Had tremendous respect after I visited Dr. Wu for a herniated disc in my lower back. He went over the MRI with me and was super detailed and seemed to really care. However, when I came back for a second ESI, things ran smoothly and I was told it was going to be the same pricing as the first shot ($300.) After I paid, I was then proceeded to be chased out for an additional $200. I was never told it would be $500. I made sure of this prior to booking my appointment and was told it would be $300 on multiple occasions. Seemed like a pretty shady money grab to me. Dr. Wu has since lost my respect. I will not be returning and looking at other Doctors in the area. I warn others to stay away, as it seems like a shady practice to me! I went to Dr Wu for PRP therapy to help fix my knee after injuries related to BJJ. The facilities are very welcoming and state-of-the-art. Dr. Wu made me feel very comfortable through the entire procedure. He explained every step of the process and how it works. He has lots of experiences with sports-related injuries and readily imparts his knowledge to the patients. Doctor told me a simple "shot" would be the cure to my neck issues. He said I would feel better within 3 days and be good to travel to my friends wedding. I thought ok, I can do a quick shot. He never told me it was going to be an epidural dragged through my spinal canal for 15 minutes. During the procedure the nurse kept messing up the fluoroscope and the doctor kept having to tell her to readjust and reposition it. At one point he had to walk over to the fluoroscope and fix it himself. After 3 days I felt awful. I was dizzy, had insomnia, felt off balance, stiff, and in pain. The scariest effect was that I lost sensation throughout my whole body (arms, legs, face). Even my tongue was numb and tingling. I was completely not okay to travel even though the doctor said I'd be feeling great within 3 days. I called the doctor to explain my side effects and I was only allowed to speak to a nurse. All she cared about was deflecting any liability or blame, saying there is no way the shot did this. The nurse told me if I wanted to speak to the doctor it will cost $150. All they care about is making money and kicking you out. The doctor disguised the severity of the procedure and any possible side effects just to get me on the operating table. A full week and half later and I have severe numbness throughout my body, dizziness, and loss of balance. The symptoms aren't getting any better. I'm certain they damaged my nerves. If they were more transparent and honest about the procedure I would have never agreed to do it. Stay away from this place. read more

First appointment was good. The doctor helped me diagnose the pain. He was very anxious to give me an injection in my neck and I did get some relief but not as much as I would like. Second appointment he said was on the house. He asked if I wanted an injection in my shoulder I said I'm not sure and he basically said say have a nice day. That was it m, he didn't check my shoulder. I had not had an MRI or anything...just a very brief appointment 2 minutes. I expected a little more hands-on diagnosis. read more

Dr. Wu is exactly what my mother and I needed! He is incredibly thorough, detailed, and meticulous with his work. He makes the to explain medical terms and anatomical functions of your conditions and best available procedures to correct the conditions. Furthermore, he is comfortable with going into greater details about how the procedure/ procedures will improve the medical conditions. I was so surprised that after decades of my mother having spinal surgeries and epidurals by traditional orthopedic surgeons, she was left is severe debilitating pain. Her only recourse was pain medication, which left her tired, sleepy, and hopeless every day. She had a L5/S1 fusion and c4/c5 herniated disk surgery, and recently was diagnosed with spondyliothis/ degenerative spine condition. To make matters worse, the L5/S1 fusion has compacted the above vertebrae and worn down the cushion in L4 to the point of bone on bone. We had been searching for a remedy for years, and we're only offered cortisone, epidurals, and ultimately fusion surgery (again), by doctor after doctor. Until.... We met Dr. Wu. In 15 minutes he explained an outpatient procedure that we had never heard of, that for the first time - actually made sense! So we gave it a try. In 15 minutes, Dr. Wu completed his recommended procedure on my mother. In 2 days, she was walking without a walking stick/ cane, not needing wheelchair assistance, not debilitated by severe pain, nor completely dependent on medications like nerve modulators, or opioid pain killers, or muscle relaxants to maintain her daily activities. A