Dr. Nuccion was nothing but horrible to my daughter who is a college athlete. His bedside manner was curt, rude, and downright demeaning. The team and office staff where he works is amazing, but would not recommend him as someone to visit. Beyond disappointing that there are people out there that you need their expertise and their bedside manner is horrid. read more

From the moment I walked into the lobby, I felt that I was in good hands. The staff was welcoming, organized, and attentive. When I was brought into the pre-surgery area, the male nurse preparing me for the procedure quickly noticed my mild anxiety. With his calm demeanor and engaging, light conversation, he helped me regulate my nerves and feel much more at ease. That thoughtful care continued throughout my entire five-hour stay at the surgery center. My surgeon, Dr. Stephen L. Nuccion, took the time to clearly explain the procedure and answered all of my questions in a way that made me feel confident and reassured. The anesthesiologist also played an important role in helping me relax. He had a great sense of humor but also carefully explained what his role would be during the surgery, which helped reduce my anxiety. After the procedure, the female nurse in recovery was extremely attentive and patient as I gradually came out of anesthesia. Her calm and supportive approach made the recovery process much more comfortable. Overall, my experience at the surgery center was very positive. The professionalism, kindness, and attentiveness of the entire team significantly reduced what could have been a very stressful experience. I am grateful for the care I received. read more

I saw Dr. Nuccion around 15 years ago for my knees (a few months after poorly done foot bunion surgery had left me still in crutches and resulted in buckled knees). He gave me one knee injection that did nothing for me. He then immediately prescribed total knee replacements for both knees! In 15 years I have successfully managed knee pains with Prolotherapy, various braces, PRP and hyuralonic and cortisone injections. It seemed to me he couldn't care less about me and just wanted to get paid for two knee replacement surgeries. Maybe he provides more caring treatment depending on his inconsistent mood and/or your insurance. I would never recommend him. read more

I was having recurring knee pain and it got so bad that I needed two hands to get up the stairs. For several reasons, I wanted to try alternatives to surgery before I went the surgery route, knowing that it still might be a possibility. I had much luck with PRP therapy in a torn tendon in my foot years ago and after some research learned that Dr. Nuccion does use it. I went to see him knowing that it wasn't covered by insurance, it might not be indicated and it might not work, but was willing to try it if it delayed surgery for a year or two. Dr. Nuccion was 100% clear about the possible outcomes and I appreciated his direct and clear manner. I ended up having two injections about 10 weeks apart. I began power walking again and completed a 5K this morning. Walking not running, but I didn't think that would happen without surgery and rehab. It did, and if the pain comes back and I do need knee surgery - I will go back to Dr. Nuccion for sure! read more

The only reason why I would rate this with one star is because I have to put something to be able to put my review. Otherwise he would get a 0. Not to mention his bedside matter was beyond crappy He did a shoulder replacement, and I had to have it totally redone. my physical therapist Noticed something was wrong, I called him several times, and he would never call me back. I then went to Kerlin and Jobe, whom also verified that the shoulder was done incorrectly. There's nothing worse than having to go through that all over again. I don't have many regrets in life, but having Dr. Nuccion perform my knee surgery is at the top of my list. Not only did he not fix the original problem that I went in for (the pain has gotten worse), but he created new problems as well. It's been over a year, and I am in a hundred times more pain than I was in before the surgery. I've spent thousands of dollars on multiple visits with other surgeons to try to fix the problem. I've also spent a countless amount of time and money on physical therapy. I went through an unnecessary and difficult recovery, with ugly scars and no resolution. Not to mention, his office staff is pretty incompetent as well. Slow and inefficient, and they don't provide you with what you need for a smooth recovery. I will now have to have a knee replacement thanks to the fact that his ACL repair didn't do anything for me. Which is probably because my ACL wasn't torn in the first place! It may have been a little "loose", but according to a Kerlan Jobe knee specialist that I just saw, it still is. So I'm really not even sure what the heck he did inside my knee. I'm 46 years old and way too young for this. Thanks to him, I can't even go up one step without excruciating pain. I wouldn't recommend him to anyone...ever. read more

I rarely rate anything in life as perfection, since we can always strive for improvement, however my experience with Dr.Nuccion and Torrance Memorial Surgical center was truly a first-class, 5-start experience. In my case I had a torn labrum and torn rotator cuff which required surgery mid-summer 2022. From day one, my first meeting with Dr.Nuccion, every step in the process was methodical, efficient, and perfectly executed. I should note, that I'm in CA with no family and few acquaintances which can seem overwhelming in this situation, but with such excellent professionalism from Dr.Nuccion's office this was not an issue. I'm still going through the lengthy process of rehab, and Dr.Nuccion's is keeping tabs on me along the way. I'm so grateful to have stumbled on Dr.Nuccion and his staff through Yelp. I tore my bicep tendon (completely) and had surgery with this amazing doc just 6 weeks ago. Just swam the Pier to Pier 2.1 miles (HB to MB) with no problem. I will be doing it again this evening and on Sunday for the big race. The fact that I could not even pick up a coke can 6 weeks ago shows the great outcome of Dr. Nuccion's work. I am connected to the medical profession so I sought out the "best" from my connections, and they were right. If you need the best, search no further. Dr. Nuccion got me in when literally I only had a few days to get the surgery done or else the outcome would not have been the same. The surgery at Torrance Memorial was an A+++ experience. The fact that I have gotten 18 miles of swimming in after such an accident speak volumes on Dr. Nuccion and his staff (and his physical therapy people Peninsula PT--Eric). I hope I never have to go back for any more surgeries but should an accident occur, and I need something that Dr. Nuccion specializes in (shoulders, knees, etc.), I will know where to go. read more

