We remembered seeing Naan Stop Kabob when we went to other shops near by. After looking up the menu online we called and placed our order. We bought a lot of food. (See picture for list). I was visiting my friend and he had this place on his radar to try. We decided to go here and see how good it is or not. Originally, we wanted to dine in, but seeing how empty it was, we opted to take it to go instead. I only had the gyro and we shared the veggie pakora. My friend had the lamb biryani. Veggie Pakora: I love pakoras and they did a great job on this. The mint chutney was a good dipping sauce and the veggies were not overly friend or oily. There was plenty to share between my friend and I. Beef/Lamb Gyro: I wanted to really try the Mediterranean stuff they offered, just out of curiosity. They did a fantastic job on the flavor profile for this. A fair amount of meat and the Tzatiki sauce was delicious. I got it a meal and got a can of soda and waffle fries with it. The koobideh was flavorful and well-seasoned. The chicken tikka kabob was spicy, not super spicy but enough to have some heat. The saffron rice was also good as well as the cucumber salad. The portions were plentiful; though I ordered two entrees, we were able to finish one full entree and keep the other as leftovers. So you're asking why I gave it stars versus 4 stars. The worst falafel wrap I have ever had. They should just take it off the menu, the falafel is not round. Shaped like flat fries. Clearly not the typical falafel. It's way overcooked, very dry, over crispy, tasteless garbanzo of some type. Not edible at all. I had to throw 2 orders in the garbage. Which is a waste of money. I've seen this restaurant pop up plenty on times on Yelp when I enter "Indian food". Well tonight was our first time actually getting to try it! It isn't Indian food per se, but it got our attention. I was trying to find the menu and get a description of the different meat kabobs because I've never had them before, but I didn't see any for seekh or koobideh. I called in to place an order and asked them for a recommendation and what people usually order. The man who answered the phone wasn't really helpful. He basically just said that they have different types of kabobs and you choose what you want and he low key sounded annoyed. Umm I'm never ordered from here before so...But he said on the phone that the koobideh is a mix of beef and lamb, so I just ordered that. The restaurant was empty when we came in to pick up 7pm. The man who rung me up didn't have a mask on and he wasn't very welcoming. I had to initiate the greeting. He was on his phone and was watching a video. My bf ordered the chicken tikka kabob and I ordered the koobideh kabob plate (beef and lamb mix). The plate came with rice, side salad, two kabobs, two pieces of naan, one tahini (white) sauce, and chutney? (green). Both of our kabob plates were delicious! Always solid lamb kebab plates. They come with salad, some pita bread and rice. I tried the seekh kebab, which is ground chicken, but while eating it, I kept regretting not getting my usual lamb. Yelp reviews and a craving for some bomb flavorful food for dinner led me here. Menu looks really good but I wanted to focus on some of the basics- chicken over rice, falafel side, and baklava. They gave a ton of food! My chicken and rice bowl was full to the brim with saffron rice, flavorful chicken, chopped cucumbers/tomatoes, and their wonderful tzatziki and hot sauces. I could only eat 1/3 of it and saved the rest for another 2 subsequent future meals. Baklava was ok too. I'd say the $15 or so was money well spent! Now for opportunities for improvement- i wasn't a fan of the falafel and the accompanied hummus - they tasted kinda old and it didn't jive with the rest of my meal. I've been craving Mediterranean food for a while and I wanted to support a loval business so I went there. I've had this style of lamb before and I thought it was average. I honestly liked the yogurt and spicey sauce and that made the lamb a but more taster. I also got naan/ pita on the side with extra sauces so that was nice. I ordered my meal via grubhub so the customer service experience was cut short, but the meal did make me full! I would come here if I am really craving for Mediterranean food. Yuck! Well, we should have known this wouldn't be a great dinner experience due to 2 things. #1) The restaurant was empty. My father always warned me not to enter a restaurant that's empty and he is right. "If the food is so good, where