week later, I am truly amazed that his work has reduced her pain by more than 60% and now she is walking and smiling and laughing again. She has improved drastically, and now I am blessed to enjoy holding her hand while walking together - something we have not done since I was much younger. I missed so many years of this special experience with her. Thank you so much, Dr. Wu; for giving us new memories to rekindle. PS. Thank you for diagnosing and treating my bursitis. One night my back had the worst kink, I couldn't move. My husband called Dr Wu the next day and THANKFULLY he was able to fit me in. He found the problem was able to help me manage that pain so that my days were not so unbearable. I generally will not write reviews but in hopes helping others making decisions on who they should see for medical attention I thought it best to take the time to write this one and here goes 4-12-23 The receptionist is the doctors first impression we would all agree. I called to inquire if Dr Wu was taking on new patients I was put on hold three times and finally asked was I the Wilshire law firm. I responded NO and was placed on hold once again and THEN disconnected. I waited for her to call back 5 mins later still no call back. I called again what happened next blew my mind...I asked was the doctor taking on new patients and I was told yes. I told her I was looking for a MD for muscle skeletal rehabilitation and that I was NOT interested in medication just the physical therapy (the doctor actually advertises as a doctor of sports medicine). She said and i quote, " He doesn't do any physical therapy and he doesn't give out norco Vicodin or meds he just gives steroid injections". I should have hung up then but I couldn't let this go. Instead I asked ma'am are you aware that whether administered orally, topically, transdermal, or injected steroids are medication? And she responded "well yes but he gives the injections in the office he doesn't give them to the patients to take home or anything like that". WOW!!! Dr. Wu do you know what's happening at your front desk? Phone etiquette is crucial but allowing the misinformed to be the first point of contact is the ultimate NO in the world of real medicine. I have been treated by Dr Wu for several years now and unfortunately my problems are unfixable, however Dr Wu hasn't given up on me, when other doctors did. He has been committed to manage and control my pain. I have had no issues with Dr Wu, he has always been there and very accommodating with my needs. I seen a comment below that an appointment was cancelled last minute, and if that was the case, itit must have been a EMERGENCY because he would have NEVER left his patients hanging. Doctors are human beings and sometimes have emergencies outside of work. Can't fault him for being human. Came here for second opinion. Went to Urgent Care for X-ray on my right knee and I knew it I'm not satisfied on the results from Urgent Care. So I book an appointment to Dr. David Wu, easily to navigate online or phone call. First his place is so beautiful and clean. The stuff are so friendly, accommodating and has positive vibes on the office. Second Dr David Wu is honest, caring, knowledgeable, kind and respectful. I had knee injury from hiking and it was swollen, the pain was really uncomfortable when I'm walking. After talking to him and analyzed my injury. He recommended to take out the fluids on my knees it was quick and painless. He comforted me making sure I was ok during the process. After, taking out the fluids on my knee, I felt better and the pain on my knee is minimal. I'm glad I came to his office. Thank you Dr. Wu you are a life saver. I have suffered with chronic lower back pain since I was a teenager (I'm 41 now) and used to go from one chiropractor to the next searching for a cure for my pain. I came across Dr. Wu in 2017 and saved me from suffering from my pain for the next 5 years. Even though I still had some moments of the same issue within those 5 yrs, they weren't as severe as they used to be. I finally had PPO insurance at my current job and was able to visit him once again a few days ago (2022) and he immediately saw my pain and worked with him on the spot to be able to walk normally once again without severe pain. Before I met Dr Wu I was in constant agonizing pain from 3 herniated disks. No matter what I did I was always in pain. Electric stimulation treatment, cortisone shots, 4 mri scans, constant massages, inversion tables, acupuncture...you name it I tried it and NONE of it worked. My pain was in my back, not down my leg or anything and this BAFFLED every single doctor, from Pain Management to Orthopedic Surgeon to Neurologist.. nobody had a solution because they all said the same thing "you should have pain in your leg, not in your back" that is until I met Dr Wu. He took 1 look at an MRI and said "come back tomorrow I know exactly what's going on and it makes complete sense". I responded, "you mean you know why there is pain in only my back and not down my leg?" And he said "yes!". Well I got my first shot from him and it was more effective than my previous 3 shots combined! I was out of pain enough to go back to physical therapy! The difference is experience. Dr Wu has back pain and understands and LISTENS to his patients as a result. He also has expert knowledge, not only is he a pain management specialist, but he is also an anesthesiologist and works wonders with his knowledge of anatomy combined with the preciseness of his injections. Dr. Wu and his team are great! I've had multiple spinal issues from a car accident over 20 years ago. So at a a rather young age have had many procedures and seen more doctors than I can count. At this point, I have learned to just deal with the pain because it's much easier than jumping through all the hoops before getting any sort of relief. I fully understand as a nurse myself that insurance can get in the way of a lot of things even with a good provider. Dr. Wu and his team really worked hard to get me the pain relief I needed. I could not believe within 24 hours of making an appointment, I already was able to get my epidural injection for my lower back. Not once with the countless procedures I have had done, has this ever happened. He is such a kind, down to earth and caring provider. I would recommend Dr. Wu to anyone that wants a direct, no bs approach to pain relief. With three teenagers and work the fact that he could bring me pain relief immediately and not weeks down the line makes him my final stop in searching for a pain doctor. Dr. Wu and his staff have been wonderful and extremely attentive and accommodating to both myself and my wife as we both have crazy schedules as well as multiple chronic pain issues. Dr. Wu and his staff are kind snd down to earth people who treat you like a human and not another patient. They are not perfect like all of us and Dr. Wu is in high demand and can get a bit busy at times, hence your appointment could go a bit over BUT what doctors office do you not wait at right ? Hence, I believe Dr. Wu deserves a (4.5 -5 stars) ! Dude is just a great guy and he knows his stuff, before we even took the MRI , he knew the root of my elbow and wrist pain was from my neck, and he was right after the results came back, it was clear the reason why my left elbow and wrist were having pain issues was because of the bulge in C2/C3, causing the nerves to be compressed . I rarely write reviews. But this is important. I'm a 45 year old male. I have been athlete my entire life. Wear and tear has definitely taken its toll on my body. I have been dealing with lower back issues for 15 years. There have been many days when I couldn't get out of bed (or off the floor). I just thought that's just the way it is and deal with it. I have NOT seen this doctor so I can only comment about his office procedure during this very difficult time for most people. I made an online appointment last Wednesday for the following week and an email said I would be contacted shortly by his office. ("We will contact you shortly to confirm your request for this time slot.") On Friday with no contact, I called the office and left a message. This morning I finally had a call to say that they could not see me on Wednesday, my requested time slot, and new appointments were only Monday and Tuesday. When I asked for the Doctor to call the Chiropractor that I have been seeing since January to learn what has been done and details about my sciatica, I was told that Dr. Wu would not call. It was just something he will not do. To say the least I will not go here and told the office so. For a Dr. not willing to take 5 minutes to get information from another Doctor amazes me. Why not get information from another medical professional? Thank you for the comments. It was not about getting records but Dr. Wu speaking to my Dr. that was refused. He is highly trained as an Anesthesiologist who later specialized in pain management, so he obviously has the brains and the skills to do this job right. Dr Wu is the man! I had two different procedures done here. I had a bulge disc in lower back and neck. He's really good at squeezing you in last minute if you're experiencing the worst pain, which I was. He does surgery himself onsite so you won't be sent to another facility and a different doctor. I've see other orthopedists before but imo, I feel that Dr Wu really cares. His front staff is also very friendly and accommodating unlike other facilities. Dr. Wu is