Dr. Nuccion performed arthroscopic surgery on my left knee earlier this year. From my first visit in Feb 2019 to my most recent 6 months post, he has always been empathetic, patient, and warm. He is diligent in listening to your concerns and addressing any questions you may have. He takes the time in ensuring that you have a clear understanding of what the problems areas are, procedure you will undergo, and what to expect in recovery. Furthermore, he is professional, respectful, compassionate, and has excellent bedside manner; his humanistic approach makes you feel valued as a person as opposed to just a number. I was lucky to have him as my physician and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for an orthopedic surgeon; he's definitely one of the best physicians I've ever had oversee my care. According to the Toorance Memorial Physician Network page, Dr. Nuccion is an othopedic specialist, who focuses on all aspects of shoulder and knee injuries as well as degenerative conditions. According to the page, what Dr. Nuccion enjoys most about orthopdecis is the opportunity to intervene both surgically and non- surgically and to have a positive effect on the function and quality of many people's lives. Sad to say this is the farthest from the truth. We saw Dr. Nuccion, and beforehand were informed, "warned" that Dr. Nuccion is not all warm and fuzzy. Well, that is an understatement. He is unfriendly, looks miserable, and interacts harshly and without providing any form of compassion. When we were seen he checked for shoulder range of motion, and asked if any trauma was involved. We answered no but explained the details of the pain swelling numbness etc and asked for him to palpate the area since we were getting the run a round.; but he denied/ refused to do so. He expained that his palpation would not include the area were were complaining about which was the scapula and clavicular area and that he does not evaulate pinched nerves or possible cysts. So he referres us to a pain specialist. Basically a drug pusher/dealer. What a waste of time and money What happened to physicians caring and treating their patients with care, respect, and compassion? It has all been removed from today's medicine. Time to go with alternative medicine. Oh and by the way I stumbled across the definition of the shoulder and thought I could include it as a reminder to what the shoulder includes. According to Wahington University of Othopedics, the shoulder is made up of the acrmioclavicular joint where the acromion, part of where the scapula and clavicle meet. It also includes the glenohumeral joint, where the humeral head and joint meet. read more

Very, very impressed with the experience I had with Dr. Nuccion recently. I saw him in September, 2022, for shoulder pain and after he tested out my shoulder and asked questions about past injuries, he suspected a torn labrum and bone spurs that could only be fixed with surgery. I am unable to get MRIs because of metal in my body so I had to go on his word. I decided to proceed with surgery and trust this man mainly because my partner is a physical therapist and strongly recommended him as she sees many of his successful outcomes. I had my surgery in October, 2022, and as Dr. Nuccion had predicted, I had a torn labrum that needed to be reattached and bone spurs that he removed. The surgery itself was seamless as Dr. Nuccion operates out of Torrance Memorial which is my new favorite hospital. The nurses were so competent, kind and happy. I've had many surgeries and things that were a problem elsewhere, were not a problem here thanks to the staff. I also loved Dr. Nuccion's anestheilogist. Made the pre-surgery jitters disappear :) Additionally, Dr. Nuccion answered every single question I had with patience and kindness. He has a super calm demeanor which really put me at ease in the hospital and even made me laugh BEFORE surgery. I had horrible shoulder pain, which exponentially worsened in a short amount of time. The pain was so intense that I was unable to get comfortable enough to sleep more than 2 hours, if lucky, a night. Dr. Nuccion went out of his way to work me into his appointment and surgical schedule, for which I will always be grateful. He has a great bedside manner, explains everything, and was very compassionate towards my pain. Although healing from shoulder surgery isn't a "walk in the park," and is a process, I could tell the day after surgery that I was on the right path. Dr. Nuccion performed my rotator cuff surgery a couple of years ago. Part of the rotator had a full thickness tear, and the two other sections had partial tears and other issues. Dr. Nuccion did a great job of repairing it, and I highly recommend him. He is very nice and takes time to answer your questions and to explain everything. His staff is very kind helpful too. They provide you with printed info about your procedure, recovery, and all you need to know beforehand. They ran appointments in a timely way every time I visited for follow-ups and pre-surgery. I really love Dr. Nuccion. I'm a pretty new patient with a new injury and the office accommodated my request for an appointment sooner rather than later. The office is clean and laid out nicely. They were able to book my MRI's for me after receiving authorization from my insurance. Dr. Nuccion has wonderful bedside manor (I like a doctor who doesn't mess around and tells you the facts right Away). The practice has an X-ray machine which makes the entire experience even better, not having to wait for 2 tests in separate facilities instead of 1. The office provided me with a knee brace and explained how and when to use it. I only have one suggestion: there needs to be a ramp and/or a rail instead of a curb in front of the door into the parking lot. I feel like a granny in a wheelchair as I write this.......I'm not- I'm 36 with an injured knee! Even I couldn't make the step without asking the receptionist to help me by posing as my hand rail near the curb. For an orthopedic surgeons office, I'm sure It's not a far cry to think a ramp and handrail is too crazy. Overall, though, very happy with Dr. Nuccion and his office read more
