I have been going to the ORIGINAL Nailbar on Rossville Blvd for the past few years. Eric and his team give thorough, conscientious service - always. My experiences have all been positive. If he asks for cash only it's because fees are costly. To me, this can never negate the care and pride the owner, Eric takes in his business and his customer-oriented service. The nail tech I was assigned provided her services with an undeniable attitude as well as the owner who also conducted himself with the same demeanor, Both the owner and the nail tech did not seem to care that I was visibly displeased. Instead of my nail tech checking in with me to reassure my happiness with the shape, length, and color of my nails she rushed me into choosing a color, she did not shape my nails the way I would have preferred, did not oil my cuticles, massage my hands or provide me with half the amenities that were offered to others around me, she was unresponsive and when she did respond she scoffed at my complaints. This was the worst experience of my life. The service was horrible!!!!!!!!! I felt discriminated against on many levels. The white customers were treated like queens. As for me, and for a lower class citizen. When I approached Eric the manager to plea my case about the lack of customer service, he responded, "I'm with a customer." After seeing on velp "walk ins welcome" I decided to come in for a pedicure. Turns out if you don't have an appointment they will do the bare minimum and rush you out. I was about to get the $72 pedicure but instead they only allowed the cheap quick pedicure. This place has truly become a joke. Personally if I could I wouldn't give this place any stars... I called to book three appointment and was told it was okay if i came in 15-20 minutes from then. I went in 10 minutes after the phone call assuming i would just have to wait 5-10 minutes to be serviced but i waited an extra 20 minutes and they were still not ready. And when i confronted the guy (i think his name is Erik) he was just really rude about it even though it was their fault and did not apologize at all for their mistake and basically yelled at us. Today, I was there and the owner argued with me about what I was requesting. I requested SNS and he told me that I asked for gel and proceeded to tell me that if I wanted SNS I would have to wait(after being there for an hour and a half already). He covers up his attitude with a smile, but I only put up with it because of the service I got from Naomi. I was asked if I could pay in cash when they finish my nails. I told them I didn't have cash and they escorted me to an ATM machine hide away in a room. They explained if I were to pay in cash I would get a chance to spin a wheel for a prize. To my luck, I ended up winning the top prize for a free dip set. After three weeks I called to schedule my appointment. The owner gave me a hard time and said My prize expired. I was confused because my Gel nails typically last for three weeks. He explained I had to use my prize during the same month. However, when I won the "prize" it was at the very end of the month. He finally accepted that I could get the free gel set however gave me a hard time about it when I arrived saying I didn't follow the rules. I ended up getting furious because I felt like he was punishing me for winning a prize I didn't even ask for. I felt so bad for the girl doing my nails that I ended up giving her a $50 tip because she was so uncomfortable while the owner and I were going back-and-forth arguing. My pedicure was good but not at all impressed with my manicure. There was not much work done to my cuticles or the skin around my nails at all. They don't look much different than when I walked in there. The cuticles were not pushed down so the nail polish was painted over them and is already flaked off/all my nails have chipped (this mani is only a couple days old). After my first visit at Nailbar, I can honestly say that I was impressed. I received positive feedback about the salon from 2 female customers/regulars with whom I was sitting as I got a gel manicure from owner, Eric. This was my second gel manicure ever, and I really enjoyed my experience! The salon is very bright and clean; Eric told me himself that he prides himself on keeping the tools sanitized (a medical-grade autoclave), using a new towel for each customer, and ensuring the customers have a good experience. Upon check-out, Eric also said their work is "guaranteed" (for how long, I do not know), and he would correct anything without blaming the customer. That's reassuring! The tiny downside is that walk-ins are generally not welcomed. I noticed this when Eric asked a walk-in to come back in about 2 hours, as they were very busy/booked. However, he allowed a regular to be seated and serviced (hmmm). Appointments are crucial, people-- it's a simple & quick phone call away. I'm very pleased with my gel manicure (only a day old, currently), and will definitely be coming back. The price is very reasonable (in comparison to the Spa on the Avenue gel manicure at $45). Also, the Spa on the Avenue doesn't give as NEARLY an amazing hand/arm massage after a manicure! Also, their selection of gel polishes can't be beat-- they also use OPI at no extra charge. I have been here 2x now and both times have received great service. Both times I received just a basic pedicure. The first time I came was on a Saturday morning just as they opened and I was a walk-in. They were more than happy to fit me in for a pedicure. The second time was on a Sunday. I called as they opened and they fit me in 15 minutes after my requested time (which was just an hour after opening). Both times the staff were courteous, addressed me by name, and made sure my feet were well-taken care of. As I am on my feet a lot and hold a lot of tension in my feet & legs I was especially appreciative of the extremely relaxing foot and lower leg massage I received. The atmosphere is relaxing. Unlike some other places where I have gone, they staff do not hold side conversations in excess and really focus to make sure my needs are met. I like to make an appointment to have my nails done and I don't think I have ever been to a nail shop that actually takes appointments on time. When I show up at Nailbar with an appointment, I NEVER wait more than 2 minutes. The owner Eric truly cares about the quality of work being done. I have had absolutely perfect gel manis here every time (2 years time span) and ONE subpar gel mani. He is almost always present checking in on clients. If something is not right, he fixes it! I've seen him speak with male & female technicians to educate them or rectify a situation. I respect that. I truly don't understand where some of the really bad negative reviews come from. It seems that like myself, lots of people make appointments to come to Nailbar. If someone has an appointment and you don't, they do get "taken before you".