amazing. Besides being very skilled at what he does, I think he actually cares and is empathetic about his patient's suffering. Like so many, I've suffered from back pain for decades. I've tried physical therapy, pills, prolotherapy, yoga, chiropractors, other practitioners providing cortisone shots, etc. You get the idea. My pain doesn't debilitate me 100% but it limits me. Even worse, it's always there like a rat gnawing in my brain and wearing me out. It wears me out. When I went to Dr. Wu, he assessed my condition and tried a couple of things until he discovered what really helped. I was even pain-free for a spell for the first time in maybe 30 years. Bodies are damaged and deteriorate over time, but Dr. Wu is my go-to guy when the pain rears its ugly head. If I can visit him a couple of times a year and get some relief I'm so happy to do that. So glad I found doctor Wu. I had a constant wrist pain for over a year that no one is able to fix. A friend of a friend recommended me to dr Wu. I was really reluctant as he is at least an hour drive away for me even in light traffic. But after going to chiropractor and even went to Chinese doctor and they all tell me I need to rest it. That's not an option as I have to attend to my baby girl everyday. Dr Wu explained to me very clearly he can free me of pain but I do have to give it rest in order to heal. The procedure itself was very quick and after 3-4 weeks I felt 100% pain free. I have to remind myself all the time to rest it whenever I can as I tend to forget since I don't feel any pain at all. Update: Wanted to post an update to my previous review since Dr. Wu has again amazed me. Have been seeing him since moving here and he has been able to keep my pain under control like no other Dr. has. Dr. Wu has treated the arthritis in my spine as well as numerous herniated discs from scoliosis. I recently had started to have neck and arm pain and extreme headaches. Dr Wu was able to diagnose me just by listening to me and asking me the right questions. He gave me a nerve block from my facet joints and the pain was gone immediately. This allowed him to schedule me for a procedure to have radio ablation to my facet joint nerves which has had me out of pain since, and that was months ago. Dr. Wu has enabled me to avoid surgery on my neck and back. I have seen many Dr's over the years for my back and neck issues and no Dr. has been able to keep me out of pain like Dr. Wu has. Whether it's preventive injections to keep the pain from returning or treating my flareup's as they occur, Dr. Wu. has been a trusted Dr. and friend and is always there when I need him. Don't know where I would be or in what condition I would be in if I had never started seeing him. I have recommended him to many friends, and they all rave about his expertise. read more

I came to this doctor for help with my swollen, painful knee. I can barely walk. I had to wait for 40 minutes past my appointment time in a rickety bleacher seat - lined up in his waiting room. Then was escorted to a room and asked to wait on what looked like a lounge sofa - couldn't have been more than 10" off the ground. The bleacher seat and lounge sofas aren't really the optimal seating choices for an Orthopaedic surgeon's office. I was then forced to watch the doctor chit chat with a 20 year old kid for an additional 10 minutes - so he's now 50 minutes behind schedule. Mind you I'm half laying on his 'lounge' with a swollen knee. His nurse tells him I'm waiting and you can hear him say he didn't think I was his patient. So he finally saunters to the room, no apology, no eye contact, he asks what's wrong and I tell him my knee is swollen painful etc and that I think my back is hurting slightly because I've thrown off the alignment from favoring my knee. He doesn't even acknowledge the knee and asks again about my back, which is clearly a secondary issue. At that point I'd had enough of my time wasted. I got up, told him that I was disappointed with his manner, office and service and walked out the door. This doctor and his office are quite possibly the most unprofessional in South Bay. I have had both neck and back pain my whole adult life. I have tried everything from physical therapy, chiropractic and massage therapy. I am also diligent in doing my exercises but over the years, I found no relief until I saw Dr. Wu. He understood my pain immediately and it was obvious he had treated neck and back pain for many years. He was very patient and easy to talk to. I had no issues getting an appointment and he knew that I needed immediate relief especially as I travel for work . I had a hard time walking with my lower back pain and bulging discs and I also had pain tingling down my arm. I am very grateful for Dr. Wu.
