Small and efficient, but not delicious. No sushi, some rolls but only a single fish each. No specialty rolls. Poke bowl $21. We ordered two spicy tuna hand rolls $7 which had a weird spice - cumin? I don't know but they were not good. We also got the salmon cut roll $10.50 and yellowtail cut roll $12.50. They use warm rice in the rolls which was odd and a rolling machine to make the rolls. We won't be back.

Is this fast food sushi? Yes. Is this in the food court at the Rio hotel & casino? Yes. Is this good tasting sushi? Yes! I was staying at the Rio and wanted to give this a shot, and I was not disappointed. The menu is limited and the service is great. I went there a total of 3 times during my stay and I enjoyed every time. The Yellow Tail roll was my favorite. They charge extra for the rolls that are cut, but the uncut rolls can be a little tricky to eat without making a mess.

So glad that I found this place! I'm a pretty tough critic when it comes to Sushi and I saw this place and the sushi is very reasonably priced and super fresh not to mention how accommodating the employees were to us. Just an all around vibe with this place. The two people that were working who were just incredibly sweet were Heidi and Robert! We will definitely be coming back to this place when we visit again!

I come here every time I'm in Vegas! They have the freshest most well put together omakase style lunch experience. Honestly, in a different setting, they would convince me to pay even triple the price because that's how tasty the sushi is every time I come I see a lot of Vegas locals so you know it's the perfect go to spot. I watched like 10+ people order the sushi poke bowl however I always like to get the royal flush since I like variety. Being a Maryland girl myself the blue crab is my absolute favorite. It is extremely fresh and meaty. They did a great job incorporating true crab flavor into sushi.

We stopped here for lunch while waiting for our room to become available. There were a number of people there so looked promising. We ordered a California roll and Spicy tuna roll. Hands down some of the worst sushi I've ever had. The California roll was tolerable with enough ginger but my neither my husband or I could eat the spicy tuna roll. It had a very weird flavor to it. Just hoping we aren't having stomach issues later. Seriously the sushi at Sam's club tastes better.

The hand rolls were delicious the sashimi was great the price was affordable. The service was excellent along with sitting area. The food court is a must good. They did a great job transforming this into a food hall. It had great vibes wish they were busier but it's a must go. I think over time it will get busier. It's a great concept and great for locals. I definitely will go back.

SAKANA IS SIMPLY THE BEST!…read more Sakana has officially become our ABSOLUTE FAVORITE sushi restaurant, and for good reason! Their all-you-can-eat menu is loaded with an incredible variety, so there's always something delicious to try. As someone who prefers sushi without rice, I especially appreciate their no-rice options! They may only have two no-rice rolls, but their seafood salad with assorted fish and cucumber is SO delicious, and their Jalapeño Bomb is an absolute MUST every single visit! Their nigiri is also fantastic--the rice-to-fish ratio is perfect, allowing the fresh fish to shine without being overwhelmed by rice! One of my favorite things is that they offer full or half rolls on most of their sushi selections, making it easy to try even more of their amazing menu. Add in their huge selection of appetizers, including edamame, and there's no shortage of options to keep your taste buds happy! And PLEASE, whatever you do, SAVE ROOM FOR DESSERT! Their fried banana with ice cream is my go-to every single time. It's the perfect sweet ending to an already incredible meal! But what truly makes Sakana special is the staff. The food is amazing, the selection is fantastic, and the people make the entire experience that much better. You can have great sushi anywhere, but when you combine delicious food with genuinely wonderful service, you have something special. Sakana isn't just our favorite sushi spot anymore--it's THE sushi spot we compare everyone else to! If you haven't been, you're seriously missing out!

The best AYCE in Vegas!…read more I would recommend getting nigiri due to the fish to rice ratio. Service is hit or miss best to go as early as possible. This is the best place to take your special someone on a date.

They offer all-you-can-eat for around $35, which honestly seems like a great deal if you can put down some sushi , but we knew we wouldn't eat enough to make it worth it, so we opted to order à la carte instead. We started with the pork belly, which was actually the only thing we didn't care for, so we ended up sending that back. Everything after that, though, was SO good. The garlic spicy salted edamame was delicious and such a good way to start. We also tried several of their all-day specials--the yellowtail carpaccio, crunchy onion albacore, and seared bluefin tuna--and all three were delicious. Normally the specials are limited to one per person with AYCE, but since we were ordering à la carte, we could order however many we wanted. For rolls, I got the A Little Tease Roll and really enjoyed it. My husband got the Call 911 roll, and judging by how quickly it disappeared, I'd say he loved his too . My son kept it simple with a California roll and a cup of rice, which worked perfectly for him. We also shared a lychee nigiri, one of my favorites, and it was super yummy. The ambiance is probably one of my favorite things about this place. It's really fun and feels like somewhere you could come for a date night, but it's still completely comfortable for families. It would also be a great spot to come with a group. The surrounding area looks a little sketchy, so don't let that throw you off. Once you walk inside, it seriously feels like you've been transported somewhere completely different. The restaurant itself is really nice and has such a fun vibe. Definitely recommend checking this place out and trying some of their different sushi rolls and specials. Everything we had (minus the pork belly ) was BOMB. Next time we're in Vegas, we'll absolutely come back and try some more!

