I am very immersed in the Augusta Arts scene and Jessye Norman School of the Arts is a great place…read more This Arts program has contributed greatly to lives of youth in the Augusta area. The space is very nice and serves various purposes. The inside downstairs has an industrial feel and the up stairs has a more administrative feel. The facility is named Augusta's own famed Opera singer, Jessye Norman. If you ever get a chance to visit for an event or for a youth camp, please do so.

Well after a not so good review of the big venue halls in the Augusta area. I implore anyone…read morevisiting to look up Gardencityjazz.com and lookup events at this wonderful little school. At the end of each month they hold a jazz recital, held by an adult jazz band, the setting has some nice basic seating and up until recently they used to sell wine to offset costs and actualy had heavy hors' deuvres, but they seem to be slowly growing as they now are lookin got get this done by a outsid eparty . But back to the school the price to listento great music is cheap(5.00in advance and 7.50 a the door ) MASSIVE attraction they can charge 20.00 and its still wel worth it, you listen to a good 2 hours of great selections in jazz, with nominal food and drink fees, this is great for the visitor wondering of the Augusta area is more than just gold, YES IT IS. So in a nutshell if tou visit the Augusta area, please lookup this school. News flash, I just reasd they will hold some live jazz sets a couple of times per month , I guess ot augment their end of month shows , , well folks if you wantot feel the Arts of Augusta, a show at the Jessye Norman School is the HUGE BENEFIT to your sense and wallet

I love this place! I did the paint a long class here, and it was just awesome! I've never taken a…read morepainting class before. So, I'm going in totally blind. The first one I did was a tree. It looked VERY daunting. Two hours later, my piece surprisingly came out pretty nice! And, I liked it so much that I did it again! I went back to do a lighthouse. I believe the instructor's name on this one was Karen for the lighthouse. That was a tough piece. Karen took a lot of time with us. It was a two hour class, and I had no idea that it had already been three hours! She was so nice. In the end, I was also pretty satisfied with my lighthouse. :) Participants made an evening out of the class, too. Groups went together, and on the lighthouse class, I went on a Saturday night, several people brought wine and snacks. Lots of fun! The two pieces I did made for very nice Christmas presents I gave them to a good friend with whom I did a fall trip with that had the trees with the red autumn leaves and lighthouses. She loved them! I can honestly say that I am hooked! I am definitely planning to go back. There is another lighthouse piece that I'm wanting to do when they feature it.

I've enjoyed some of the art projects my family and I have made here…read more I've also enrolled my child in art camp--but I was very disappointed at what was advertised in the pamphlet, and what my child actually was able to make at camp. She did not get to make as many projects as advertised. I feel like most of her time was spent on coloring sheets--instead of on paintings and on crafts. It's too expensive to pay for my child to go to "art camp" and produce items she could have done at home. It felt like it was a bait and switch. I like the instructors we've had, but I don't like the direction the owner(s) is/are taking this company to make money. I will not do business with them again.
