This is located down the stairs in a basement across from famous Faneuil Hall in historic Boston. They have a wide selection of sauces, rubs, salsa and seasonings. The staff was friendly and helpful. Um, stupid... My son "loves" hot sauce. For Christmas, his girlfriend bought him a Hot Sauce sampler set of various hot sauces. So it made sense to take a tour around pepper palace. It's a few steps down from the street but once you enter, you're in hot sauce heaven. (Wait a second, anything hot would mean...) There's a few Bloody Mary mixes, salsa's, ketchups and sauces. Me, I'm not sampling anything but just browsing with my family. My wife decided to buy a gift for my son. The cashier says, this hot sauce is nice but the really hot stuff is in the fridge. You'll need to sign a waiver before you try this stuff. My son is like, gimme the pen! So, him and his girlfriend slather this stuff on a cracker. Then they take a big... bite. I wanted to get a sampler pack for a pepperhead who would be taking it on a plane. What to do? Where to go? The store I got the idea at nearly a year ago no longer carried it among their stock and so I was lost. My sister reminded me of this store in Faneuil Hall Marketplace. Oh yeah! I've passed by many a time, but as a nonspicy person, it didn't really stick, but was just part of the background. Well, Pepper Palace to the rescue! I found one sampler set that fit the bill on one of their two shelves of TSA approved product. Sadly, it wasn't a local product, but beggars can't be choosers! It turns out that much of their wares are privately bottled by them. So I wish they'd get on the ball and take advantage of the niche of TSA sized sampler packs. They also carry the more popular hot sauces that their customer base inquires about. Samples abound with warnings to not double dip. It was a one man shop at the time I stopped by, and he was friendly enough. They carry not only sauces, but spice mixes and salsas. PP is located below ground level, reachable only by descending an exterior flight of stairs. They are a small store on the side of the Quincy Market. Check for the sign that leads to the stairs to go downstairs into the shop. Big collection of spices, sauces and pickled vegetables. I love hot sauces and ghost pepper is my favorite. Some of the sauces here are really hot!! So, try them at your own risk. Oh yes, you get to taste them, so enjoy! I asked the lady which is the hottest sauce and she pointed towards a small black bottle that said 'THE END'. Again, be careful with what you taste. It could be super hot/spicy. They had a buy 5 and get 1 free offer going on. However, I was looking for an assorted collection, which they ran out of. I was so looking forward to visiting the Pepper Palace. My friend who was visiting from overseas was specifically returning to the Palace in order to stock up on their sauces which is one of the highest ratings you could give a place. If you're willing to deal with the TSA over a hot sauce then it must be worth it. What dropped the rating for this place so heavily was the piss poor service. Imagine this: you're the only customers in the store. There are three employees, two younger ones jabbering away and an older one who sounded like a manager type. No one acknowledges you when you walk into their cramped store. Everyone continues talking as if you aren't there. They even talk around you as they move through the aisles. That was our experience. My friend, who had talked the place up like crazy, apologized for the horrid service. Have you ever heard of a customer apologizing on behalf of a store that obviously didn't care enough to begin with? It baffled me. Were the sauces good? Yes, they were quite tasty. You can taste basically everything this little dungeon of mouth pain sells. There's one sauce - The End. - that requires a waiver, and all others (even those which feature Carolina Reapers and Bhut Jolokias) are spicy but not outrageous. Not just hot sauces, ya see - shelves stocked with salsas, jams, jellies, BBQ sauces, chips, Damnation Popcorn (whatever that is) and more edibles of the spicy persuasion. Which I respect, lest we have that one cabinet that's full of unopened hot sauces because we like the label but will never find any reason for cracking the seal. To note: all of the sauces are made by Pepper Palace suppliers, so you won't find some of your particular indie favorites (ie, no Blair's 3am in sight), but that's okay because see the last paragraph. This place is so fun! They have tons of samples of hot sauces, various salsas, and buffalo sauces. It was a fun way to escape the cold and get a snack in after walking around downtown. There isn't any water though (that I saw at least) so be prepared to have your tongue burning if you venture into their hotter sauces. They provide well-salted tortilla chips for you to put the sauces on. They have a hot sauce so spicy you have to sign a waver, but neither my friend nor I were brave enough to try it. A lot of the sauces were ~$10 or more, which isn't bad if you're looking for an edible souvenir or if you fall in love with one of the sauces. I went here tonight and the employee that was working was completely unprofessional. When we came in she was on the phone, and stayed on the phone for the duration of our time in the store. She ignored me when