    Sashimi bento bowl $R 50
    Julie N.

Okay wow. Super chill and quiet spot in Copacabana. The sushi is so good. We got the lunch bento bowls. U can choose sashimi or nigiri as the main part of the dish. We got one if each the sides were so good from the baked egg to the stewed daikon/mushroom. Highly recommend

if you are looking for decent japanese food from a family run restaurant in the Zona Sul area, check this place out. Its not one of those modern fusion fancy places. they stick to traditional simple good food. Area is small, so either go early if you are big group, or be ready to wait in line. They are only open for dinner. They have around 4-5 rooms for groups, which is nice if you want something a bit more private. there is a cover charge per person for the room (R$15). If not, there are tables in the downstairs space - around maybe 6-7, max 10. and you can sit at the mini bar area. They have traditional items, and menus in english, portuguese and japanese. I will say that service in the room areas is a bit slow, merely for the fact that once they bring in the food, no one comes back in to check up on you to see if you need anything more. So, we had to open and get out and look for the staff. If you seat at the tables, service is faster as the waiters are usually all around. Additionally, if you are looking for green tea ice cream for dessert....they dont have it.

Definitely a decent sushi place with friendly staff, but not a fantastic sushi quality. Also, it's a bit pricey, compared to what you get.

The authentic Japanese Restaurant owned and operated by a Japanese. Thus, the best in Rio de Janeiro. Loved this place.

This was the most decently rated Japanese restaurant near our location, so we decided to check it out. The first time we went, we ordered a sampler platter that included 35 pieces of nigiri, including 8 pieces of sashimi, 4 of which were salmon and 4 of which were tuna (35 pieces in total). It is a $32-33 USD platter, so it wasn't a bad deal at all! Check out the attached picture to see what was in the sushi platter. The fish was pretty fresh, and the salmon skin roll was really good too. Deep fried-philly roll was a pleasant surprise too. Overall, I'd rate the platter a 3.5/5. We also ordered a side dish of the vegetable tempura (tempura de legumes), which was about $11-12 USD. The vegetables were not breaded in panko or traditional tempura batter, which was a little disappointing. The tempura sauce it was served it wasn't all that great either. I'd rate this dish about a 2/5. After our drinks, our total came about to about $50 USD for lunch, which wasn't all that bad, I suppose. The second time we went, we decided to order a couple different dishes, and I think we should have just stuck to our original order. We got a full order of the seafood combo yakisoba (about $16-17 USD), and it wasn't very good at all. The sauce the yakisoba was in was rather salty and it felt like they just used regular ramen noodles to cook the dish. The shrimps were frozen from a bag and the calamari were small and chewy. I'd rate this dish a 1.5-2 out of 5. Luckily, we got the deep-fried Philly roll on the side too (about $10 USD) which salvaged our meal. This deep-fried Philly roll was really good. I'd rate it about a 3.5/5. Anyway, we weren't too thrilled with the overall quality of the food at Rio, and our experience at Botekim do Japa was pretty on par with the whole food experience during our vacation. Pretty average Japanese food, but nothing to get too excited about. I wish we could have found a better place to eat, but we were just hungry those two times that we went and based our decision off of our geographical location. Overall, this place is a 2.5/5 in our books.
