I called prior to check availability and pricing. Upon arriving, when I went to the door, it was locked. I went back to my car and a lady came out and asked did I need something, that should've been my red flag to leave. I proceeded to tell her I needed a full set. Once I go in the salon, she started doing my nails and I began small talk. Once she applied the acrylic she then filed and buffed and told me to go wash my hands. I noticed my nails were on the thicker side and once I came back to the chair I asked her could she file them down some more. Which the answer was "its because of your nails but ill make them thin then" I said never mind ill just not get the polish. Gel polish plus thick nails = no. My total was $35 and when I gave her the money she proceeded to say "$35" again but louder. I've been here a couple times. The first time was decent, so I decided to go back. The second experience was not great. I got NexGen nails and I specifically said I'm hard on my nails so I need them shorter and thicker. They came out uneven, my thumb nails were shaped horribly and left at an angle, which I didn't notice right away. Less than a week later 2 of them chipped. I went back and dhe just filed them down. They have since chipped again on the same 2 nails and I've only had them on for 7 days. Update: I went back to have them redone since they apparently don't give refunds...that was 3 days ago and 2 of them have chipped and broken off already. I've NEVER had this problem with NexGen nails and I've been getting them done like this for over 2 years. read more

Ironically i've lived in this area for almost 4 yrs and had no idea this place existed; it's tucked away, on the Midway side of Kroger's and behind the Bank of America branch. Been coming here on and off for years. It's under new ownership and them are doing a great job! $30 gets ya a mani/pedi or $20 for a pedicure. They offer gels and waxing but I have never tried those services. They try to be fast and are good at giving you warning on how long a wait you have. No drinks or tv watching but lots of gossip magazines and good pedicure chairs. Everyone at the shop is extremely nice. read more

Absolutely, the best pedicure I've ever had! So, why the 1-star rating? Sanitary procedures. After this perfect pedicure, I watched the tech (Lisa) swish the tools she had used on me around in the water my feet had been soaking in, dried them off with the towel she had used on me, then place the tools back in the drawer. Fortunately, I had no repercussions, but I'm not willing to take any further chances at this place. I had this pedicure in early summer, 2013. Perhaps procedures have changed. You may want to take your own tools if you are absolutely committed to this place. read more

The first time she accidentally messed up my big toe, instead of just polishing over it she started clean so it would be smooth. The second time, I messed it up going to get my eyebrows waxed and she redid it again... The THIRD time, I was going to pay and step in my toe and she didn't hesitate to fix it AGAIN. Sylvia is now offering colored 'powder' nails - for those who love the natural look. I thought I was happy with gels because I stopped the acrylic torture on my nail beds. I've tried the powder application before and they're the best nail product out there if you don't want acrylic nails. They are thinner than acrylic yet much stronger than gels. Perfect for me who is on the computer all day. Nail World ladies all do a great job accommodating you but I recommend you make an appointment so you don't have to wait if you're in a hurry. read more

I finally agree with the negative reviews here. I've been here maybe 3 times to really give it a chance. Each time I was disappointed. Went today to get a pedi and nex gen nails. First off their next gen is 5 dollars more than most places. I asked for glitter on my nails around the cuticle area. Jane made the glitter extremely uneven. One hand is super glittery and the other is not so much. I pointed out that it's uneven and she tried to sell it to me saying it looks better that way. No.. sorry it doesn't. She didn't fix the unevenness. When my nails dried I pointed out that the nex gen was lumpy in some areas. She shrugged her shoulders and said she doesn't see it. Eventually I had to get her to touch it. Yes, it was rough and lumpy. She tried to fix it, still was lumpy after fixed. Forget it. Dropped $75 for reg pedi and nex gen with a bad uneven glitter design. Pedicure was decent, lasted maybe about 20 minutes though. Also, my nex gen started lifting after a week. I mean I don't mind paying a premium if the quality is top notch. For the money this place isn't worth it. Also there's this one pedicure lady that always comments that I don't look Taiwanese. The first time I went she kept saying I'm too pretty to be Taiwanese. That all the Taiwanese people she knows aren't good looking. The reg. pedi which comes with hot wax is only $20, $28 for special pedi with callus removers, special scrubs etc. I think that's a pretty good deal. I had broke two of my nails the night before Christmas Eve, and was depressed because I didn't think any nail salons would be open. I called before visiting and thank goodness they were open! Upon first glance, the shop was nicely lit, clean, neat, and there appeared to be jewelry for sale as well. Sylvia was very friendly! I was pleased to have walked in and got taken care of right away. She introduced me to the next generation, deep powder fill-ins and I was pleased with the result! I won't use acrylic bases again! The prices were good too. I'm very impressed with this little salon. They give very good pedicures with hot wax included in the basic pedicure. The eyebrow waxes have been really good too, had a few there. They even fixed one of my toes for free a week after my pedicure after I smudged it on the way out the door. Nice people and cheap! read more
