This was literally the worst gel manicure I have ever gotten. The rudeness of the staff was astounding, and I left genuinely upset that I had just spent $25 on that level of service. Seeing the other reviews, I don't doubt that some of the technicians at this salon do a great job. However, I don't have a name for either of the women who worked on me, because neither introduced themselves.
I walked in and was greeted by the woman who seemed to be in charge (she was answering the phone and did most of the payments). I told her I was here for a gel manicure (I had called before) and she seemed irritated. She told me to pick a color and pointed to a chair for me to sit in. And everything went downhill from there.
She was irritated to angry the entire time she was doing my nails. She slammed bottles and tools everywhere. She even slammed my hand down on the table on several occasions (I can see a bruise forming, but my wrists do bruise easily). She cut my cuticles, which was the most painful nail-related experience of my entire life. She dug the tool into my skin, creating several open wounds. And then poured a (moisturizing? I'm not sure) solution on my nails, which clearly contained alcohol, because my nails felt like they were on fire. And then she had the nerve to tell me to relax my hands, before slamming my hand down on the counter again. She only spoke to me to say this, and two other things. She yelled at me about the state of my nails, and ordered me to come back to her to remove my gel manicure next time (Needless to say, I will not be doing that). Also, after she finished butchering my cuticles, she informed me that I would paying now (my nails had been filed and my cuticles had been done: no polish or anything else). So I gave her my card, just wanting to get out of there. She came back with my card, and then walked away, telling me to wait.
About 5 minutes later, the woman next to me finished with her customer, and told me to move over to her chair. She said this with a smile, the first I had received since walking in the door. I moved over and showed her my (still stinging) hands, and I think she knew immediately that the previous woman had done a horrible job. She ended up reshaping my nails completely, and cleaning up some of the cuticles. She did my polish as well, and did a good job with it. I would have felt much better, except she spent the entire time talking on the phone, alternating between a bluetooth piece and holding her phone up to her ear. Maybe it's just me, but that screams unsanitary (how many places has that phone been??!) She spoke perhaps two sentences to me the entire time.
Speaking of cleanliness, I was not impressed. The tools were not sterilized between customers. I was actually somewhat happy about the alcohol solution on my hands, because at least it was sterilizing the open (and bleeding) wounds on my fingers. The second woman used the same gloves on me and the customer before me. The materials were old and battered, and the towels threadbare and stained.
Needless to say, this was a horrible experience. The manicure looks fine, so at least there is that. However, I would highly recommend spending an extra $7-10, and go to a place where the people are somewhat friendly. read more
