They are NOT good with appointments. I made an appointment, walked in 5 minutes early and right at my appointment time, the tech I requested specifically and made sure was available started on somebody else when it was supposed to be my appointment time. This has happened three times already. They'll pass you over for somebody else regardless of appointment time, and it's unacceptable. If you make an appointment, they need to take you at your appointment time, not start on somebody else right when it's time. read more

My daughter called Friday morning made an appointment with a specific Tech for 10:30 Sat. she got there 5 mins early as they seated someone else with the nail Tech , I called said the above statement and was lied to they said no she's with the Tech now...Complete Lie Apparently after my second call they moved the customer seated with the Tech (which is not right) then took my Child 25 min. late, no appreciation for the fact that you may have other plans . If this was the 1st time I would not be posting this , unless your there the min they open the man that runs the place does what he wants. They were nice but the work was awful. I took my granddaughters and the tips fall out within 3 days. My gel manicure was peeling within 1 week( I didn't think was possible) it didn't look professional manicure she clean my cuticles and cut skin in two fingers and then she said my cuticles were bad. Terrible!!!! the lady cut my toenails too short filed them down to where they are both open and bleeding!then tried to deny that she did not do it it is all on camera. My manicure looks like a toddler did it the manager at the office said it was old nail polish. when I continue to express my concern and speak with the owner she said it was because she put the top coat on when it was wet. I have been going to Nail Star for years. In the past year the employee turnover and subsequent ownership change has created an environment that is no longer welcoming. I did my usual mani/pedi yesterday. The woman doing my pedicure was not happy with my request to use a product that they no longer offer, but still have on hand. In previous visits, it was not a problem to use that product. She seemed to take it personally and therefore took it out on my poor toes. More than once I said ouch as she dug her thumbnail into my flesh, used her drimmel on my cuticles sanding into the skin around my toe nails, cut my nails very short and uneven. Did minimal shaping, so that not one of my toe nails match another. The massage that I really look forward to was non existent. Today, the skin around my toes is red and quite tender. The worst pedicure ever! The woman doing my manicure informed me that this would be the last time they would allow me to have the Pearl pedicure packet. There was a huge discussion in Vietnamese about my being allowed to have this product. I might not understand the spoken words, but facial expressions, attitudes and actions are universal in any language. The woman who does my manicures is amazing. She does an outstanding job! Every time. I wish these ladies well, but I will not use their services again. There are way too many other salons in our area. I am sure I will find one that is accommodating. I decided to give this place a second chance and try them again. I now have busted up cuticles on both my hands and now my hands are swollen. The whole experience was awkward because he did not talk to me the entire time. I sat in silence but did try and start a conversation. On top of everything I patiently sat there through the pain and did not say anything. I jumped one time amd asked him to please go to another finger bc that was bleeding. Also while sitting in a chair one of the staff took a dry cloth and wiped off some toe tools that she just used on someone and put them back in a clean area with the clean tools. I had a simple mani and pedi, but the experience was very unpleasant. I got an angry older man doing my manicure, who got upset when I told him that he messed up a nail by hitting it with the nail polish bottle. He then chatted with the lady doing my pedicure and they laughed the rest of my time in the chair. In addition, he did a horrible job painting my nails. Please be careful if you frequent Nail Star next to Mike & C's in the Publix complex (near Starr's Mill). I went in this morning for a #3 pedicure & was cut twice. The first time was when the woman was cutting my cuticles & she acted surprised when I pulled away & said ow. She told me, "I have to remove dirt, sometimes it hurts, sorry." I asked her to pls be a bit gentler & figured it was an accident. (She put her thumb over the spot that was bleeding to make the blood stop.) The second time was when she was using the pumice stone (technically it was a hard green sponge, not sure what those are called) & she was scubbing super hard in the same spot while looking at the tech next to us & carrying on a conversation. I started to pull away bc it was beginning to hurt but she held my foot still & kept scrubbing in the same spot & then it cut the skin open. When I said ow again she looked down & seemed surprised & stopped. She tried to push my foot into the water to stop the bleeding (it was not a big cut but deep enough to sting) & I told her the water hurt & to pls stop. She continued trying to push my foot into the water & I continued telling her it stung & that I didn't want my foot in the water, just some Neosporin & a bandaid. She was adamant that I put my foot in the water (I think so no one would see it bleeding) & I finally asked for someone else to come take over. She told me no, she would fix it but I told her no, I wanted someone else. Finally another woman came oversaw what had happened & the new woman wiped it down w/ alcohol pads (stung like crazy) & put a little bandaid over it. In the end they did not empty the bowl, sanitize it, log the cut (these are things a friend of my who is a beautician said they should have done) & still tried to charge me full price. It was such an awkward situation w/ the other patrons watching what was happening & me having to explain that I was bleeding while the woman told her boss, "It's okay, it's only a small wound." I paid & left & will not be back. I will be giving photos of my foot along w/ my receipt to the state board per my friends instructions. read more

