We went there for dinner because they could make vegetarian dishes by substituting tofu and veggies in place of meat. The service and staff was nice but the food was not up to our expectations. We ordered Tom yum soup with veggies and the pieces of asparagus and one other veggie were not cooked. I ate it and ended up spitting raw (undercooked) asparagus on my plate. Giat cheese empanada were OK, but when we ordered Pad Thai noodles with veggies and tofu, there were barely 5 or 6 super tiny pieces of tofu in it and hardly any beggies. We understand that the taste of the food differs from one country to other so for us the noodles were too salty which we can deal with it, but we did not feel like it was Pad Thai noodles we were eating. Must be a popular place amongst non- vegetarians because the customers were coming and the place was almost full but did not work for us. read more

Nice place, not particularly authentic but will satisfy my cravings. I got the shrimp salad with mangoes and orange papaya topped with a fish sauce dressing- the dressing was sweet yet savory, pretty good but seems they use the recipe of fish sauce over many of their dishes. There should be different versions to compliment different dishes. My honey got the pad Thai it was different from how I have ever had it but it was good enough to satisfy a starving man. The two little spoons of glass noodles and fish sauce is a nice touch, thanks chef! The servers were nice. Location was clean, would eat here again! I want to try the pho !! read more

Beautiful restaurant in the heart of Leblon. Not cheap. Not that expensive either. The Pad Thai was pretty good, and so were most of the appetizers. The curry, was also very good from what my companions told me. I would venture to say this is probably some of the best Thai food you can find in Rio. Service was good. Today is Saturday, we were in the mood for Thai food. Because of the Covid-19 you can only order with iFood or pick up at the restaurant. We ordered one porco curry vermelho, one camaroes abacaxi. Total $154 réis. We waited 20 minutes and picked up our food. The lunch wasn't cheap nor was it well executed. The portions were quite small, they both came in exactly the same watery liquid, one with the pork, one with the shrimp and pineapple. There was no vegetables or herbs. My shrimp were mushy which was disgusting. Maybe the restaurant is closing, it appears so? I know it's covid-19 but I've been cooking 3 times a day, we were really looking forward to a yummy Thai meal but this was pathetic and overpriced. We've been to Thailand and crave Thai food at LEAST once a week and wow we LOVED the food here! The service was amazing and they did a great job in helping us choose vegetarian dishes for my husband and me! It was very modern, fresh and healthy! The 4 small plate dessert was SOSOOSOSO good! I'm a super fan of Thai cuisine. When I moved to Brazil I made my quest to find a place with authentic Thai. That was not easy, as it seems that Brazilians in general don't like much spicy food. I found many restaurants that called themselves Thai but in reality they are Brazilian with Thai influence. Meaning, they're not really thai, and don't expect to find most typical dishes. Nam Thai was the first restaurant in Brazil that I found having a wide variety of authentic thai dishes. Service tends to be slow but food is good. Food here is very good. The staff were accommodating to myself and my wife as vegetarians. Great selection of drinks. And the staff were very polite and friendly. I can't say for a certainty however perhaps if your a meat eater your rating of this restaurant would be even higher as their selection is quite large. The inside design is really cool as well. I really enjoy the art and the details they put into the ambiance. LeBlond is rad as well. We were in the mood for Thai food and ask the concierge at the Marriott to recommend a place. She said the best in the city was Nam. We got in a waiting cab by the front door for the trip over to Leblon. It only took a few minutes for us to get there. It was in a nice neighborhood with other restaurants and clubs and it looked good from the outside. I was lost looking at the menu, but my Portuguese speaking Wife saved the day. Our meals were very good and they supplied extra chili sauce as I love spicy food. We will go here again when in Rio. And yes, the food is a little pricey compared to what we spend on Thai food at home. I am holding back a star because of the prices. But, it was very good just the same. read more

Nice thai food in Rio. On the whole we felt it a little light on the flavour side as compared to other thai restaurants. Just a little shy on the Basil and Lemon grass side of things. But that said we enjoyed our meal. We had Basil chicken rice dish and a beef sesame oil and broccoli. Bother were very good. We also had a nice lemonade or raspberry lemonade, that was winner. Recommend beef with broccoli. Even a non beef lover I like their beef a lot! The green curry is good too. The chef can make it as spicy as you want. Even if the chef is not Thai, but these two dishes can pass my native Thai standard. A rare good Thai find outside of the states. Whenever I travel, Thai seems to be a weakness but this restaurant was great. On a whole I find service in South America to be very weak but this place has service on par with any good restaurant in a top world city as well. Waiters are very attentive, explain everything, and helpful to a fault. We got the appetizer sampler and chicken samosas which were all incredible. The scallops and chicken satay in the sampler were standouts. We had a chicken massuman curry and a beef pineapple type curry as well; both of which were outstanding. All of the above food easily got 3 people comfortably satisfied. The food here is a bit pricey for Thai but high quality food and service for RJ. Would think twice about stopping by again due to price but worth a look if you are in the neighborhood. read more

The restaurant is just off a main thoroughfare in the downtown Leblon district of Rio de Janeiro...just far enough to add a touch of distance from the din but close enough to know you're still in the thick of it. Doesn't feel like Thai has a major presence in Rio so good fortune helped us stumble across this place on a Sunday night. I immediately got a nice vibe upon entry, tranquil decor and the host/waiter spoke English tentatively but with a smile...the smile truly makes all the difference. The smile signifies awareness of that which is most important and was happily reflected in both the ambiance and the tastiness of the food. We tried a variety of items and all were delicious. Most of what we had was typical but each dish had something new and unique. The Vietnamese spring rolls contained lemon grass so fresh it felt as though we had just sprinkled some L zest on our lips. The chicken curry was sweet with just a hint of heat and a muted layer of basil tucked away beneath its creamy yumness that only popped up just in time before being swallowed. And yes, the least adventurous of all offerings, pad Thai, is what I ordered and would have been perfectly happy with gramps's good old standard serving, but instead it was a perfectly cooked noodle with plenty of shrimp accompanied by toasted tofu strips, sautéed cabbage, mint leaves, and a fresh lime wedge that brought the party to the plate. It was marvelous, even after I threw so much red pepper fire on it, I couldn't stop eating it, despite the pain. Awesome grub! The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was because I could faintly smell a hint of cleaning products somewhere far off. We were there past closing so I guess I'm playing dirty. read more
