BEST NEW RESTAURANT IN MONTREAL The restaurant has two menu, Omakase and a la carte. Omakase is 14 services, chef's choice and the menu will change periodically... We tried the Omakase menu and let me tell you, it was a wild ride. The menu alternates between nigiris and small creations, generally japanese but some dishes are clearly french, some are a fusion. The progression alternates between japanese subtle flavours and bold french tastes. The contrasts somehow harmonizes very well. Special mentions: Tartare: fresh, tangy, salty and crispy, a masterclass of contrating textures and tastes. Suzuki: had some yuzu in it, somehow the yuzu flavour blew up as you eat it and lingered the whole time, very nice contrast. Wagyu: amazing brioche, balsamic reduction, soft melting wagyu and crispy garlic, wow, perfect combination. Monaka: a thin wafer filled rice at the bottom topped with tuna tartare, pickled daikon, garnished with egg yolk gel and wasabi. Something absolutely new for me delicious, and so original. Chutoro: my favorite nigiri of the night, it had a thin slice of pickled daicon on top of the fish, brushed with soy sauce. Umami bomb with some sour notes, wow. This was a very simple twist but it was most impactful to me. Sweet shrimp: sweet, soft and topped with crunchy bit (garlic I think) again nice contrast of textures. Mazemen: a brothless ramen infused with Shrimp flavour, inside out and all over. If you love shrimp this one will please you, this one was almost my favorite dish of the night, it was so close... TOMATO: More than meets the eye. Tomato sorbet topped with tomato foam and garnished with tomato dust. Sweet tomato, savory tomato, with tomato umami dust. All tomato, nothing but tomato. I recommend eating this each component separately, then two at time in different combinations, then all three. each combination will evoke a different taste sensation. Sometimes it tasted like pasta sauce, then ketchup then tomato soup, etc... this dish will bring to bear a lot of the tomato flavours in your memory. And yet it is none of those things, it's just magic! It's creative, simple and bold and nuanced. BEST DISH OF THE NIGHT. I can't wait to go back when they change the menu :)

I was amazed at how good this place is. One of the best omakase experiences I've ever been to. The food was stellar, our chef GaCong was very nice! Great ambiance, nice music that wasn't too loud and it was upbeat Would definitely come again!

Shared with our waiter that I have gluten and dairy allergy, he check with the chef on what I could eat. This was the best sushi experience flavor and service!!! I felt like I was eating at a Michelin restaurant. The most divine flavors, the best meal I've had! The garden salad was crispy from the root veggies and the rice puffs, with a tangy vinaigrette dressing. The scallops were perfectly pairs with the sauce, avocado, and pomegranate WHAT??? And lastly the sushi roll, with bluefin toro, Japanese whitefish, and salmon, spicy aioli and soy wraps, so freaking good which I could go every day

The best, and I literally mean THE BEST Omakase experience I've had. Chef GaCong made sure that me and my SF had a memorable anniversary. The twist on each dish really made it one of their own. The attention to detail and the flavor combinations are outstanding. Each dish made us crave for more. It felt like we had to be extra delicate with each piece because they looked like literal art. We want to thank the staff and chef for this beautiful and unique culinary experience. We will be back!

First time trying omakase and it was a great experience. Top notch quality. Shoutout to chef GaCong. He was super friendly and made me feel very welcome.

Server was nice even though at some point he was just standing there and we were waiting for him to come back to order dessert to the point where u actually had to call him but this was nothing truly. Lamb with sweet garlic sauce Filet mignon with five peppercorn and cognac sauce Key lime pie The meat was great, truly. The sauces? a total disgrace / turn off considering the price of each plate. Sweet garlic, had nothing I could say I feel the garlic in at all. Flavorless. Five pepercorn with cognac non existent ! The only time i taste the peppercorn was if I BIT the actual peppercorn. The dessert ? I ate 2 bites and left the entire thing. The "crust" was nowhere to be found it was watered down carton... and the lime layer felt like I was biting into fake jelly. I have nothing else to say but you can decide how you spend your money. The "fancy" restaurant leaves a lot to desire.

Then I'd never had sticky toffee pudding before, so I had that for dessert. Yummy! My waitress was fantastic! Even though I was alone, she made me feel welcome, and even though there was a lot of French going on in the restaurant, we spoke English together easily. It's in a very nice neighborhood, Outremont, which is worth walking around in. My only complaint would be because they have a lovely open air terrace, I was being bugged by bugs. Flies and maybe gnats. I know there's nothing much they can do about it, but still. I imagine in winter, this wouldn't be a problem.

