Unlike most of the reviewers here, I never knew this place when it was new and wonderful. I only know it for what it is now: Middle Eastern Chipotle So I started with low expectations. I just wanted (somewhat) healthy take-out with decent flavor, that I could order ahead. I ordered a build-your-own chicken shawarma plate, with hummus and couscous. As noted in the reviews here, they give you very little chicken, so I made sure to order double chicken. It was really good. Flavorful fresh chicken, lightly seasoned couscous. The hummus didn't have much flavor but otherwise everything was yummy. Also ordered the two-pack side of falafel. Looked burnt but actually just right, tons of flavor. Everything was ready right when it was promised. Easy pickup. Tons of parking. Strong review from me but I acknowledge that I don't have the burden of remembering them from the days when they were truly special. read more

I should have written this a few years ago, I was just going to let it go.. but it really bothered me that my 5 star review was here but no longer accurate. They were starting to go down just before Covid.. and then Covid just about killed them. I thought they may never open again.. so I was glad when they did.. and then I was disappointed. Those strangely sticky tables were still there but the fresh food was gone. Used to be fresh soft pitas everyday.. it was a source of pride for the restaurants. Also, they would slice the meat continuously so that it wasn't sitting around (cool automatic slicing cut it directly from the spit) Now it's a mediocre middle eastern Chipotle styled place serving warmed over food. Such a disappointment. Over 100 visits to Naf Naf and suddenly... I'm done. Been enjoying trying other places, but I miss the old Naf Naf.. the good..no.. the great one. read more

My family and I love Naf Naf! So much so that we ordered three family styles for a recent get together for all of us. We found there was plenty of food and it was all fresh and delicious. You get so much food with the family style - they pack everything you need for a falafel sandwich and more! - pitas, rice, lettuce, chopped salad, sauces and toppings! - Naf naf pita - soft and fluffy, on the thicker side but not hard to break and spread, best warm! - Falafel - by far the best, has a nice mild flavor and is never dripping in oil, well cooked and slightly rounded - Hummus/spicy hummus - honestly, just get the spicy! Both versions are creamy and nutty tasting, but the spicy just takes flavor up a notch! - Chopped salad - best to layer into the sandwich, contains tomatoes and onions We got all the sauces to try, but we'd say the best would be: - Nafziki: A creamy cucumber sauce inspired by tzatziki - Harissa: A red, spicy sauce (spiciest sauce they have) - S'khug: A green hot sauce made fresh daily - Tahini: Pretty standard and nice they offer it! It's no longer the Naf naf I know before. Its really just a copy cat of Chipotle (worst). They used to have better pitas - fresh and warm, no more beef kabobs and kefta that I love. They dont cook the food fresh, they pretend to use the grill, but actually just to heat up the steak. I used to love to come here, dont really mind the drive. So so so disappointed. This is not the middle eastern food I expect. The change is so bad!!! I'd rather go to Chipotle. read more

I've been coming to this restaurant since it was located on Ogden Avenue in the old Taco Bell. We were so excited when it opened as it was a unique concept for fast casual food and we loved it. When they moved to the new location on Freedom Drive we still enjoyed going here on a regular basis but they've changed overtime. Portions have gotten smaller especially with the meat and whereas I used to get plenty of pickles as they had them sitting out everything seems to be not as generous. I can't pinpoint what but something was extremely salty as I was drinking so much water that night. I want to continue to love it, but I think others have noticed the changes as well for it was 6 PM and barely any customers there. read more

My original review was written in 2018. This place was brand new, and food amazing. Well, we hadn't been here in years, but today, in 2024, we decided to revisit. We both had fond memories of the food here, which was brand new back then. We'll, it's changed. Now, it's run like a Chipotles restaurant. Sandwich or bowl, pick your proteins and add ons, etc. I don't remember what they put on them originally, I just really liked them. Today, we were confused and had to ask what they used to put in the chicken schwarma sandwich. The young kid said he had no idea. An older gentleman helped. So we ordered what we thought we enjoyed back in 2018, but it was mediocre at best. The pita seemed dry and brittle, and was falling apart as I ate. I suspect the quality of ingredients isn't on par with the original. Oh, well. We won't be going back anytime soon. Oh, and we were the only people eating in the restaurant at 5 pm. There were a few who came to pick up carryout orders. My 5 star review is being updated to 2.5. Meh. read more

