If you're looking to explore regional Indian cuisine in Phoenix, Nadu is definitely worth adding to your list. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful, bright, colorful, and thoughtfully designed. As a Bengali, I was really looking forward to trying the Kolkata Prawn Cutlet, but it had already sold out just 1.5 hours after opening, which says a lot about how popular it is. We started with the Aslam Butter Chicken, Beef Bihari Kebab, and Lamb Chop Burra. The Beef Bihari Kebab was the standout, succulent, perfectly seasoned, and literally melted in my mouth. I'm usually not a fan of lamb, but the Lamb Chop Burra completely changed my mind. It was juicy, beautifully spiced, and finished with just the right touch of smoky flavor. For the mains, we had the Champaran Mutton Curry and Moplah Fried Chicken Rice, both packed with authentic regional flavors and cooked to perfection. To end on a sweet note, we chose the Elaner Payasam and Mango Sorbet with Tamarind Syrup. The payasam was light and refreshing, while the sweet-tangy combination of the mango sorbet and tamarind syrup made for a unique and memorable dessert. This is my first time in this past evening. The ambience is very beautiful. Love the decor and the setting. There's indoor and outdoor seating however, I sat indoors. Great team of weight staff that's very attentive. My server Pedro was wonderful with all of his recommendations, you could tell that he really knew the menu. I was not too excited about the food. I can't say it's the best Indian food I've ever had. I felt that the presentation of the food was great however, the taste did not meet my expectations. The rice was very dry, the garlic naan. You could not even taste the garlic, the chicken was not warm, and the fish was missing something. I also was not a fan of the vegetable kebab. The drinks of the drink menu were wonderful. The dessert definitely met the expectations. The tables around me seem to really like their food and everyone seemed happy. I would give this place another shot maybe in a while from now, but my first experience wasn't my favorite. read more

The service was good and inside is spacious with cool decor. Kitchen took a while on a lot of things. Next time I will order my own chicken dosa as that was my favorite thing I tried. The murgh chicken was good. Kebab chicken good too. Tried mutton as a starter for the first time and it was alright. Nadu Phoenix at Desert Ridge Marketplace (21001 N. Tatum Blva, Phoenix) is an upscale, Michelin-recognized regional Indian concept brought by the team behind Feringhee and acclaimed chef Chintan Sarkar (from Chicago my town.) Our meal tonight was so delicious... I am a bit of a spicy baby so some things had a bit more kick than I needed but I couldn't quit eating any of them because the flavor was just so good! Such a unique and special menu and the flavors were really so layered and fun to try... We Had the... DAHI BHALLA LAMB KEEMA MASALA GREEN SHAMI KEBAB- DUCK SEEKH KEBAB EGGPLANT BHARTA MURGH MAKHANI I would honestly get them all again but my favorite two were the green shami kebab and the lamb keema masala. And maybe the eggplant bharta too- so smokey and good with a great garlic yogurt. Only complaint was how long it took before a waiter could get to us... But he had a large table and he was wonderful once he arrived...Pedro took good care of us and was so knowledgeable of the menu with such great explanations and recommendations. Went for a friend's birthday and the food, drinks, and service had us celebrating! The marigold cocktail was smooth and not too sweet. We ordered every starter and the entire group voted the eggplant #1. The lamb, goat, fish were the top 3 for entrees. The service get 5stars also. They were packed on a Thursday night and the people were taking their time so no tables were available for all the 7pm reservations but the hostess and manager handled it perfectly. As an Indian myself, I was excited to have a new Indian restaurant in the area. We arrived right at 5pm and were the first party to be seated for the dinner service. The vibes inside were stellar and the service was even better. Our waiter, Phil, and the busboy, Jonathan, were hilarious and so fun and funny. We felt like we were being served by friends who really wanted us to have the absolute best experience. Phil even exchanged a couple cocktails that we didn't like and never made us feel like we were asking too much. He did get quite busy an hour or two into our dinner service and got caught up with other tables for extended periods of time, but we were less critical of that given how great he was and he also mentioned that the kitchen was very backed up because of the busyness. Almost all of the tables except for a few were occupied by Indians, which was great to see. I'm eager to see how people like this place as time goes on. I'm sad to say I didn't really like the food. The Paneer Ghotala just tasted like congealed cheese with bits of other things in it, and the Ladi pav bread served with it tasted dense and bland. The Kholkata Prawn Cutlet came with three fried shrimp that weren't crispy, hot, or seasoned and with a mustard aioli dipping sauce that was nothing special. The Oyster Mushroom Kebab was presented beautifully, but all I could taste was the chili oil and none of the other flavors or spices listed on the menu. The Murgh Makhani (butter chicken) is a good barometer of food quality at any western Indian restaurant. Theirs basically tasted like a thicker tomato soup. It lacked flavor and nuance. Phil told us it was a 4/10 western spicy, but it had no spice at all. The garlic naan was not as fluffy or buttery as I would have liked. We tried every single house cocktail on the menu: Phool, Chai, Khubani, Aam, Khus-Root-Tini, Haldi, and Kapi. The Khus-Root-Tini, Haldi, and Kapi were the best. Drink presentation was incredible. I did not like the mango rasmalai because, while it was beautifully presented, it tasted nothing like traditional rasmalai which is my all-time favorite Indian dessert. Their version was crunchy and dry, whereas traditional rasmalai is soft and wet. I did enjoy the mango and tamarind sorbet though. read more