I asked her a question about the hot sauces. I asked a second time and seemed annoyed when I asked her because that meant she had to get off the phone. Huge variety so if you can't find your hot sauce in grocery stores near you, I suggest trying here. It's a 2-4 dollars more than My go to store in Los Angeles, but if you can't find it around you then just suck it up. You can buy 5 and get one free too. There are little samples all around poured in an open container w chips near by And bottles of soda or water for purchase. It's nice to try, but I rather have been able to dab a little on a chip because the idea of people "double dipping" makes me rather not. Many novelty snacks were sold out too so that was a bummer. It reminded me of hot-sauce chemical lab, with bunch of hot sauces to sample and taste. They are organized by types of hot sauce. It had hot bbq sauces (blueberry infused hot sauce was surprisingly good), crowd favorite (as we were told) creamy garlic buffalo hot-wing sauces, bloody mary mix, salsa options, and just it goes on and on! Typically for a self-proclaimed hot sauce fanatic like myself, to encounter such the variety of hot sauces that pepper palace offers, I have to go on sketchy website that is most likely located half-way around the world and then I have to stalk the UPS guy for weeks waiting for my box of hot sauce to arrive. Luckily for me, glorious places like pepper palace exist! Located near Quincy Market, the drama of walking into pepper palace is only enhanced by walking down a flight of stairs and encountering the biggest bottle of hot sauce you will ever see in your life (granted its a statue). From there you walk into a massive space of the hottest and most burn-your-mouth (among other areas) selection of hot sauces and other products north of the Mason-Dixon line. From jalepeno hot sauces, to habanero hot sauces, to scotch bonnet hot sauces (my favorite), to light-your-insides-on-fire ghost chili hot sauces, pepper palace has it all. They also have many free samples to try before you buy. My only real gripe is their prices seem a little above average, but your paying for convenience and sensory overload. I've been ordering from pepper palace for quite a while now and really had good service. The last order it was way past the ETA of receiving the order so I decided to call in. Never heard anything. Then I went on to receive an email from some IT guy over there after I sent a followup email to them asking where my order was. They said they would ship it out ASAP. 2 days later I received a notification that it was being shipped. I asked for them to maybe throw something in for the inconvenience or maybe expedite the shipping. Never heard back and to the day I am still waiting on the order. read more

Holy hot sauce Batman! Pepper Palace definitely caters to the those with a love of all things spicy! The shop is stocked entirely with hot sauces, spices, spicy cooking sauces, spicy salsas, spicy condiments, spicy snacks & candies, spicy drink mixes, and gift baskets. You name it and Pepper Palace probably has it. Most of the items are available for sampling. (Sampling the hottest of the hot will require the signing of a waiver.) One downside to Pepper Palace is the prices; definitely on the expensive-side as I am sure they have a high overhead being located right in Quincy Market. Some of the hot sauces I was looking at were priced at $14 for a standard-sized bottle. One of the hottest sauces I ever messed with. No water taken, it lasted well over 20 minutes from just one tiny drop. Prices are a touch high but you're paying for quality not quantity. Located in Faneuil Hall next to Quincy Market, Pepper Palace is awesome for sauce lovers of all temperatures and flavors! There are seasonings, dry rubs, salsas, hot sauces, wing sauces and rib/BBQ sauces galore. They also carry various butters and jellies. Pepper Palace is based out of Sevierville, Tennessee. In the middle of the shop there are lots of sauces you can sample with tortilla chips or just put a dab on a plastic spoon and taste away! I appreciate that they do this because $9.95 and up for hot sauce isn't cheap. You are able to try a majority of them too. There were only a few I couldn't find in the sampling areas. The gentleman was very helpful in finding me a sweet but spicy sauce for someone as a Christmas gift. They have mild, hot, scorching hot, sweet, sweet & spicy, savory, smokey, etc. There isn't a mix you can't find! I'm so glad that we have one of these in Boston! If you like hot sauce, this is the place to go! There's not many other places like this around; I knew of one in Maine called 'Rock Lobster,' which was less commercial-feeling, but it either moved or closed. My favorite two things about this store: (1) the massive selection of hot sauces and (2) the ability to taste as many of the Pepper Palace branded sauces as you can muster. I wish you were able to taste every sauce in the store, but even though it is limited to their own brand, you are given the rare opportunity to try dozens of sauces without shelling out $5 - $20 a bottle just to find out that it's not your jam. I also wish this store sold fresh peppers (Ghost, Carolina Reaper, Trinidad Scorpion) and was more geared to the home hot-sauce maker, but it's still a lot of fun for a pepper-head. read more