is everybody?" #2) The name. This is neither Indian NOR Mediterranean food. The Koobideh Kabob (beef and lamb on a stick) was not likely made at the restaurant. It looked like a smooth Kielbasa (polish sausage) that was shiny on the outside. If you've ordered these elsewhere, you'll know the meat is squeezed onto a skewer and heated directly in a fire; not here. My partner ate it, since it was $16.00, and later had a terrible gut-bomb experience. Ouch! Finally, the service. Register Dude took our order, then hid in the back. I love the play on words when it comes to businesses. It's definitely catchy and it stands out. Wifey picked-up some take-out food here last week for our dinner. She got 2 Lamb Gyros, 2 Kabob plate combos of Lamb & Beef (comes with rice, chutney, naan bread and salad) and 4 Mango Lassi. The portions on the combo plates are bountiful, although my only complaint was that there were more beef than lamb. I think I only had 3 pieces of lamb compared to beef on the combo plate that I got. I also checked for lamb on the other plate and it had disproportionately more lamb than beef as well. Although delicious nonetheless, I just wished it was more even because the lamb was more tender and better seasoned compared to the beef. They gyro, however, was excellent. The Tzatziki sauce added a nice tang and contrast to the gyro. The lamb was tender and huge portions to satisfy one's appetite. The mango lassi was sweet and satisfying. Since we enjoyed their food so much, especially the gyro, I convinced the Wifey to go back here to pick-up lunch this weekend. Bonus to checking-in is that you get a slice of free Bakhlava for dessert. Of course all establishments have modified the way to conduct their business during the pandemic and this is no exception. There are markers on the floor and signs in the restaurant reminding everyone of social distancing. Also gotta have to wear a mask for extra protection. We got 2 Gyros and 2 Mango Lassi for lunch and was also in the mood for some Chicken Tandoori, but were told they were currently out. There were some type of meat grilling in the back and we asked what it was, but didn't quite understood the answer provided. The guy or owner working at the register could've been more engaging though, which made for an awkward encounter. So we just enjoyed the Gyros, Mango Lassi and free Bakhlava instead as soon as we received our orders. I said, "Thank you" as I was leaving and I didn't even get an acknowledgement or response back from him. So it left a bitter taste in my mouth due to the awkward and cold interaction. They are open during SIP and closed on Mondays. Order via phone or walk-in. The guy's demeanor was short but I wouldn't say unfriendly. He wasn't wearing a mask or gloves like other restaurants, in case that bothers you. I'm not the biggest Mediterranean cuisine fan, but this place adds a great addition and diversity to Hercules's usual fast food and Chinese food. I also was craving something a more on the healthier side. And the raving reviews sold me, thanks to fellow yelpers for the photos! I ordered the chicken gyro and beef kabob plate (I'm also not a fan of lamb). The gyro can be a combo with a salad or fries and a drink. The beef kabob plate came with pita bread, salad, and sauces. The gyro was more flavorful than the beef plate. The chicken was well seasoned and maybe it was everything together, but it was not dry at all. It had some spice to it which made it even better. The pita was thick and soft. The beef kebob was drier but the rice pilaf was great. The beef isn't bad when dipped in the sauces, but I do wish it was juicier. Before you start judging, I did not finish both dishes. But that's my business. I enjoyed my meal but would definitely choose the gyro over the plate. read more

When they're good, they are good, but when they're stingy, grrrr. I've been picking up gyros from here since they opened. The gyros are usually OK, acceptable, nothing amazing, but OK. Recently they've been very inconsistent. Sometimes very skimpy on the fillings, even skimping on the lettuce. Other times a regular amount of fillings, bringing the gyro to OK, acceptable, but nothing to write home about. Try this place at your own risk. Maybe you'll be lucky and get them on an OK day. Don't bother complaining about the inconsistency of the amount of filling. Although they take orders with no problem, they lack comprehension when you have a complaint. Naan Stop is OK, if you're lucky. If you're not lucky, you feel ripped off. read more