I liked the quick service and healthier options to most lunch time options. I've never lived anywhere with a NafNaf so I had to give it a try. I'd liken it to Chipotle but Middle Eastern style. I enjoyed my 1/2 salad, 1/2 couscous cups chicken bowl topped with onions, cabbage and cucumbers. The pita was nice and fluffy. A solid option for a time limited meal. read more

We used to love the beef skewers and sauces at Naf Naf. We went to celebrate a birthday and were disappointed in the changes. The Beef was over tenderized and the green sauce was not as tasty or spicy.The Pita and Falafel was still amazing. Middle Eastern food like Naf Naf is special. You'll be hard pressed to find pita bread as soft and fluffy as theirs. Nobody else does it like them. Those pockets of goodness open up inviting you to drop in whatever you want. I like to get a bowl of chicken shawarma and I am as happy as as can be. The rice is fluffy, seasoned beautifully and is delicious even by itself. I go cabbage, onions, chopped salad and S'khug sauce, but you can mix and match however you like! Get sauce on the side. You do you. No matter what you order, the seasoning and attention to detail in the food is spot on. They never disappoint. read more

How the mighty have fallen. I used to love this place , back a year ago you had issues finding a set during lunch now not so much. It's like the White Castle effect, you remember why you have not had a White Castle Cheeseburger in a while and then you have one and then remember why. My last visit was like that. The chicken was cool and hard and the rice was like the bottom of the pan. The pita which normally is the best part was dense and cool, not like the normal pillow soft that I remember. The only two good things were the Steak which they grilled while I was waiting and the soup but have no containers, no spoons and overcharge me. The bigger issue is that they are advertising' it. This is the second naf naf I've been to that puts in literally less than 4/5 pieces of chicken. The one in Oakbrook is exactly the same so damn stingy with the chicken. If I could give them a zero I would this place is scum just like the other one. Corporate needs to implement some type of measuring tool for these tools who are working here. We stopped here to order for take out and walking in was impressed with how nice the restaurant was inside - clean, modern and lot of rooms We order a few different dishes. It was a little confusing and first when ordering since the guy taking our order seemed to not know what was included. I ordered falafels, humus falafel salad and a baklava. The sides were not clear with the falafel platter so I just got chips. The food was all prepared quickly. As we were ready to grab our the asked what kind of sauce we would like... It was f clear what the options were so I just said give me what ever. I then realized after I left I should have got taziki sauce. So that was maybe a bit harsh but the food was very good ... the pitas were little pockets of amazing joy... fresh, soft and oh so good with the falafel balls. The humus was excellent as a starter and everyone liked their good. This is a good place to try out.... I have eaten here a few times and over the years my liking towards this place has really gotten down. I really enjoyed the variety and options before for vegetarians, but now it is a lot more limited. The potato fries are really nice here and I would definitely recommend trying them out as well. We've been craving Naf Naf for weeks lol! I love middle eastern food a ton. There isn't one close to where we live and we didn't want to make the drive but I was in Naperville and popped by this location to make it happen. My husband ordered online for pickup on a Saturday night and it was ready perfectly on time when I stopped in to pick it up. I was greeted right when I walked in and the staff were very friendly/all wearing masks. We tried the family style meal and it was the perfect option for about 4 people. There is a ton of food with this option. You choose your protein, get a ton of pitas, rice, lettuce and all the Naf toppings / sauces. It says it serves up to 6 but I would go with 4 if everyone is hungry- ha! The meal came with utensils and napkins also and was only $50 for all this food! Only bummer about this experience was the bag quality. Because we got the family style, there was obviously a ton of food and the paper bags they packed everything in didn't hold up. The bag ripped as I was walking to my car and the sauces were rolling out and one of side's lid slid off. It was freezing this night and I definitely didn't have fun chasing them but I'm sure it made some good entertainment for everyone watching. Luckily, everything else was packaged well so no food spilled out. Advice? Double bag the family style meal please! This could have totally been avoided. The food was very good. I had a rice bowl and they had a number of proteins to choose from, and many different veggies and sauces. The service was excellent. Came here the other night on Thursday. It was not busy at all. There was 1 person who ordered before us. Waited for 35-40 minutes for our food. Just a crazy amount of time to wait for chicken shawarma in a pita. Easy to assemble the food that is already cooked.... Regardless, there was no soup, which the guy didn't tell us until the very end. There was none of the green sauce. They let a lady come in with no mask on and said she was fine because she "forgot it." Like wtf is going on with this location out here? Do they not care about patrons who regularly come here? Why make people wait so long for precooked food??? The food actually tasted good but the service and atmosphere were terrible. This was my first time at this chain on Saturday 02/12/22 and WOW I was BLOWN AWAY BY the service and food quality!!! Immediately the staff was happy to welcome me and my friend when we came in in our work costumes (we work as kids birthday characters so he came in as Prince Charming and I a half done up Cinderella :)) and because Valentine's Day was coming up they made my falafels into hearts and both our pita breads into heart shapes too!! :)) We had probably a 15 min convo with the employees just about how nice they were and our costumes and they made us laugh and were just so so kind!! We just ordered 2 plates that were significantly short on the portions served. Hardly much of anything on the plate which includes rice, chicken, cabbage, cucumber salad, hummus, & a pita. New management took what was already bad & made it worse. Instead of skimping on what's served to customers, focus on the quality of product & service being delivered. This used to me one of my favorite casual restaurants in the area. Whatever I ordered was fresh, tasty, and cooked to perfection. Been a month since I've been here, and had my first terrible meal. The beef "tenderloin" was inedible. More tendon (and possibly bone) than actual beef. The falafel were much smaller than past and very overdone. I will say the remodel is nice. Good stuff! Staying in the hotel next door for the week, someone recommended Naf Naf and they did not steer me wrong. I ordered the chicken kabob plate with the chopped salad and Naf fries. It was a lot of food and all very tasty & fresh-really liked the chicken, salad and fresh pita. Next time I think I would get the rice over the fries though. I asked for spicy sauces and was given the harissa and s'khug-the harissa was tasty, but I loved the s'khug, which was quite hot, so be warned. It is likely I will be in town again for work from time to time and Naf Naf will definitely be on my list for meals. read more