The host was welcoming and friendly, but unfortunately, we didn't have the same experience with our server. They weren't very warm or attentive and never came back to check on us, ask how the food was, or see if we needed anything. It felt like the customer service was lacking. The French toast absolutely lives up to its reputation and did not disappoint. The caviar eggs Benedict was just okay. The pancakes that accompanied the caviar were too soggy, which took away from the dish. Overall, I would come back to try the dinner menu because the atmosphere and some of the food were great. I just hope the customer service is more attentive next time.

Our waitresses recommendations were fire. We enjoyed: Complementary bread: it was soft on inside and appropriately crunchy but not overly so on the outside. Plus two huge pieces cut into 4 pieces individually. Beef tartare: at 20 cad it was a little pricy for how much you got but the taste was great and I'm a fan of comte cheese. Plus it didn't have capers which imo overwhelms tartares. Duck with carrot: as a Chinese person I've had my share of duck but this might be the best duck I've ever had in my life. The texture and cook on it was awesome! First it came with three pieces of breast. It was the perfect cook, not over like most of the places I've had duck. Then the leg had the perfect crispy fatty skin to meat ratio. Yum yum this is a can't miss dish here Burger: husband got this. I took a bite. It had a nice smoke to it and was perfectly medium rare. I was too distracted by my duck to analyze it further. Raspberry jelly for dessert: as the waitress had mentioned, it was light and a perfect sweet but tart bite. Was great! Would come here again, we had l'express earlier in this trip and place carmin blows that place out of the water.

It arrives right when you sit, and immediately sets the tone for the meal. Next came the choice of soup or salad, and honestly, both were perfection. I could have bathed in my soup it was that good. For my appetizer, I had the black pudding croquettes with a pear sauce that was simply divine, and for the main, the bison flank steak was cooked beautifully--tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. My partner's meal was equally special, with each dish showing the same level of care and precision. We went to Joe Beef the very next night, and while it has a reputation, Le Pegase absolutely blew it out of the water. The vibe is cozy, homey, and welcoming--just the right balance of warmth and refinement. Every detail, from the food to the service to the atmosphere, makes this place a must-visit. I cannot recommend it enough. Le Pegase doesn't just meet expectations--it exceeds them in every way.

BEST "BYOB" FRENCH BISTRO DURING RECENT TRIP…read more This is the best dining experience in our recent Montreal trip. I'm glad we made reservation since the place was quite packed when we arrived. To be honest, our first impression wasn't too great. We were seated in their main indoor dining area which was a bit too warm. We asked if we can be moved to their fully covered / heated patio area, but unfortunately the restaurant was full. Fast forward 15 minutes, we have placed our order and were enjoying our bottle of wine and a basket of bread. Our server came over and offered to move us to the patio area since a table had opened up. We were pleasantly surprised because (1) we didn't ask again and (2) most restaurants wouldn't change tables once customers started eating/drinking. The restaurant setting is unpretentious with a casual and cozy vibes. The staff are so friendly that we feel like having a family dinner! They offer a pre-fixe menu in which we thoroughly enjoyed! For appetizers, the escargot dish gave us a pleasant surprise. They wrapped the escargots and blue cheese sauce in a thin crispy crust! It's hard to describe, but it's sort of like having an escargot "crepe"! The few main courses we chose were excellent, and the rack of lamb was probably our favorite - tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked. As for dessert, their creme brulee was one of the best I've had - creamy custard topped with a perfect, crisp caramel top. I'd highly recommend this place, and will certainly visit again when I'm in town next time!

We were seated at a lovely table for two by a window. The service at first was a bit slow, but that was understandable given how busy the restaurant was. Our server, Yan, was incredibly personable. He had excellent suggestions for dinner. We each started with cocktails, and enjoyed the ambiance. There was a live band, but we were in a different room. It wasn't loud like you would expect. 5/5 service. Beef Tartare: 5/5. This was an excellent start. The appetizer sizing was a little small for two people. I do recommend making a reservation on open table prior to coming. Here is what I think of the food: Seasoning is generally saltier but not too overly. Escargot or the snails is yummy. It comes with the option of cheese on top. Dressed heavy with olive oil and garlic. They remove the shell so it makes it approachable if you were nervous about trying. Cheese & Charcuterie board is as what you imagined. It can't go wrong. Rack of Lamb was good. I do recommend highly. It comes with our 4-5 bones worth of protein with potatoes & veggies. Lost track of how many bones because it was eaten so fast. Duck confit was average. Let me explain, duck was average but the amount of spinach I gotten and how potatoes on the plate was good. Sides out shine the protein here. Side of Foie Gras was perfect because I was worried about having too much food. It did come on a small plate because it's a side dish and it was fatty and salty. Intermission was the best cocktail of the night. Fruity with a star anise on top so you smell it while drinking it because it was so close to your nose. Jazz District was okay. Overall, I do think this restaurant site fairly between 4&5 stars. Do try it. I would come back for special occasions and it's not an every night meal.