Itching for some takeout but not sure what we were craving for... some random browsing led us to Naan Stop Kabob... and we were pleasantly surprised with such a fantastic find! The menu's fairly simple. The wifey went with a combo plate (chicken + beef) and I got a lamb gyro over rice + some waffle fries to share. What waffles fries a little out of place? Maybe. But every loves waffle fries so who cares. There was so much food, we ended up splitting it across lunch and dinner for the both of us. I really appreciate the lamb gyro over rice. It's such a complete meal: you got your carbs, your protein, and your veggies. All super delicious with the tzatiki sauce. I could eat that over and over. I came here because I wanted a quick Mediterranean fix, but want to try a new place to spice up my life lol I ordered over the phone and ordered the Chicken Gyro meal (came with fries & a drink). They made it fairly quickly 15-20 mins. The gyro was alright, it slightly lacked seasoning which shocked me because that's a rare occurrence. It came with a yogurt dressing which was nice. I try to order their Combo plate with lamb chops and beef kabobs. I was told they didn't have lamb chops. I was also told this when I visited this place maybe around 4-5 years ago. If you don't have the lamb chops available then you should delete it from menu. It's deceiving and that was the one reason I wanted to order here. I wanted to complain about your chef on his/her cooking skills. My son who's not a cook could've done better specially if cooking for a restaurant. The lamb/beef kabobs are burnt. The side salad they included it's like 3 bites and that's it. The Naan included is smaller than whole corn tortilla. Very skimpy. On my way to the Yelp 15th Bday Bash I wanted to stop for lunch nearby. Checked the Yelp app and was excited to find this Afghan store nearby the Ta'ere Tia'i Polynesian Cultural Arts Center. While I considered kabobs, the thought of the stuffed Chicken Gyro reflected my senses and memories of the Halal carts of New York. The addition of Waffle Fries for the combo meal sealed my order. Very kind service made my order easy. It's a small store, yet found a nice solo seat. My order came up quickly. There's a TV on today with a cool Afghan music video! This is a nice addition to the Hercules area dining scene. I've been here a few times; the food is good and the prices reasonable. My first visit was with a lunch meet-up group. I was impressed that they handled our orders promptly; everything is cooked when it is ordered and they still managed to get us our food in a timely manner so we could eat together. I've tried the falafel balls and hummus. The falafel was good; the hummus was wonderful --you can have if with or without oil, I had it with the oil. The other times I have eaten here I had a Philly chicken gyro it is filled with chicken, bell peppers, onion, mayo, and Swiss cheese. The first time I loved the gyro, it was very juicy, the second time it was a bit dry. I brought home a combo for S; he wasn't crazy about his plate the first time. When he went inside with me for lunch he was happier. I have also decided that Kabobs are not the list of my favorite food that will not stop me from going here again. They do play music when you enter the place. You order first then find a table to sit down. You have to get your own napkins, forks/knives, water, and sauce before you sit down. Plenty of tables to sit down at. Location of the restaurant is in a good area. It is located in Creekside Center which has not gotten any much business since 2009 when Lucky move out of the area. Home Depot still gets business but where it is located at which is next to Big Lots it does not fill up the parking lot. I wish best of luck for business to stay open. I ordered online, then drove to Hercules to pickup the food. At first the app said pickup in 10 or 20 minutes. Then the app said a half hour to 45 minutes. I sat for a minute in the car and decided I should let them know I was there, so I went inside. Clean and strong smells of lively spices. I was noticed right away and greeted and I told them my name and pickup. The gentleman said Your order will be ready right away, 5 minutes. About 4 minutes later he walked the bag of food out and asked me to help myself to a drink from the cooler, since I ordered a combo wrap. My wrap came with a good drizzle of sauce and nice portion of meats and greens. The waffle fries were large and well done and crisp and tasty.
