Stopped by Bow market for some macarons at Maca and was super happy I did. They have a decent selection - we couldn't decide which ones to get! The shop is small and there was a line but it went by fast and the person at the register was super friendly. They have a couple of tables dedicated to Maca guests right outside. My favorite was the lemon and the funfetti was pretty good too. They are refrigerated so it makes sense to let them drop to room temperature before eating them. Either way they taste good! Good macarons, but wait until they warm up!! The tiny shop is full of interesting and creative macaron flavors, and I was greeted with a smile and lots of explanations about the options! At first bite, the macaron was just okay - the filling was amazing, but the macaron was just a bit too chewy in the mouth for me, and didn't taste super fresh. The other thing you notice when you walk in the shop is how cold it is - I think they do this for the mochi and ice cream. The effect of the cold seems to be making the macarons too chewy. I was exploring Bow Market one Saturday and stumbled across the cutest lil' macaron shop. It's a snug space that can only fit a few people at a time, but I think that adds to the allure. I ordered a box of twelve macarons with the following flavors: maple cream, cake batter, lavender honey, red velvet, strawberry cheesecake, pumpkin cheesecake, cookies & cream, and fest lager. The maple cream, lavender honey, and pumpkin cheesecake were my absolute favorites! Each macaron held up well, tasted fresh, and had an ample amount of filling. I liked that they were brimming with flavor without being super sweet. To top it all off, the macarons were packaged in a sturdy, cute box. Maca is by far my favorite spot for a sweet treat in Somerville. The macas are ALWAYS fresh and the flavors are a mix of classic plus intriguing. I've truly never had a flavor I didn't love. The owner was incredibly sweet and responsive throughout the whole ordering process, helping make sure that my custom macarons (we had a logo printed onto the vanilla flavor) came out looking great. Maca is part of the cool new Bow Market in Somerville, which features food vendors on the bottom floor and arts & crafts, vintage and other vendors on the upper floor. I tried one of Maca's available macaroons, blueberry-cheesecake-basil. It was well made, and tasty, although this particular combination of flavors didn't blow my mind. Will have to try others in the future. As far as Bow goes, there is plenty of patio seating to enjoy your snacks (in addition to macaroons there are pierogis, empanadas, bar pizza, seafood...), but most excitingly, you can bring your food into Remnant Brewery to enjoy with your beer (seating inside and in a chained off area in front and a private patio behind the brewery). Not sure if you can bring non-Bow Market food into Remnant, but there's no need with the fun selection available outside. Dogs are permitted in the back patio of Remnant too. Apparently, Bow's grand opening won't be until November (some vendors and still working on their spaces), but many vendors are already open. Just be sure to check their hours on the website, since it doesn't seem to be all day, every day, and varies between vendors. Maca and Bow Market are excellent additions to Somerville! read more

If you are in the area the macarons are decent, but not the best I ever had. The texture is off and it's quite expensive considering other macarons I have had in Boston. A single macaron is $3.25. If you order 3 the price is $9.00. We ordered pistachio, red velvet and passion fruit.The best one out of the bunch was pistachio. An authentic macaron should have a firm shell on the outside, but with a soft and slightly chewy texture when you bite into it. These macarons are truly unlike any others. I've gone near and far to try every macaron and nothing will EVER compare. I found Maca because of the cute characters but was totally blown away when tasting the flavors and texture. They're soft and chewy and don't fall apart like others, they have a bit of a crunch but aren't over baked and the best part is they aren't too sweet. A huge plus is that she bakes them fresh everyday and sells out so you know you're not getting a stale day old macaron like other places serve. She's always open to suggestions too which is fun!
