After two consultations, he gave me a painkiller injection in my lower back. Dr. Arita's diagnosis was accurate, and thanks to him, I have improved to an amazing extent. Also, when I had the injection in my lower back, the procedure was done in the doctor's office, so I didn't have to go to another hospital, which was very convenient. Also, two nurses were by my side all the time, holding my hand. The doctor also talked to me about various things, which helped me relax as I was scared of the injection, which was very reassuring. I live in OC, so it's a little far, but Dr. Arita carefully considers the treatment options, so I think he's a trustworthy doctor. He doesn't make me go back in for many times. First, he listens to me, identifies the area that hurts, prescribes the appropriate medicine, and if that doesn't work, he tells me the next treatment. Then, after I get better, he introduces me to physical therapy and releases me from my own consultation, so I don't have to go there unnecessarily. If I ever have any pain in the future I won't hesitate to go to him.

Living with lupus and sjogrens has been difficult, and it meant so much to have a doctor who listened, instead of making me feel like I just had to live with the pain. For the first time in a long time, I felt heard and validated. I'm just starting my medication, but for the first time in a long time, I feel hopeful. I'm so grateful to have found a doctor who truly cares.

Loren, the TMS tech, was fantastic. Madonna, a nurse, was fantastic. Dr. Ananth gave me two referrals that I was very desperate for, and I greatly appreciate that! They were referrals for treatments that they do not do in that office and are pretty extreme. He said he wanted me to exhaust all other options before giving me referrals to those two treatments. I did exhaust all other options, so he did finally give me those two referrals. Again, I'm very grateful to him for doing that because I don't think I would've been able to pursue those treatments without his referral or a referral by another psychiatrist. One thing that bothers me a lot, though, is that, instead of being offered Spravato, which is covered by my insurance, I could only do IV ketamine there. I don't know why they didn't offer Sp I experienced zero effect until my sixth treatment. Cash pay at that time for me was extremely expensive (about $600 per session). So, the first $3000 worth of IV Ketamine treatment was completely ineffective for me.

Four months of waiting, lost activities, and very little relief…read more The staff speak kindly and seem sincere. I can appreciate that while still being deeply disappointed--and angry--about my experience. Good intentions do not erase prolonged delays, painful procedures, or ineffective treatment. My treatment stretched over more than four months, with approximately six weeks between appointments. I was told these delays were due to insurance. That explanation did not make sense to me because, with the same insurance, I previously received similar back treatment in the San Fernando Valley in less than two months, from start to finish. That treatment was also less painful and much more effective. Here, I underwent two diagnostic lidocaine injections before proceeding with treatment. I was told they were necessary "to make sure it works," but I never received a clear explanation of why the appointments needed to be six weeks apart. I was not requesting pain medication; I was seeking timely treatment that would help me return to normal activities. The cost was more than time spent waiting. I lost an entire summer of swimming and surfing because of my back pain. Previous treatment elsewhere had allowed me to surf without pain, so I know how meaningful relief can be. I understand that treatment cannot guarantee complete relief. However, I felt that pain and minimal improvement were treated as acceptable outcomes, and that expecting better results was considered unreasonable. I needed clearer explanations, more timely care, and a meaningful response when treatment fell short. I am choosing not to name individual physicians out of respect for their privacy. Nevertheless, this experience has seriously damaged my confidence in this practice. Through my local Optum medical group in the Torrance area, I was told this was the only pain management practice available for referral. That lack of choice, combined with the delays and disappointing results, has led me to seek a different medical group. Based on my experience, I will not return to this practice.

I never heard from them... 2 1/2 months later I tried calling them to schedule an appointment & experienced the same issues as the 1st time I tried to schedule an appointment- I finally reached someone @ 4 months past my initial appointment. I spoke w/ the scheduling person & she said she couldn't schedule & that someone would call me back that day, to schedule an appointment. Surprise, Surprise they never called... I've tried following up a few times since then, but again nobody answers... I've given up, doctor wasn't that great anyway- By the way, my initial appointment was in Jan 2024, it is now June 2024 & still haven't heard from them, other than a bill I received in May. If you're smart, you'd find another physician! I wish my insurance still took my original doctor.

While the clinic is supposedly under the supervision of Dr.Yang I ended up seeing a Resident Who I believe wishes he were somewhere else. At the end of the visit Dr. Yang comes in, offering a few words, and departs. Don't remember him discussing the case. The experience was disappointing. Fast forward a year.... My back is worse and I am having Sciatic problems. Can't take NSAIDS so I am stuck with Prednisone....not good! I visited my primary care doctor and attempted to make an Ortho appointment. It seems that as I prior walked into the Otho Clinic I can't use it again and I am eternally locked to Dr. Yang as my Orthopedic Physician. Dr. Yang is an elusive fellow. Takes months to get an appointment. Online there is no way to "remove" Dr. Yang and make an appointment (hopefully sooner) with a different specialist. Last I looked appointments with the elusive Dr. were 2 months into the future. I know there are other Orthopedists. I would travel to Westwood if that was the only way to gain a near future appointment. A few words about UCLA care in general. While it is a teaching hospital with all the latest and greatest treatments it does have problems. They have, over the past years tried to bulk up outpatient flow by taking in additional Primary Care doctors. What they haven't done is to bulk up ancillary services and the availability of specialists. SO....for an x-ray or other outpatient need you end up being scheduled a month later. In the case of orthopedics try/ 2 months to gain an appointment. This is not customer based good medical care.

Yes the wait is long and yes office staff not warm (staff generally in medical industry is a problem) and yes because Dr Yang is busy is because he is premier at what he does. I came in not like a social visit because busy doctors like to focus and solve an issue. I provided my MRI results, medical records, and with just a few questions pros and cons based on my research and neurosurgeon advice. Dr Yang gave a better recommended shot (also without oblation ...means to not cutting nerves). . It's a temporary shot to reduce inflammation to help heal and manage pain. The surgical staff is amazing!. I woke up without pain Doctor personally after shot visited and instructed to rest a week, no gym lifting ... just light walking , and no driving for month or minimally. On 3rd month follow up visit I was able to drive 45 minutes without pain. Dr Yang then recommended pain management and therapy and a sleep number bed to support my back which he also uses. I can drive an hour now but always have to walk afterwards for my collagen issue situation. Now able a light gym workout, bike and walk again... enjoy life. He is very rare for his age and gifted... a truly vocational doctor that I also recommended to partner with my Neurosurgeon Dr Liker.