Had a delightful meal at Nadu. We tried four of the cocktails and each was top notch. The Apricot and Vetiver are worth it. None of them were too sweet and each a fun simple twist on a classic. We had four dishes and each was good to great. The service is really what put it over the top. Easy headline - "Best Indian Food in the Valley". Haven't had such authentic Indian food since my trip to India where I fell in love with different regional flavors. Masterful job of bringing the regional dishes right here to the valley. Can get a little spicy so definitely discuss your pain tolerance with the waiter before you order. We were so excited to have a modernized and diverse Indian restaurant right in the heart of Desert Ridge! So many menus are...cookie cutter, and this place certainly is not that! Ambiance - pretty casual, loud enough to feel the energy without it being too loud to hear the other person. The tables are a bit weirdly set (there are some reallyyyy small tables on the sides that probably don't need to be there), but they have a nice looking patio. Service - great! Fast, very nice, really accommodated dietary restrictions. We got out entire meal done in 45 minutes bc we ordered everything right at the beginning - which was perfect for us. Shout out to Pedro! Drinks - phenomenal! The Khubani was very well balanced, the Aam nice and complex. Loved them. Food - somewhat disappointed, but easily fixable. We got two kebabs - green shaami and the oyster mushrooms. The green shaami was fantastic - just a touch dry but paired with great sauce that you can drench it with. The oyster mushrooms were a problem. They were (I think) cooked on the tandoor - SUPER tough to bite into. And they had this gas/kerosene aftertaste that I think may have been an issue with the actual tandoor. The benne dosa was great. No notes! The jackfruit was good, but really could have used an additional fat to help cut the flavor a bit and add another dimension. It also did have that kinda nasty gas aftertaste too. I think if they fix/change whatever needs to set on the tandoor, the food would be loads better. We'd certainly come back to try more dishes. read more

Amazing food. I had a multi-course dinner and EVERY course was very good! I was really surprised at how much flavor the food has. Flavors that made the food memorable. They also mention food allergies on the menu so you can order things with comfort. The interior of the restaurant makes you feel like you're on vacation or at least somewhere outside of Phoenix. Most places go with boring modern but NADU went with an upscale warm and inviting atmosphere. They have some fun paintings to look at while you're eating. The owners came out to my table to check on all things and an intro. They were very kind! I'll definitely be back and it's so nice to have a new restaurant like this. read more