We decided to sit at the sushi bar, which turned out to be a great choice. It gave us the opportunity to interact with the chef and watch him prepare everything right in front of us. You could immediately tell how talented and experienced he was just by watching his knife skills and the care he put into every dish. We started with the Albacore Tuna, cut into six beautiful slices. It was incredibly tender and practically melted in our mouths. It was so good that we ate it before we even thought about taking a picture! I ended up finding a photo of it on TARU's website because it deserved to be included. Next, we had a Salmon Roll, and then we decided to put ourselves in the chef's hands and asked him to make us a Chef's Surprise. He prepared a beautiful plate featuring four different types of fish, and this time we remembered to take a picture! Everything was fresh, beautifully presented, and delicious. To finish the evening, the chef surprised us with a dessert of fresh oranges with a touch of liqueur. It was light, refreshing, and the perfect ending to a wonderful meal. What really made the evening memorable was the combination of excellent sushi and the personal experience at the sushi bar. Our chef was cordial, engaging, and clearly very talented at his craft. If you enjoy high-quality sushi and are looking for a special experience while in Las Vegas, TARU is definitely worth a visit. We would absolutely go back!

Had no trouble getting 7pm reservations for 2 on a Friday. First time coming to this restaurant,…read morewhich is located next to Sparrow & Wolf. Easy parking in the plaza. We started our meal off with some spicy garlic edamame, seaweed salad, and the Taru prawns. Thr first two dishes were good representations of what they should be. The prawns were lightly fried and of good size. The dipping sauce that came with it was very subtle and light. Our main courses were the uni pasta, which came in a good portion size and contained lobster and salmon bits in addition to the uni. My wife enjoyed it and nibbled at it while I awaited my entree. I ordered the 20 piece sashimi sampler. While the tuna, yellowtail, hamachi, salmon, and red snapper all tasted very fresh, I probably would have went in another direction had I known it would take 30+ minutes to receive. I felt bad for my wife waiting to ear her dish. The server was very apologetic for the delay and offered miso soup and a shot of a fruity sake drink while we waited. The entire staff was very welcoming and attentive throughout the meal.

The service was amazing and was helpful in figuring out what we should order. The Sakura box was a highlight for me although it was very expensive. The sweet shrimp is something I haven't tried before but it was delicious and marinated perfectly. The grilled unagi roll wasn't that special for me but it was still good. The sashimi here was excellent and were generously cut portions. Definitely get the Sashimi platter if you are into sashimi. We also ordered the uni pasta, although not pictured, and found it to be tasty but I wouldn't order it again. It is worth trying at least once since it's unique. The sashimi (Hamachi) is also amazing and is the best yellowtail I've had at a US restaurant.

Chef Shuji runs the restaurant with his wife next to him in the kitchen. The fish here is flown in from Japan and of the highest quality as you can see from the sheen and fat marbling. The tuna melts in your mouth and bite after bite is a wonderful experience as you pair it with soy sauce, fresh Wasabi, yuzu Wasabi, or some combination of the condiments provided. This is also the first sushi restaurant I have ever been to that automatically brings out fresh Wasabi without having to ask. The portions are generous and we left feeling very satisfied. Even though we were very full, we took a look at the dessert menu. Not pictured here is a sweet potato with ice cream and brown sugar glaze. This dish on the menu was unassuming but the taste was so decadent. Quite possibly the best and sweetest sweet potato I have ever tasted. The chef slowly roasts them over a 2 hour period, rotating the potatoes every so slightly every 15 minutes. The sweet potato could be a dessert by itself, it was that good! Chef Shuji is a charming and funny host. He regularly comes out to greet his customers and makes sure they are enjoying their meal, very high-touch. If you know Japanese - even if it's just a few phrases, speak with him as he will be delighted. He was absolutely tickled when we said arigato and he shared that he is originally from Kyoto. Cannot wait to return to Shigotonin!
