Well I went here to get a pedicure on Tuesday 10-3-17. I've had this gift certificate since December 2016. Which was a Christmas present from my mom. I've been coming to this salon since 2005 and have gotten many gift certificates. None of the certificates have ever had expiration dates or even eluded to the fact they would expire. Well I sat in the chair and told the woman I had a certificate. I finally opened it and said, oh no, its expired. Mind you they "expire 6 months from the date of purchase". I told the woman and she said I would have to tell the owner. The female owner came to me and opened it and said it's out of date and the only way she would honor it is if it was like a month out of date. Then she walked away. I was shocked and started crying. My feet were already in the water and then she came back and started to begin the pedicure. I was such in shock I didn't pay attention that she had started the pedicure. I was sniffing and wiping tears from my eyes and this owner never checked up from my feet. She never asked if I still wanted to get a pedicure. I said I have been coming here for over 10 years and never saw an expiration "clause" on a certificate. She said nothing. Mind y'all, I know she understands and can speak English. I just texted my sister and best friend what happened and they said just relax and enjoy the pedicure. I had the certificate in my purse and she asked for it back. She then pulled it out the envelope and tore it up in front of me. My jaw dropped. Then she made it a point to get up and go to a trash can behind the nail stations and throw it away. I was speechless which is not like me. However, I haven't done a damn thing for myself since I got married in 2016. I've been raising two step-children, worked part time during the year, then a stay at home mom, husband deployed 6 months out of the year, & dealing with everything that comes with having an ex in the picture. It's been more than rough. The woman continued and payed more attention to another woman that thought she made a mistake and forgot to pay them previously and she was ALL into that conversation that she wasn't involved in, then she stopped servicing me to talk to some loud ass woman who wanted something done and should've used her manners and used her inside voice but no that didn't happen. Finally she regained focus and continued on my feet. Then she had the nerve to talk to me finally and ask if I have kids. I said two step-kids and she laughed and said that's enough. I said no it's not, I want kids but it's been hard because my husband has been deployed 6 months out of the year we been married. She shut her mouth and never said a word. I was done and sat at the nail dryer for 5 minutes. I said I'm done and need to get out of here and paid. I put a big fat O with a line through it for the tip!!! Well PEOPLE, I found out they can't put an expiration date on gift certificates and Louisiana law says they are good for 5 years!!! Section B (1) An expiration date that is less than five years from date of issuance. Such expiration date shall appear in capital letters in at least ten-point font on the gift certificate.
