I am so sad to write this but I have gone through so much bs with insurance and bad drs since 11-2022!! First time, I saw Dr Ahn in late Oct 2025, I was so impressed so happy to hear about how awesome, kind and caring he was. I had 3 pieces in my left side of left wrist broken bones/cartilage. No surgery yet due to inflammation. Dr Ahn recommend Rheumatoid Arthritis Dr. So I went to RA Dr, he gave me RA meds said take for 3 mths - I made appt with Ahn's office Feb19, 2026. I go back to Dr Ahn and I was so happy to get the ball rolling. Got phone call day b4 my appt - my HMO insurance ran out???!! What?! Why didn't you tell me when I made my appt in late Nov?! Your computers tell you how long my insurance is covered for. I know because that's how the drs get paid!! So I had to get another referral, finally went back April 13, 2026. So excited to finally get my surgery scheduled. Office staff was nice. Dr Ahn didn't remember me, so I proceeded to tell him what was going on, he basically stopped me and told me that according to his records that my pain was on the right side of my left wrist?! Tried to tell him NO the pain I feel is still on the left side has NEVER been on the right. He told me that because I was in pain that I probably don't remember??!! WTF!!? I don't remember!! Dude!! I came to you, I lived by what you had said to me the first visit because I was in pain and according to my recommendations you were the best hand surgeon in the South Bay!!! Plus the first time, Dr Ahn was attentive, he listened, he was quite caring about my situation and he looked at me and smiled! I felt like this is it! I'm in great hands lol no pun intended. The second visit, he hardly made any eye contact, only read and looked at his notes, not really listening to my words, he also had chapped lips and dry mouth, he seemed impatient and had other things on his mind?! He offered to give a cortisol shot which I reluctantly agreed to but I swear he must have jabbed it in because it hurt so bad that at that moment if my hand wasn't already gripping the table top because I hate shots, I might have punch his smug face in!!! It was like Dr Jekyll, Mr Hyde!! I understand if you're having bad day but treating patients like they don't know anything??!! Sorry but that's not right. I left crying because I was SO mad! Now I'm sad that I have to research to find another orthopedic hand specialist in the South Bay area. I pray for Dr Ahn, that he will find his love and joy of being a good and kind doctor and orthopedic hand specialist again! Lol or at least drink more water! And if you're having a hectic day, just take a breath and just put yourself in your patient's shoes, treat people the way you would like to be treated!!! Just be kind. It goes a long way and as a patient - I would rather wait for my doctor and have him treat me well then like in a hurry to get me out of there or visa versa!? read more

2nd time here for a cortisone shot. Receptionists are always cold, quick and uninterested. Dr. Ahn is personable enough but seems too busy with overbooking patients. I saw someone leave after waiting 45 minutes. I think some helpful training on how to be a bit more personable would help the receptionists and not overbooking so patients don't feel like just a number. read more

Upon entering the office I was greeted by a very friendly and knowledgeable receptionist and taken to the examining room right away. Very quickly thereafter Dr. Ahn entered the room. Extremely rude office receptionist who refused to allow me to make an appointment to see Dr. Ahn because she didn't like the fact that I had Blue Shield of California PPO Gold. She said it didn't matter that Dr. Ahn accepts Blue Shield, but that I wouldn't be allowed to make an appointment. When I was shopping for insurance, I SPECIFICALLY picked Blue Shield because Dr. Ahn's office told me he accepted Blue Shield PPO. I wanted a good surgeon for my trigger finger release surgery. After I paid my insurance premium, I called back a few days later, and his office suddenly tells me it's too bad that I still can't make an appointment for a consultation. The woman also REFUSED to tell me which insurances he ACTUALLY accepted, saying that information is not available to non-patients. What a crock of an office. Literally told me to get an insurance policy knowing I was throwing away my money. I have to work two jobs to afford this insurance that I can't even use with this Dr., who apparently is so exclusive his office has to play games with people who are struggling to survive. read more

I have Viking Hand, and needed to get it looked at. I wasn't impressed with this doctor at all- I had to wait over a month to see this guy, and he spent a few minutes with me. I don't agree with my problem he diagnosed, nor the stupid nerve test he ordered. What's a painful nerve test going to accomplish??? Nothing! Nerves are not going to be changed by this test, and it's a dumb test, ordered by frustrated doctors who are not sharp in my book. He's a specialist? No, he's not. Plus, he shares an office with so many other doctors, that I felt like I was in the way. He lacks a personality, which is ok if he's sharp. But instead, I found a dull eraser, and am not sure I care to see this dude again. I am not an uneducated person, and have known many scholars of science, and medicine in my years. This doctor didn't impress me one bit. I have seen PA's with more knowledge than this guy, and better communication skills. Why is it so many male doctors drop the ball when dealing with female patients??? Seriously, is it a cultural, a sexist, or intimidating issue?? If someone out there can answer this question, I would seriously like to know. Funny, as this is why I always prefer female doctors. I find female doctors can look me in the eye, and treat me as a human being. Unlike some male doctors. And my dollar is just as worthy as my male counterparts. I am not saying all male doctors are like this, but they do occur more often than not. And this is my review. read more

Dr. Ahn fixed my carpal tunnel with a very small incision and one week of downtime. He did orthoscopic surgery and I had very little pain after surgery. My hand was tender, but that was expected. I took advil for the minor pain. His staff is/was very efficient. I had the surgery done at the Torrance Surgery Center and that staff was amazing also. Overall it was a great experience. I was suffering with debilitating carpal tunnel in my right hand. Dr. Ahn performed the Minimally Invasive endoscopic surgery where I experienced no pain post op and it was a total success!!!
