At Naivedya we teach Indian cooking, but with a twist - by taking Ayurvedic principles into the kitchen with us.
Ayurveda (pronounced EYE-YOUR-VEDA) is a sister science to yoga. Broadly speaking, while yoga concerns itself with bodily postures, the domain of Ayurveda is what we put into our bodies, in the form of herbs, food and spices. Ayurveda teaches us that by eating foods which are aligned with our constitution, we invite health and well-being into our lives.
Every session with a class on Ayurvedic principles and how those are applied to our food and lifestyle choices to create balance. We also delve into proper food combinations, medicinal properties of herbs and spices, and foods that are best for your own individual constitution. Then we head into the kitchen for some hands-on cooking, followed by enjoying the wholesome meal we've created together. You leave with an Ayurvedic spice kit to continue the exploration in your own kitchen!
History
Established in 2019.
I decided take my lifelong passion for living and eating the Ayurvedic way and formulate a cooking class based on those principles.
Meet the Business Owner: Rashee R.
I started Naivedya to share my passion for living the Ayurvedic way. Besides being a time-tested way of life, in that it is a 5000-year old tradition, it is also a tried and tested way of life for me in a very personal sense. Ayurveda, along with its sister sciences of yoga and pranayama, has been my path to vigor, peace and well-being for as long as I can remember.
I was fortunate to have been born and brought up in India where every kitchen, in one way or the other, has Ayurvedic overtones! Unfortunately the intelligence of cooking the way of ancients has gotten lost in segments of modern India. But the foundation has tenaciously held on, and I await hopefully for its resurgence. I started my own Ayurvedic kitchen over 20 years ago, using my kitchen as the first, and often times only, line of defense against all that ails. I have since studied Ayurvedic cooking and nutrition and am excited to share this wisdom onwards.
