This used to be my favorite place but my last visit is likely my last. I have a nervous habit of…read morebiting my nails, so I have to keep them polished or else I need acrylics so they grow out. I was at the point where I could ditch the acrylics and just get a manicure with my real nails. When I told them this they tried to convince me to get a fill instead. (Idk if this is just easier or they make more $$ off a fill.) I told them no - I want them off and the woman seemed pissed off that I didn't take her suggestion. So that's where my issues started. Then during my pedicure I had asked for two colors - metallic copper on my toes, then a matte black on my fingers with an accent copper nail. Well thank god I looked up from my Kindle at the right time because the man painted my toes black and was going to give me an accent nail on my big toes - I can handle all black but accent nails or designs on my toes is just not for me! So my toenails are black - not what I asked for but it's fine. I'll live but strike 2. Finally I get to my manicure - he tells me he's going to leave a little bit of the acrylic to protect my nails...um, weird but at this point I don't feel like arguing, so I tell him as long as it doesn't show under the matte black that's fine since I know that matte topcoat is not very forgiving. All seems to be going well at this point until he starts painting the accent nail - glittery pink. I just go with it because - again - I just wanna get the heck out of there and don't feel like arguing. And it looked good, just not what I'd asked for. Still, strike 3. Finally I paid and left. At this point everything looked okay but guess what? I was wrong. I thought my matte black nails looked smooth but then I started to notice that there was like air pockets or something on a few of my nails. Like dry on top but squishy, if that makes sense. I didn't do it right away but it was bothering me so much that I put a pin in the bubble and liquid came out and the nail polish just peeled off! This was days later! How is that even possible? (I need to say that I did not wash my hands between the time I left the nail salon and the time I noticed the bubbles. Even if I did this shouldn't have happened.) Anyway, there were just way too many issues that day, and it's pretty much turned me off from going back. Prior to this I was happy there though.

I am very happy to have found Victor Rd Salon. I liked the brightness and the selection of OPI colors. The staff was beyond friendly and inviting. We got some New Year's gifts on our way out including $10 off our next visit and moisturizer. I feel the pricing to be fair. Didn't quite understand the 6% cash discount as the posted price of $30 for a pedicure is what I paid in cash. No signs said that the posted price was the cash price, but it was so reasonable that I didn't mind. I'm a stickler when I see cash discounts at shops or gas stations - I just don't like it personally. But I understand why the business does it. I had cash so I paid cash. But in a world where convenience is key, blatantly asking for cash is something I find a bit tacky. Off my 'cash please' soapbox- this salon was fantastic. I will definitely be back.