My mom and I decided to stop by and grab a quick delicious lunch...or so we thought. They must have gotten new ownership because they've changed the way you can order. Very, Very,Very disappointing, With all the competition in the area, they have removed one of their unique item "Beef kifta Kebob" plus the schnitzel is removed from the menu as well. My friend is obsessed with Middle Eastern food and it's not my favorite in the world. I can now only think it's because I didn't have GOOD Middle Eastern food. Naf Naf Grill is amazing! I went with said friend last week based on hearing such great things. It was about 7 on a weekday so I was surprised it wasn't more busy than it was when we arrived. I also was a bit put off by the prices! Much more expensive than Pita House, Pita Hut and all the other pita abodely named places. I ended up getting the Schnitzel in a pita for $6.59. I wasn't offered to buy a drink, so ended up with a cup for water. Ah well. The chicken schnitzel in a pita was very good...but $7 good? Eh...I don't know about the prices here. We also shared a hummus with falafel platter for $6.99. Again very tasty. The pita bread here is SO fluffy and soft, just amazing when it's nice and warm. They go down just a notch because of their high prices and spotty service. Is there food amazing? Yes, yes it is, and I think they good charge more than other similar places...but not so much more. For a Chicken Schwarma plate, it's $11.99....that's double than other places! Dined at the location on Rt 59. Naf Naf is a shell of what it was. Eliminated the chicken breast option. Pita bread was not fresh. Hummus used to have oil and nice presentation. Now just served in a plastic container and not as good as what you can buy at the grocery store. Will not go back. We are really surprised at the dramatic decline in quality ovet the last couple of years. There are better options in the area. read more