After my nails were done they finish with a hand massage which I didn't know I needed until it happened because it felt amazing. I went to Nail Star about a year ago and at first I thought the place was pretty good. The first time I went to get my nails done, they took their time with it. I mean they took their TIME! It was just a basic acrylic fill-in with a different color and they took 2 whole hours! My regular place takes at most an hour but usually 40 mins to just do a fill-in. That's not even the worst part. The second time I went there, and I only went back because I didn't have enough time to go anywhere else, they did the worst thing possible. So, I walked in and they had me wait about 10 mins for a person to start working on my nails. She sat me down and started to file my nails with the electric file, but was going way too fast. I should've said something, but I was too scared to say anything to her. She ended up filing into my nail bed and it hurt so bad. I was looking at my hand, while she did it and she tried to act like it was nothing. I thought it was nothing because she acted like it was. She said sorry briefly and I just sat in disbelief for a couple minutes because my finger hurt really bad and I've never felt that type of pain at a nail salon. My stomach started to hurt, so I excused myself to the bathroom. As I was in there, I noticed how deep the cut went through and it was all the way down to my meat. I started to panic so I texted my mom a photo of my finger. She called me and said to stay in the bathroom and that she would come to the salon as soon as possible. I hid in the bathroom for about 30 mins until I was sure that my mom was at the salon. I came out of the bathroom and went directly to my mom who was talking to the guy at the cash register. He was saying over and over "Let me make this right" but that was no use. He just wanted to cover up the deep cut with acrylic and my mom and I both did not want that to happen. My mom still paid them $40 because she's nice and we just wanted to get out of there. The man proceeded to follow us out of the store and would not let us leave. At this point, I was bawling my eyes out because he wouldn't let us go. Eventually, we just walked away from him and got into the car. The next day, I had to go back to my usual salon and get the acrylic tips off of my nails. read more

I arrived at 11:15am for a fill in and waited an hour and 15 mins to be taken care of. When I arrived there were 2 ladies in front of me which I thought that wasn't too bad. What upset me was the fact that customers came in after me and were helped immediately. I do understand the significance of having an appointment verses just walking in but no one should have to wait a hour and 15 mins to be helped if there were only two persons ahead of me. If they would have told me it would be over 30 mins when I arrived, I would have kindly left and took my business to another salon. I heard 1 nail tech say she couldn't take anyone because she had an appointment coming in within 10 mins. She managed to do a nail repair for someone who walked in after me when she could have simply gotten the process started for me. The guy who did my nails said that I couldn't get my nails filled in but had to get them removed because they were sns (which I knew they were gel). So I decided to just to a manicure with clear polish instead of new nails. He still charged me $10 for removal and $12 for manicure totaling $22 for what you see in the picture below. Amanda is wonderful and always has been, her husband however, is socially inept, and culturally ignorant. He acts as if he's a guard at the door and really, like a pimp overseeing the workers.
