I've followed Nail Sunny for years, so when I heard they opened a new location in Glendale, I was genuinely excited. Their work online always looks flawless, and with their grand-opening promotions--$55 for a Russian manicure and $65 for a pedicure (normally $80-$120+)--I thought this would be my new go-to salon. Unfortunately, my experience was the exact opposite of what I expected. For my first appointment, the manicurist cut me three times during the service. The pedicurist applied so much pressure that I jerked my foot away because it hurt. I was shocked. I'm not new to Russian manicures--I've been getting them consistently for over a year both here in the U.S. and even in Armenia--so I know the difference between precision and poor technique. I assumed maybe it was just a bad day, so I gave them a second chance and booked again. Big mistake. For the second appointment, I ended up with the same manicurist--and this time, she was 30 minutes late. I sat in the lobby watching my friend get her manicure (we booked the same time), while the salon messaged me asking if I was still coming because I was running three minutes late. Meanwhile, my manicurist wasn't even in the building. The complete lack of respect for my time was unbelievable. That was the last straw. I want to preface by saying this is my first pedicure from someone other than me in a few months. I typically do my own pedicure as many salons don't do quality work, but I was highly impressed and will be making this my new salon for pedicures when I'm feeling lazy. I called ahead about an hour prior to see if I could do a walk in pedicure and they accommodated me. As I arrived, I was brought to a private room where they had a large recliner. My tech was Oksana who did a phenomenal job. They have a large array of colors to choose from and I chose a light pinky nude for the base of my french tip. I had polygel left over from a previous pedicure and she did a wonderful job removing the product without causing heat spikes. She doesn't speak much English so the receptionist (?) translated whatever I needed to her. Despite the language barrier, she did amazing and gave me the thin french line I wanted. Lastly, I dropped a star simply because I was not offered a beverage as I heard another customer was. This could be due to my tech not speaking much English, but the receptionist (?) also could of offered. Overall, the pedicure took two hours which I had expected given that it's a Russian pedicure and they spend majority of the time with prepping the natural nail. I spent a total of $115. The classic pedicure was $65, $15 nail repair (they asked if I wanted to repair the corner of my little toe and if so, it'd be $15), $15 french design, $20 cash tip. I was aware of the pricing from the beginning and I liked how they give you a breakdown of pricing when you pay. They have a paper with all of their services and prices and mark each item you received. Their prices are fair considering the time and effort required. Many salons pedicures range from $55 to $70 typically, and you don't receive the same quality as I did with Oksana. I came here I few weeks ago. I asked for a French tip with a clear base, I was told that that wasn't possible. The nail tech gave me a milky base and because it wasn't what I asked for I didn't want to sit around and also pay for a French tip with a milky base so I decided not to get the French tip, I walked out with a plain milky color. Do NOT GO! I booked a manicure and pedicure online for $120, which was clearly advertised at the time of booking. During my appointment, I was told I could choose only ONE nail polish color because the manager had taken all the others. No notice, no explanation, and no option to reschedule or adjust the service. When it was time to pay, I was given a Post-it note instead of an invoice showing $75 + $85 = $160. When I questioned the price, the specialist said it wasn't her issue and told me to call management. Management admitted the price online was not updated, said they didn't care, and insisted I pay the higher amount anyway. Went in for a pedicure with my little cousin, we both requested pedicures. This was a different experience, we loved it. So clean, we were pampered by all the staff. The pedicure was a Russian technique, and we both loved it! I recommend giving it a try. This is a relatively longer process and we loved it! The lady that did my nails took 2 hours and 30 minutes which is insane, and all I asked was for a russian manicure and regular gel. She had no idea how to shape my nails, didn't speak English so there was no communication, she had no idea what she was doing. It felt like it was her first time ever touching nails. Date of visit: March 23 This was one of the most disappointing salon experiences I've ever had. I came with my mother for a simultaneous manicure and pedicure -- something I've done many times before at their Beverly Hills location. But from the start, it was clear: the technicians were not professionals. They had never worked in the salon before, didn't know where anything was, and were completely unprepared. The pedicure took nearly 2.5 hours, and despite my request to do both services at the same time, nothing was coordinated. After 30 minutes of struggling, I asked for a different technician. The second one wasn't any better. They damaged my nail plates, made them paper-thin, and clearly had no understanding of proper gel polish technique. My nails looked like "Orbit gum pillows" bulky, soft, and uneven. After almost 5 hours, we finally left the salon completely frustrated. The only positive was the front desk staff, who tried to apologize and explained that the salon had just opened. That doesn't excuse the lack of skill or the waste of time. Unacceptable service. I had a manicure at Nail Sunny Glendale -- and unfortunately, it was an extremely disappointing experience. Just a few days later one of my nails has already fallen off, and the polish has completely peeled off my index finger. Considering that my manicures usually last a long time, this is absolutely unacceptable. While the technician was doing the French manicure, the line was so uneven that she herself admitted, "You'll file down the tip later to make it straight." But filing down the tip is not a solution -- it would simply make the nail shorter than the others. On top of that, the bottom part of the French line was even worse -- so much so that another technician had to step in and redo it to make it look decent. And even then the polish has already started coming off. I've been doing my nails at Nail Sunny in Russia for many years -- practically since the first days at the location on Kievskaya -- and I know very well what the standard used to be. What's happening in Glendale now is honestly disgraceful. You would think that in the U.S., the service would be at a much higher level -- but the reality was the complete opposite. I'm deeply disappointed and will never return -- nor will I recommend your salon to anyone. It was a complete waste of money, and most importantly, a waste of time. It's honestly heartbreaking to see the quality drop so drastically in a salon that was once so highly respected. They wanted to provide me free manicure after their fail, but when I tried to make an appointment and give them chance, they just ignored me. Horrible experience at this salon! It was my first time here & definitely my last time. I went in for a gel x full set and wanted a simple french tip. The whole process took over 2 hours and even though it took that long, you would think it would be an amazing set, but NO, it was absolutely horrendous. My nails were chunky & wide. Absolutely not $150 worth nails. One of the nails broke the next day and all the other nails were lifting not even a week later. I called and the front desk advised i go in for them to fix my nails for free. However, when I did go, they decided that they need to fix only one nail or charge me for a full set. The only reason I'm even giving 1 star is because the specialist was friendly and kind. Other than that, I would not recommend this place. Long story short they booked my appointment twice a week apart, confirmed it, and yet when I arrived, they had no record of me in their system. To make things worse, the first time when I went there it was still construction in process, the second appointment that I took, they had someone else scheduled at the same time as my supposed appointment, so I needed to wait for approximately an hour to be served. I got gel x and they usually last me a very long time but this time around I'm barely over a week in with them and 2 nails have already popped off. I ended up paying $160 usd. It was a terrible experience and the result is not good. I chose a color but other specialist needed to take it for a home visit for another customer. So my specialist took some of the color/material on a palette and put it on my nails with the brush of another gel. So colors got mixed. read more
