There's probably something for every kind of cuisine out there. I was quite happy to find that they had a special flavor of Japanese rice seasoning I couldn't find at Hmart and other Asian stores. I also ended up getting lavender flowers and yuzu marmalade to enhance and go with my matcha tea. Prices were very reasonable, and the staff were very friendly. I'll definitely be back for some specialty items!

There are specialty spreads, sauces, nuts, beans, teas, etc. you can purchase as well. Speaking to the owner's son, he mentioned spices are purchased in the USA (that have been imported from other countries) and purchased directly from other countries as well. I visited this shop when it first opened maybe about 7-8 years ago. It was located near Christina's Homemade Icecream shop and didn't have as much stock. I'm so glad this establishment blossomed into a full spice library! One suggestion for the owners would be to label sections with spices by maybe country or curries vs marinades etc. I bought so many spices since we are never in the area. My purchases ranged from Thai green curry spice mix to goghugaru chilli flakes. What a delightful visit I had and I even picked up a few gifts for friends too!

I came for an initial consult and have been following up every month or so. The owner is a very relaxed, calming presence. For the consult he listened to my pulse and checked my skin & tongue. From there he can see what's going on in your body and how to fix & prevent symptoms. The herbal remedies he has provided so far have been beneficial for me. To be honest, I was pretty nervous that he was able to sense my high stress the first time I met him... but once he heard my pulse, he knew what I was going through and was really helpful. The consult itself is no cost, but you purchase the herbal medicines. For me, he recommended capsules since that's what my body would respond best to. For others, he can brew the herbs so you can take in a liquid form - which absorbs faster too. Everyone is different, so what's recommended for me won't be the same for others. Pricing for remedies differs. Depending on what's prescribed, it can go from $5-$60. There is also a language barrier since I don't speak Chinese, but he had the google translate app! If you're curious about Chinese herbal medicine, I would definitely recommend trying Shing Hong Trading out.

I immediately recognized the brand because I've seen their saffron sugar sold at diesel cafe in Davis square. Browsing around, the guy working there was quick to help me navigate the store since I had nothing in mind except to wander around. Very helpful - he gave me a few complimentary recipes using ingredients I had mentioned that I liked. I was super curious about their Persian ingredients, especially to compare pricing from the Persian markets in Watertown. Yes, Curio is more expensive, but their quality is high. They had zereshk (barberries), limoo (whole dried lemons), adiveh (spice blend that I bought), and honestly so much more that I wish I had the time to list off. Overall beautiful selection of spices, I can see this being a go-to place for me to use in my own cooking and to buy as gifts for others. Other highlights - their chocolate selection! So many unique chocolates from around the world. I went home with a Vietnamese chocolate that was flavored with pho spices & a Hungarian chocolate of caramelized lavender & anise. So aromatic and lovely! They have pop-up events every so often and in-person & virtual classes. If you're a foodie & enjoy cooking, this place is definitely a place to check out.
