I came for an initial consult and have been following up every month or so. The owner is a very relaxed, calming presence. For the consult he listened to my pulse and checked my skin & tongue. From there he can see what's going on in your body and how to fix & prevent symptoms. The herbal remedies he has provided so far have been beneficial for me. To be honest, I was pretty nervous that he was able to sense my high stress the first time I met him... but once he heard my pulse, he knew what I was going through and was really helpful. The consult itself is no cost, but you purchase the herbal medicines. For me, he recommended capsules since that's what my body would respond best to. For others, he can brew the herbs so you can take in a liquid form - which absorbs faster too. Everyone is different, so what's recommended for me won't be the same for others. Pricing for remedies differs. Depending on what's prescribed, it can go from $5-$60. There is also a language barrier since I don't speak Chinese, but he had the google translate app! If you're curious about Chinese herbal medicine, I would definitely recommend trying Shing Hong Trading out.

Great selection of Chinese herbs, very helpful staff, my new source for Chinese medicine.read more

There are specialty spreads, sauces, nuts, beans, teas, etc. you can purchase as well. Speaking to the owner's son, he mentioned spices are purchased in the USA (that have been imported from other countries) and purchased directly from other countries as well. I visited this shop when it first opened maybe about 7-8 years ago. It was located near Christina's Homemade Icecream shop and didn't have as much stock. I'm so glad this establishment blossomed into a full spice library! One suggestion for the owners would be to label sections with spices by maybe country or curries vs marinades etc. I bought so many spices since we are never in the area. My purchases ranged from Thai green curry spice mix to goghugaru chilli flakes. What a delightful visit I had and I even picked up a few gifts for friends too!

There's probably something for every kind of cuisine out there. I was quite happy to find that they had a special flavor of Japanese rice seasoning I couldn't find at Hmart and other Asian stores. I also ended up getting lavender flowers and yuzu marmalade to enhance and go with my matcha tea. Prices were very reasonable, and the staff were very friendly. I'll definitely be back for some specialty items!

They also sell packaged teas and herbs!! I absolutely love the chai-based lattes here. The smoky vanilla chai (my ultimate fav) & red rooibos lattes are amazing!!!! Both are spicy and brimming with bold notes. I usually resort to getting one or the other when I don't feel like trying something new. I also love their London Fog drink. It's super classic and no frills. Their hojicha latte is interesting because it's roasted and earthy without being too overbearing. It was quite light! It's not something I'd get again, but it was a nice experience. I always order my drinks with soy or almond milk + light ice and it's perfect. :- ) Their tea lattes are usually around $5.50-ish (plus the milk substitution). My co-workers love their cream sodas which is something I have yet to try but it's definitely on my list. The baristas here are super nice, warm, and knowledgeable! It's one of the reasons why I always look forward to stopping by. Because Soluna is situated in the Boston Public Market, they don't have immediate tables and seats for you to sit and enjoy your beverages. However, if you walk towards the main dining area, you might be able to snag a spot (though it gets super packed around lunchtime). Definitely stop by here when you're at BPM or in the area! I highly, highly recommend it. :- )

Loved how it looked inside. Great options and selections. Very inviting. It was a cute stop.read more

Imagine the aroma of a place housing flavored coffee beans, tea leaves-a-plenty, and spices, and you've almost got the full picture. Add the visuals of an antique looking cash register and scale, and you're almost there. Now include amazingly friendly and knowledgeable service that guides you to your flavor profile and bean grind texture and you've just about got it. I was told their house blend is their top seller, so I got that as well as their Sambuca flavored, and Pecan/Whiskey flavored and put them in my carry bag... ...which is now the best smelling thing I own!

It looks like an old-fashioned coffee store. It is well-known among the locals. Polcari's Coffee sells more than coffee. It is a place you want to check out. You will not leave empty-handed. They have a good variety of teas and coffees. They sell them by the pound, and they will freshly grind the coffee for you. It smells so good here. What got my attention was the herbs and spices. They had a good variety of them at a really good price. They sell them by the pound. I saw some that were only sold at specialty markets in my state. Picture this: I am in Boston on vacation buying cardamom pods and paprika and other spices to take back home, lol. Because I can smell and feel the freshness of the product, I can't pass it up. The staff was helpful. I learned about the different types of coffee grounds depending on the type of coffee. The customer service was good. I loved this store.
