I ordered a small bowl and it was a big portion. Toppings are an extra charge, individually priced, and come on the side. I chose bananas, toasted coconut, and honey. The acai bowl is sweet enough on its own, so honey isn't necessary, but the toasted coconut added a great texture. This is a great restaurant. Really great food and juice options here! From build your own salads to steak or chicken sandwiches to classic Brazilian chicken estroganofe, everyone found something they liked. To accompany our food, we each tried a different Brazilian fruit juice, and they were all delicious too! Acai Bowls for days. I think we fell in love with this place and just wanted to keep coming and coming everyday. Although there was a language barrier, we were definitely able to get our orders in and I was able to get my sandwich made exactly how I want it. We mainly came here for the acaci bowl. We had no idea that their bowls were super big and the service was quick as well. It was nice and refreshing. I love how they give you the fruits and nuts and other toppings on the side so you can incorporate it yourself. Oh back to my sandwich, it was so good. It definitely wasn't what I expect it when I ordered. It was something that looked like a calzone but not a calzone. I told them no cheese and added mushrooms and something else to it. Anyhow I was in heaven since so many things involves cheese the last few days I was cheese out and looking for something without and they were able to deliver despite not speaking the language. You chose your size (glass, small bowl or large bowl) then add your toppings, like granola, fruit, nuts or tapioca, each of them about $1. Then you chose whether you want your toppings separate or mixed in. I chose mixed in, a mistake in retrospect because they either blended my banana and granola into the purée or omitted them. We ate at BiBi a few times while in Rio as it was right around the corner from our hotel. They have an interesting mix of things to eat. The acai bowl was as good as any I've ever had. Not too sweet, and lots of acai flavor. None of the typical soupy consistency either. It stayed frozen until I was finished, or at least until I mixed in the honey/strawberries/granola. The small size is plenty for one person, but if you're really craving a big serving, the larger option would still be a good deal. The only reason I'm not rating it 5 stars is that the sides weren't all that amazing. I know, you don't get an acai bowl because of the granola, but tasty honey more fruit choices, and quality granola would really push this place over the top, in my opinion. I'll also echo what was said on another review here. If you don't speak Portuguese, expect a bit of a language barrier (Tigela means "bowl" for starters). My brother and I came here twice in the three days that we were in Rio. It's sort of surfer-themed with indoor and outdoor seating. When you first walk in, the server will ask if you want the English menu then they will show you how to order the 5- or 7- item breakfast. You have to get their attention if you want to order, or the bill and one of the servers will come right away. I didn't have a problem with the service at all, I guess they just don't smile that much. They were accommodating and patient despite us not speaking Portuguese and we communicated through some English words and hand gestures. I ordered the acai baby with granola and even ordered it to go. The tapioca with cheese and dates was...interesting. Tapioca is better suited for sweet rather than savory fillings.
