience and don't expect to get out quickly. It was their first night with reservations so I am sure the next time we are back this will be improved. read more

Bravo Nama Sake! I've eaten at some of what I consider to be the finest sushi bars from Orange County all the way up to San Francisco (where I lived for 18 years) considering myself somewhat of a self-proclaimed sushi connoisseur of sort. Nama Sake is right up there with some of the finest in quality. It's a well-appointed establishment with very friendly, knowledgeable & attentive servers. But in the end, it's really about quality and from my experience, Nama Sake is top-notch & second to none in Chico. You will not be disappointed & if you have an indecisive palate, just ask your server & they will steer you in the right direction. read more

Only giving two stars because the sushi was delicious but.........yikes 1. Took us an hour and a half to get our sushi 2. Forgot about our edamame and we had to point it out they didn't even realize or apologize 3. We were celebrating 2 birthdays didn't come back to ask if we wanted more drinks, didn't acknowledge birthday or bring desserts 4. Restaurant was not even full... practically empty..... Sad because it was a birthday and the sushi was delicious but the service was not great read more

My husband and I visited last night, 4/12, for my birthday. We had such a lovely time. The most notable thing was that the service was SEAMLESS. Outstanding service. Everyone was so friendly and wished me happy birthday. Our waters were filled promptly and empty plates were taken away quickly. The food came out so quickly! We got the gyoza, California roll, shrimp tempura roll, and a few other rolls that I forgot the name of. Everything was delicious! Our server even brought me a complimentary green tea ice cream which was so good and a perfect palate cleanser. Overall we had a great time and I truly appreciate everyone for making it a lovely birthday dinner! We will DEFINITELY be back again! read more

We called right at opening to make a reservation for 7pm, and thank god we did cause this place was PACKED. We got seated right away. There was 6 of us, and we all ordered appetizers and rolls. The spicy edamame was really good, and we all tried each others sushi rolls. There was not a single bad one, all 6 of the rolls were BOMB. The only caveat is how busy it is. It makes the noise levels equivalent to a sports bar, and the music didn't really match the vibe. Service was great, food was great. You can't really ask for more. Not the type of place you go to on a whim, but I will most definitely be making another reservation for the near future!!!! read more

The service and atmosphere was amazing. The food left a little more wanting for me. I personally like rolls focused more on raw fish and light ingredients instead of spicy mixes and fried items. Nonetheless, food was also solid. Rolls and nigiri were not super heavy on rice (a good thing) and balanced the fish well. read more