We had dinner last week at this Resturant. The restaurant has a warm, inviting atmosphere, and the staff made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The service was attentive, friendly, and prompt throughout the evening. Every dish we ordered was beautifully prepared and packed with flavor. The Prawn Cutlet was crispy and absolutely delicious, the Hara Bhara Kebab was perfectly seasoned, and the Champs Ram Mutton was incredibly tender and full of rich, authentic flavors. The Naan and Malabar Paratha were fresh and the perfect accompaniment to the meal. The Chicken Butter Masala was good, though we've had slightly better versions elsewhere. However, with so many outstanding dishes on the table, it certainly didn't take away from the overall experience. It's exciting to have such a fantastic new Indian restaurant in the area. We'll definitely be coming back to explore more of the menu and highly recommend Nadu to anyone looking for delicious, authentic Indian food with great service. I visited NADU two days after their grand opening, and you would have thought they had been open for months. Our experience was flawless from the impeccable details of the stunning restaurant interior, the service, and flavors of every dish. I went into NADU with very little knowledge of Indian cuisine, and the experience here blew us all away. Our server guided us through the menu, explained every dish in detail, and never failed to steer us wrong. As a foodie, I try new restaurants all the time and my dining experience at NADU was one of the best in Phoenix. This spot made the Michelin Guide for good reason! The meat was so tender, sauces were full of flavor, and textures were out of this world. The presentation of every dish exceeded our expectations. The cocktails were unique and well balanced. This is definitely a fantastic spot to try whether you are new to Indian food like me, or a pro. Desert Ridge Marketplace really did great with this one. In this case i will not hesitate because it was as if the restaurant had been open for years. Service was 5 star and the food was fantastic. Drink menus are fresh and inventive and for those whose who like the classics , their bar has all the top brands. We tried many items on the menu and they were all amazing but especially loved the Murgh Makhani( Butter Chicken) . Even the Naan Bread was perfect. Actually breaks my heart to write this, because one of my dreams is to see a Michelin-starred Indian restaurant in Arizona. Unfortunately, I can't be dishonest about my experience. I had a 7:30pm reservation for Saturday (Aug 22nd) for a family dinner and being heads down on work the past few months, it was a rare & exciting occasion. We were running late so I called the restaurant at 7:20pm informing them that I was just running 10-15 minutes behind due to traffic, they responded with "thanks for letting us know." We got there right at the cutoff time, and when we entered, the hostess went to help set up a table for someone else leaving us standing there for some 5+ minutes. When she returned she said the table was let go since we weren't there. The time was 7:51pm - so it was let go while we were standing there. Best they could do was the patio (in 110 degree heat) / we decided it's best to leave. This is not behavior befitting a Michelin-caliber restaurant - I understand no show policy, but letting the table go when a call was made in advance - without a courtesy check -is not something I have ever experienced from any top tier restaurants in AZ. This leads me to believe they are just using the chef's past experience for marketing. The service is nowhere up to par. I was excited for a great meal & a special night. Unfortunately, we had to experience that somewhere else. Truly disappointed & most likely will not be returning. read more

Amazing ambiance, authentic Indian food and what a great team led by Chef Pujan Sarkar to bring this all together. The Lamb Keema Masala took me back to the streets of Mumbai. The Garlic naan and Champaran Mutton Curry were very delicious and different from anything we've ever eaten at another Indian restaurant. This was a class of its own. Menu (cheap A4 light printer paper) is not worthy of such a nice place but dishes are very tasty (maybe not "hot" enough when asked for), we had mutton curry which was delicious even if the ratio meat/bone was too much in favor of the bone!! Not sure what went wrong here but we were just not impressed. Firstly they tried to sit us at a 2 top near the door. Our reservation was for 5pm and there was literally one other table of guests. We asked to sit elsewhere and were accommodated but noticed them trying to seat other people there and most tables declined. They shouldnt have those table there. Service was friendly and professional so I can't fault that. What I can fault is the grilled beef kabob. I am always dubious of beef on an Indian menu but my husband didn't see anything else he was attracted to so he went with that. $22 for 1 kabob that was maybe 6oz of beef. The problem was it was mushy and had no grilled flavor at all. Murgh Makhani was good. Nice big chunks of well cooked chicken (I don't think it had been cooked in a tandoor though) but it should come with rice. I applaud the restaurant for offering different items but if you dont have enough familiar items for people they won't come. Offer some staples as well as the unfamiliar and get people in the door. I've eaten here twice now and have tried 6 different dishes - all of them amazing. It's rare to find an Indian restaurant that authentically captures different favorites and flavors from different regions of India all on one menu. The chef adds their own twist without sacrificing any of the feel from home. I get it, most Indians would say this gamble is not worth it. We decided to take the family out to celebrate and are very glad we chose this restaurant. The setting is stunning, with beautiful decor and a warm, friendly atmosphere. The restaurant was extremely loud and it was a little difficult placing our order. Our server, Phil, was exceptional, providing spot-on recommendations, including spice levels. The only downside was that our food didn't arrive all at once, which made family dining a bit challenging since we prefer to eat together. When we asked Phil about it, he explained that in their culture, dishes are served in a specific order. While it was a little uncomfortable watching others eat without our food, the overall experience remained a 5-star, thanks to his professionalism and excellent service. read more
